About House of Hope-Madison County
The House of Hope of Madison County is a 28-bed transitional living facility for adult males over 18 in Anderson, Indiana. The program serves men in the early stages of recovery. This means you must’ve completed an inpatient treatment or detox.
During the admission process, you’ll have an assessment interview to help the staff determine if the program is the right fit for you. It’s also a chance for you to learn more about what the program offers. Once you’re accepted, they’ll create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs. This plan will guide your recovery journey during your time at the house.
Supportive Housing for the Underserved
Men who come to this facility for care are often homeless, unemployed and indigent without access to resources. Many lack supportive families and are facing serious legal problems as a direct or indirect consequence of substance misuse. Clients may come right from jail or prison and many enter from the streets. Yet others come voluntarily, having completed a substance use treatment or even an AA/NA program. The program provides a safe, conducive and structured space where these men can stay clean and sober while building independent living skills.
Evidence based Recovery Grounded in Skill Building
You’ll attend recovery focused counseling sessions while onsite. This session uses proven techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy to help you build healthier coping strategies. Additionally, it incorporates insight oriented therapy to explore the root causes of your struggles. You’ll also attend educational seminars and skill-building classes to strengthen your abilities in key areas of life. Educational seminars provide valuable insights to deepen your understanding of addiction and recovery.
The 12-step model of recovery plays a key role in this program as it provides a spiritual foundation for personal healing. You’re expected to actively work through the steps to build accountability, foster connection and support lasting sobriety. They encourage you to interact and communicate with peers to foster healthy relationships in the recovery community. You must also maintain strict adherence to the program rules while onsite. You’ll be discharged if you substantially break the house rules especially those related to substance use while onsite.
Personalized Discharge and Recovery Support Services
The program lasts 90 days during which you would have to develop skills for a healthier and sober future while remaining free from drugs or alcohol. You also have the option to extend your stay to another 90 days at one of their local three-quarter houses. This amounts to 180 days which gives more time to practice independent living skills and better equipped for reentry.
As you approach discharge, they’ll assist you in finding permanent housing, employment and other supportive services that can sustain your recovery via case management. They can provide referrals to self-help groups as well to enable you to continue strengthening your support network. They’ll help you all through as you gradually transition to sober living in the real world.

For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning.
