This is a belated thank you to all the wonderful, caring, and skilled people we met at Maui Memorial. My husband had an emergency requiring hospitalization and treatment on March 20-24. His dedicated doctors and nurses on the 4th floor saved his life and we’ll be forever grateful. We call this situation “divine intervention” because we were on a flight to Honolulu on our way to our mainland home when the Kona storms grounded all Honolulu air traffic and we were redirected to Maui. While on the ground there, he became seriously ill. The EMTs arrived swiftly and recognized his dangerous situation. Upon arrival at MMMC, he was quickly tested, diagnosed, and scheduled for a procedure on Saturday morning, followed by surgery on Sunday morning. Had we made our flight to the mainland, it’s doubtful that he would have survived. The people of Maui are so very fortunate to have this facility and its incredible staff. Mahalo to all involved! I did a 30 day program at HIR and can honestly say it was the best thing I could have ever done for myself. From the daily therapy, the meetings, the food provided by the chef and the outings, this program is made to work if you want it to. All the staff were beyond great and very attentive when needed. Groups were honestly great. The therapy felt real too, not like they were just sitting there listening to me. I didn't expect to actually have fun in treatment but I did here. It’s not like an institution, which made it easier to actually deal with my stuff. Staff were around no matter what time it was, never felt like nobody was paying attention. When I left I had an actual plan, people to call, next steps figured out. If you're on the fence, just go for it.

I have been to three rehab places and the all time best one is definitely the ohana recovery in Hawaii the therapist are absolutely sharp and can in my opinion break through to anyone. The facility is definitely absolutely beautiful, warming, welcoming makes you feel at home. The private chefs are incredibly amazing. The outings are beautiful and incredible. The outings can not only be healing but great history lessons as well. The yoga, meditation, sound baths really are important in recovery in my opinion. If you want to go to a rehab I think the Ohana Recovery is the place to get it done at!

I had the best experience with Cheryl and Mary Ellen. I had trouble getting the provider to send the order and then they messed up twice assuring me it was correct. Cheryl was so helpful to me and empathized with my frustration and need to get the imaging done before my 9/3 follow up appointment. I have seen Mary Ellen several times in the past year for my finger and now meniscus. She is so pleasant, caring and thorough. Castle is blessed to have them both. Thank you Cheryl for making me feel relief in your skill dealing with flustered patients! We became “phone pals”! And finally we met!!!! Thank you Mary Ellen! Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Great experience. I was brought onto a bed in the hallway because the rooms were full. But as soon as one opened up, I was moved into it. That was my only issue which wasn't their fault so all an all, it was a in and out quick.

I have two family members who have attended WHEA and they loved learning at this school. The teachers treat the students with respect and encourage self-directed learning, although the teachers remain available to help. The curriculum is exciting and allows for the students to do exploration in the natural environment.

I had a genuinely great experience during my stay at detox. I went in expecting to be miserable and counting the minutes until I could leave, but it turned out to be the complete opposite. I met some really solid people who were going through the same thing, and having that support made the whole process not just manageable, but surprisingly enjoyable. The staff was friendly, supportive, and went out of their way to help me with applications and next steps for treatment. It honestly felt like a much‑needed break from real life—a chance to step back, reset, and really look at my goals and where I want my life to go. By the end, I actually didn’t want to leave, which still makes me laugh. I’m hoping this is a once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience, but if I ever do need help again, I know exactly where to go. Thank you to the entire ATS Detox team for being such an important part of the beginning of my sober journey. One day at a time, and I’m grateful you were there at the start.

I came to Queens from out of state with a complex medical history and complex set of illnesses. Originally I was booked to do diagnostic imaging and potential neurosurgery with Dr. Hui from the neurosurgery department here but my case was re-assessed and a different surgery was prioritized first due to the impact it was having on my body. I have to say that my care here from Dr. Hui, Dr. Itoga and Dr. Agbayani has been top notch. The nurses have also been stellar. I have never had this thorough and compassionate of medical care as what I have experienced here. Dr. Hui & Dr. Itoga pivoted last minute to provide the best surgical option based on my symptoms and problem areas. I have been staying in the hospital now for 7 days, and this is the first hospital I have not been dying to get out of. I am still in recovery post surgery but everyone is very attentive and caring. There is very little wait time if any from when you press your nurse call button. I am extremely grateful to have received care from such an intelligent, kind and creative bunch. The staff and Doctors here are not your average, they are out-of-the-box thinkers and able to take on complex cases with ease. THANK YOU to all of the staff for caring for me, this has made a very big difference in my quality of life since becoming disabled 5 years ago.

1 1/2 day Hospital stay. Thank you. I was started on 2 new meds in which one has been noticeably helpful. I do not think its one my doctor will agree with? (non-controlled ofcourse). Hopeful though! The doctors notations should be most helpful in my pursuit. Thank you so much for documenting. *4 months later, I have secured new medical professionals. After meeting with that brilliant physician one time I wanted my healthcare team to be as open minded as he was. He changed my perspective of how much control I have concerning my own health care and what I do not have to accept.
