Moving to Kona from a city where nationally-competitive top public schools are the norm, we were concerned about our daughter's educational future. Enrolling her at West Hawaii Explorations Academy was the best thing we could have done! After a year and a half (6th and 7th grade), our daughter is thriving and now has dreams of working in aerospace or becoming an engineer for NASA. She's a consistently straight-A student who excels in WHEAs project-based curriculum.As a parent, I appreciate the school's systems and processes, including student-led conferences and the integrated way the subject matter is presented. I am a recent alumni of The Honu House. I came from Maui, recovering from serious medical issues, a broken spirit, and a desperation for change. I am now just over 8 Months sober! The Honu House team gave me the genuine care and love I wasn't even aware that I needed. Everything they offer has been a crucial part of my recovery. The breath work, to the the various types of therapy like codependents anonymous. One on one sessions, trauma work, yoga it goes on and on! I honestly believe I wouldn't be where I am at in my recovery with out The Honu House.

Been to rehab a dozen times over last 15 years and never stayed sober long enough to hit my one year sober until I went through the Honu house program. I did 90 days. Super chill, 12-step based, but not hardcore militaristic like some gnarly programs. It’s co-ed, in a beautiful house on the mountain in Kona with a view of the ocean about a mile and a half away. I thought it was great because it wasn’t a super crazy packed schedule everyday, they understand the value of personal time. Fun outings, gym time, meditations, yoga, weekly massages!!! Spoiled!! JB and Nick are awesome guys, I highly recommend.

I have two family members who have attended WHEA and they loved learning at this school. The teachers treat the students with respect and encourage self-directed learning, although the teachers remain available to help. The curriculum is exciting and allows for the students to do exploration in the natural environment.

I had a great experience with Ku Aloha. I was on the clinic for almost 5 years. I even stopped smoking cigarettes when I was on the clinic.We had to attend group sessions and one on one counseling sessions.i decided to attend their tobacco cessation program. They gave me patches and gum to help with the cravings and honestly I wouldn't have been able to stop without them. Patches and gum are expensive at Longs . They really helped my Well Being in every aspect. With the individual counseling and the group sessions , I was really able to feel good about myself again. Thank you to all the counselors and doctors and nurses and staff that helped me there .

Extremely kind staff. It was very difficult when I was there but if I wasn't so young I should of let my cousin leave and I would of had a good life, My cousin was there first and he convenced me to leave with him and he was there for 2 and a half years, I miss him very much, I always called him uncle Peter because he was 13 years older than me, he got married and still abused his body and basically died at a young age from I believe an overdose of methidone and god only knows what else was in his system, so what I really wanted to say was if I only new that my whole big family was going to die I would of stayed there
