I just completed a 90 day stay at HIR, they only admit up to 8 patients at one time, as such you receive a lot of attention/help. They completely addressed all my issues
They guided me thru detox and spent weeks educating me about the effects of my drug of choice.
Hands down worth every penny as I am leaving with my life back, they even addressed the family issues that come with using.

I have two family members who have attended WHEA and they loved learning at this school. The teachers treat the students with respect and encourage self-directed learning, although the teachers remain available to help. The curriculum is exciting and allows for the students to do exploration in the natural environment.

I've worked in this field for 18 years and can honestly say that this is the best drug and alcohol rehab I've encountered. John and Nick are very involved, and Eliza is a highly skilled therapist. The house is immaculate, and the culture is healing and the modalities such as breathwork, cold plunge, vitamin IV's, NAD are highly effective. I was in a bad way luckily for me I was court ordered to do classes. I went in with a closed mind and after a couple of classes, I realized how messed up I was and started to go to the classes with an open mind. Christopher is a very good councilor, he got through to me like no one could. Long story short I learned a lot about myself and the reasons I am the way I am and how to change the destructive patterns I was choosing. Christopher and Access Capabilities help me change my life for the better. And to top it off he worked out a payment plan for me because I didn’t have health care coverage at the time. My experience here was great. The workers, no matter if Dr, nurse, aide,dietary or housekeeping were friendly, fast, empathetic, and truly wanted a best outcome. I have 2 serious complications that could have made a septic wound go really wrong if they were as incompetent as some of these reviews write. Dr's were professional, knowledgeable and a specialist called in for opinion. I know Waimea is the preferred hospital, but I felt I got excellent care here. Less 1 star for age of building and some nonessentials, but the food is very good. So glad they use EPIC so I could link my charts and my hometown docs have access to all that was done.

Took my sisters vitals in the beginning and then tried to send her home with antibiotics after taking her blood. I had to beg for them to take her blood and check her vitals as she was feeling weak and cold. From my understanding they do not have enough nurse on staff. The nurse on call was definitely overwhelmed. They need to provide more staff.

Went here to seek mental health help. Got locked in a concrete jail cell for 12 hours because they "didn't have room for me". Wasn't allowed anything aside from 3 white concrete walls, a giant metal door, and a plastic crate they called a "bed". Attendants wouldn't talk to me aside from telling me to go back into my room. No human contact, no care, no love, no healing. I left with more trauma then when I came in and now I refuse to ever go back to any hospital for mental health help. Please, I beg you, if you are looking for help dont go here. They don't care about you and they don't have "room" for you.

Queen's hospital has saved my life. I have an unusual condition that was destroying my life. Dr. Hui and his team of other physicians, nurses, techs, PA, pre op, post op and everyone in between has done everything possible to make this happen. This has occurred years and years after searching from childhood to find what was wrong. I worked in California in Healthcare for most of my adult life. No one could figure it out and often told me that I was the problem. Since coming to Queens hospital that simply does not happen. I had a set back and had to return for a follow up. I was so terribly frightened that my condition was returning and would be untreatable. Heather, an RN in pre op, Wilhel the aid, Dr. Hui and the rest of the team that day were beyond kind. The focused help and attention got me to calm down and get through. They did not judge me nor ridicule me. Instead, they met me where I was and talked me through. It was amazing. I love Hawaii island but Queens is my medical home.

5/15/25- I was in the ER between 12am and 4am, and the night staff were absolutely fantastic. They were kind, professional, and incredibly attentive. In a tough situation, they made me feel safe and cared for. This team truly deserves recognition—and honestly, a raise. Thank you for everything.

I would honestly recommend this place to people because while I’m here you don’t realize it but it’s so much better then real life it’s much more chill and I honestly kinda miss it but through it you learn skills through the “dumb” groups going in I said it wouldn’t change me but it really did change me for the better I ain’t gonna forget the staff there or the people and if y’all want follow my ig @itzameelii but that’s pretty much all -CM
