This is my second time going to the Kona Community Hospital emergency room both times I was exceptionally pleased with the care and service that I received. The staff was so kind that greet you outside of the emergency room and the front entry desk employees were exceptional as well. I had little wait time and was seen quickly. The nursing staff was excellent and kind and made me feel comfortable. The physician assistant that I saw she was phenomenal. She took her time explained everything to me, listened to me, answered all of my questions and gave me the best care. I highly recommend Kona Community Hospital.

I completed 86-days at Hawaiian Island Recovery, and it was genuinely one of the most effective and supportive treatment experiences I’ve had. From the moment I arrived, the team was accommodating, opened their doors without hesitation, and consistently put my best interests first. In a field where programs can feel rigid or profit-driven, HIR stood out for its pragmatic, patient-centered approach. Their holistic therapy model is modern, layered, and actually produces results. I received comprehensive care that included multiple forms of psychotherapy, EMDR, Parts work, somatic experiencing, massage therapy, acupuncture, and regular yoga. Beyond the clinical work, they provided substantial education on addiction and trauma that gave me a much clearer understanding of the underlying issues I was dealing with. The integration of these modalities felt thoughtful rather than scattered, it addressed both the mind and the body in a way that built real momentum in recovery. The facility itself is exceptional. The house is by far the most luxurious and comfortable treatment environment I’ve experienced. The food was outstanding, nutritious, flavorful, and the chef was always willing to accommodate dietary needs or preferences. Daily life there felt supportive rather than institutional. The house managers are compassionate people who truly understand what residents are going through. Most notably, my case manager Chevone was outstanding. She is highly competent, deeply understanding, and acted as a strong advocate for my needs throughout the program. She was a keystone figure in my time at HIR, coordinating care, pushing for what was truly helpful, and keeping everything aligned with my recovery goals. If you’re serious about addressing addiction and trauma with a high-end, integrative program that doesn’t cut corners on comfort or clinical depth, I would recommend Hawaiian Island Recovery without hesitation. The combination of clinical excellence, luxury accommodations, and genuinely caring staff made a real difference for me.

HIR was exactly what I needed! I was at an absolute low point in my life and this place completely turned things around. The staff was extremely friendly and caring, some have years of recovery themselves so they’re also very easy to relate to. The meetings they took us to were extremely helpful and even fun! Delicious home cooked meals are prepared everyday by a wonderful Chef, yum. I stayed 30 days but wish I could have stayed the full 90. I still go back on alumni days and Big Book Studies to stay in touch with everyone there, I love HIR!

I did 60 days at the residential program and it genuinely changed my life. This wasn’t my first time in rehab I’d been to two other facilities on the mainland that didn’t stick. What was different here is that they built my treatment plan around me specifically, not a one-size-fits-all schedule. The therapists actually listened. The staff-to-client ratio is small so you’re not just a number. Frank and Fernando were incredible to work with during individual and group sessions. Being on the Big Island away from my usual environment and triggers gave me space to actually focus. I’ve been sober since completing the program and I credit this place for that.

I have been to three rehab places and the all time best one is definitely the ohana recovery in Hawaii the therapist are absolutely sharp and can in my opinion break through to anyone. The facility is definitely absolutely beautiful, warming, welcoming makes you feel at home. The private chefs are incredibly amazing. The outings are beautiful and incredible. The outings can not only be healing but great history lessons as well. The yoga, meditation, sound baths really are important in recovery in my opinion. If you want to go to a rehab I think the Ohana Recovery is the place to get it done at!

The Ohana changed my life! I have immense gratitude and love for this place, my entire experience, and all that I gained from my time and relationships here. The staff, in particular, my therapist Joseph, were instrumental in my recovery process and helping me to find my footing again. I feel so thankful that I was able to find this treatment center, especially considering my poor experience at treatment centers in the past. The Ohana helped me realize that you CAN heal! There is so much nature and beauty that clients are exposed to every single day and the adventure therapy (Huaka'i) grants you so many opportunities to see other parts of the beautiful Big Island. The Ohana is life changing, it brings a beautiful renewal into your life and puts you back in control without addiction. The best investment in myself I’ve ever made! Ohana means family. That’s what you find here! You live alongside others from around the world, small intimate group of up to 8. Getting to know each other and each other’s story is beautiful, laughing together and at times crying with each other. Brothers and sisters are what you leave with. It’s profound! The island itself is truly magical, if you want healing the island has a way of bringing the healing to you 10 fold🩷🌸- it’s a real thing. I’ll be impacted for life from this gorgeous place! I have two family members who have attended WHEA and they loved learning at this school. The teachers treat the students with respect and encourage self-directed learning, although the teachers remain available to help. The curriculum is exciting and allows for the students to do exploration in the natural environment.

I was in a bad way luckily for me I was court ordered to do classes. I went in with a closed mind and after a couple of classes, I realized how messed up I was and started to go to the classes with an open mind. Christopher is a very good councilor, he got through to me like no one could. Long story short I learned a lot about myself and the reasons I am the way I am and how to change the destructive patterns I was choosing. Christopher and Access Capabilities help me change my life for the better. And to top it off he worked out a payment plan for me because I didn’t have health care coverage at the time. There are lots of options for meetings, you can siit and read a grapevine, play cards, do a puzzle, play music, hang with friends, and there lots of service opportunities and fun events. I was nervous about coming here for a lot of reasons, but mostly because previous treatment experiences had left me pretty skeptical. What surprised me was how comfortable the environment felt from the start. It never had that cold institutional feeling I was expecting. Came from out of state to guest dose here and the process was seamless and easy. Very nice people and a great island all the way around to visit. Loved the whole island all the way around. And usually I dont post reviews but I had planned a trip previously to Tennessee which is where my sister lives. And I was guaranteed through my drs and the drs in Tennessee they everything was approved to go smoothly. Except when I got there nurses said they spoke to nurses who lied and said they didnt and they whole entire mess ruined the trip. So I wanted to make sure I gave this clinic a sparkling ✨️ review because when you're in a program that you depend on and you check all the boxes and do everything you should then things should go as promised. This clinic helped make the trip happen the way that it should. And I commend the nurses, drs, and staff members that help people like me every single day. 😊
