About McIntosh Trail Community Services – Outpatient

In 1993, the Georgia legislature created McIntosh Trail Community Services organization. They have an outpatient clinic in Griffin, Georgia. This behavioral healthcare facility provides mental health and addiction treatment as well as disability services. It is a CARF accredited institution that will help you diagnose your substance abuse or dual diagnosis issues and address them.

Whether you are an adolescent or an adult the clinic aims to deliver high quality care. This center’s outpatient program will start your care with an assessment based on ASAM criteria. This assessment will help the center determine the care you need, and if outpatient care is recommended they will connect you with an appropriate program.

This may include speciality programs like the New Choices treatment facility for women, especially mothers. You may also get residential services and support. Depending on your needs you may receive psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic tests, nursing services, counseling, and group and family involvement.

However, this isn’t all the outpatient program has to offer. You can also gain assistance with court ordered evaluations and multiple offender evaluations. In addition the center helps those who need assistance with the Department of Family and Children Services. If you are encountering issues with family services because of your addiction the center may be able to assist you.

To learn more about the outpatient program, it’s best to speak with the center. If you end up needing more intensive care they can provide referrals to other locations that can meet your needs.

I ve been going to this clinic for over a year now.I think a lot of these reviews are either for the wrong facility or from people who were going through extremely rough times when they left their reviews. I didn t have a great experience when I first tried to become a patient at this clinic, I knew I needed to establish mental health care somewhere and had just moved to the area. To be perfectly clear, I was not my best self without my meds and took it out on the front desk staff, even though it wasn t their fault. You CANNOT schedule an appointment to establish care over the phone. You HAVE to get there BEFORE they open on the days that they accept walk-ins. You can call to find out what days they do that or go down and talk to them in person for more information.Treat the staff with respect and you ll get the same in return. Basic human decency. They operate based on policies, not out of spite or as a way to make your life harder. They have genuinely caring staff and exhibit professionalism during appointments.

Absolute trash. Court order mental heal evaluation for my sister. Took her up there 4 times to try to get in. They turned us around because they only do walk ins the first time. Second time: they only allow 4 walk ins a day and we were the 5th. 3rd time: they need a supervisor to accept cash payments rather than insurance. 4th time: the supervisor declined cash payment after us waiting in the parking lot since 630.Shut this place down. Reporting to bbb later today. Also, reporting to solicitors office. And we wonder why we have so many mass shootings . People can t even get help.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

This place is the worst place in the country. They are only concerned about punishing people, taking away your freedom, making you feel less than human and treating you with no respect. The staff has the worst attitude and lack of professionalism I have every seen. I would rather due 6 months in jail than in this place. If you are a loved one is considering this facility, please DO NOT!. There are plenty of other places to choose from besides this one. You just need to take the time and call around

Nurse Tammy is the only good thing about this place. Just as bad as the Thomaston office. They should have more compassionate workers since this is a mental health facility. Do yall really think staff with nasty attitudes is going to help patients?!

This behavioral health center is full of the most disrespectful unprofessional people I have ever dealt with. They never called me to tell me they had to cancel my appointment, I walked in dumb founded because one of the doctors had “training”. Okay so don’t schedule someone an appointment and not be able to make it, especially have the call center call me the day before and say “Just letting you know to remind you of your appointment tmrw”. I yelled at them and said I guess you and the call center weren’t on the same terms where you? Absolutely pathetic.

I went through the program New Choices. Unfortunately, this was not my 1st go around at recovery. I was expecting Mrs. Val Knight to be there and she wasn't, but I had an awesome counselor Jessica List. Mrs List and I didn't see eye to eye at 1st but as I grew I learned so much from Mrs. Jessica. She is an amazing counselor. She was tough I mean tough, she didnt play around about recovery. It wasn't a joke to her. I need that firm tough love. I have been enable and co dependent my whole life and she one of the 1st people that told me No. DFACS or law enforcement couldn't break me but Jessica was the one who broke me. I had about 3 months still angry at the world and she had told me I couldn't get approved for the certain event I was looking for and I will never forget I broke down at that moment. I let everything that I had been holding onto to go. I cried and fell to my knees. I was so broken and I started to begin looking up. For the first time ever I felt humility and began to stop fighting and started to work the program. I will have 2 yrs this up and coming this September. Many things need to adjust to New Chooces for example the beds, the bugs, and some of the ridiculous rule . It's a new era of recovery and old fashioned rules and regulations need to be adjusted there.
