Residential
This program treats individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, including those who are currently engaging in reentry programs. Individual therapy, group therapy, and vocational therapy are offered. Life skills training, emotional regulation, anger management, health and wellness, communication skills, and coping skills are taught through their educational programming. Phase one is the treatment phase. Phase two is the reentry phase. Phase three is the post treatment phase of recovery. Clients are expected to stay at least 12 months, but many stay longer to utilize the program as a stable home for continued treatment and support. Each person will engage in their three-part process. Educational programs such as G.E.D. classes and computer programming allows clients to learn new skills that help create options for work and stability.
Treatment
Alcoholism
Alcohol use disorder (AUD), also called alcoholism, can be mild, moderate, or severe. Symptoms include being unable to limit alcohol consumption and feeling strong cravings to drink alcohol. Individuals with AUD may have tried to quit drinking but were unsuccessful. Typically, professional rehab in Hawaii is necessary to help individuals overcome alcohol addiction. This treatment provides the necessary evidence-based therapies, medication, and support for long-term recovery.
Drug Addiction
Drug rehab in Hawaii is for individuals suffering from substance use disorders. Treatment addresses the many issues involved with addiction, typically through a combination of medical and psychotherapy treatments.
Opioid Addiction
Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.
Substance Abuse
In Hawaii, substance abuse treatment programs address addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. Care levels include outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization. Therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy, or dialectical behavioral therapy, equine therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, skills training, and recovery groups can help you to establish a solid recovery and develop a support system (or strengthen an existing one) to increase your chances of long-term recovery success.

Levels of Care
Inpatient
They provide a safe haven from external pressures and offer their residents a fresh start. Habilitat is a long-term residential program built on the Therapeutic Community model. This approach is considered by experts to be one of the most effective methods of treatment for substance abuse and chemical addictions.
Aftercare Support
Habilitat’s Aftercare program helps with the gradual transition from the post re-entry phase through program graduation, along with structured monitoring and follow-up for the first 6 months after program completion. All residents are graduated with a clinical discharge pending a probationary period. They require all graduates to find stable housing, acquire full-time employment with medical benefits, refrain from using any mind altering substances (alcohol included), and attend after care sessions at Habilitat’s facility.
Clinical Services
Group Therapy
Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
Individual Therapy
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
Life Skills
An integral component of Habilitat’s residential addiction treatment is our diverse vocational training programs. These programs include: food service, medical assistant, accounting, masonry, vinyl fencing, landscaping, carpentry, facility maintenance, sales and marketing, office administration graphic design, event coordinating, plumbing, home remodeling, and information technology. This component of Habilitat’s curriculum offers residents the opportunity to cultivate and refine the principles that Habilitat emphasizes: self-respect, accountability, concern for others, constructive criticism, self-discipline, lifelong learning, and a strong work ethic.
Nutrition Therapy
Habilitat places a special emphasis on nutrition within their resident population. Although it is left up to themselves to enforce self control when it comes to their own diets, if they notice that a negative or unhealthy habit is forming, they can intervene and redirect. Their nutritionist monitors their residents with special diet needs, and communicates and trains their Culinary Department on everything from portions to calorie intake.
