I have been here twice. I owe myself an apology. This "rehab" places profit over individuals lives, and the only reason why I did not transfer was because of the counselor Stephen. Beware of the intake counselor named Michael. He is nothing but a con artist, and this supposedly rehab costs me my livelihood which is my job. He won't take "no" for an answer. I was initially going into detox and he had the nerve to contact my probation officer without me being present and I have no idea what he said to my officer which in turn made her keep me in for 30 days. And from numerous other clients I have heard he calls their jobs and families without the client being present fabricating and exaggerating situations so the clients families and jobs will force the clients to stay there. In my situation my officer was contacted 15 minutes after my boss gave me the thumbs up to go back to work after detox. After Michael and his team of clowns forced me to be there they even told me I had a payment of $1200. If I would have left 30 days residential my P.O. was going to send me up the river based on Michael conversation with her which I was not allowed to see. Go Anywhere but here. Right step. The Parc. Bay area recovery. Positive Recovery is similar to the salvation army. Here is an edited review: you are absolutely correct. The counselor Michael didn't "break" any confidentiality laws with me. However, what he did was unethical and immoral all for his own gain as well as Positive Recovery. He knew by law he could NOT make me stay. However, he found the loophole to email my probation officer, and even went as far to cutting out what he said and only allowing me to see what she (probation officer) said. Now, what is he trying to hide? Also, I have seen with my own eyes this same counselor sitting on the edge of a patients bed with short term disability papers. I witnessed the patient telling Michael the counselor that he had no right to contact his employer. Now that is BREAKING confidentiality laws. Say what you want to say but this program and rehab doesn't follow what they teach which is the program of Alcoholics Anonymous. What does the back of the AA chip say? "To thine own self be true". Looks like this counselor is just like the director that is described in the book of Alcoholics Anonymous. If everyone would do what he says the show would come out right. Am I correct? I hope no one falls prey and becomes victims of this so called institution. You aren't here to get anyone sober. You're here to make money at the cost of playing with people's lives. ENOUGH SAID. Another update: I have yet another update. Why do I keep having updates? Maybe because Michael the intake counselor and this treatment center did me wrong on all sorts of levels you do not do to another human being. My insurance company has sent me letters saying they did not completely approve of all my time in residential at Positive Recovery. Why? Because Positive Recovery did not even bother to send them the pre-authorization. They basically kept me in their facility without telling me that I wasn't even covered. Now, they are trying to collect from me. I've already spoken with my insurance company and they have told me this is NOT on me. Michael, stop doing wrong to people. Not everyone is going to jump when you tell them to do so. Learn to practice the program and LIVE it. Don't use the program as a way to benefit your own pocket. Enough said....

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.

12-step icon12-Step

12 step programs promote participants' sustained sobriety through rigorous and ongoing peer coaching and personal spiritual growth. Participants routinely attend 12 step meetings, which are available multiple times per day, 365 days per year in most communities. This ensures that those in recovery have prompt access to the structure and support they need when they need it. These programs use spiritual precepts to address the root causes of addiction and encourage compassion, self-awareness, forgiveness, accountability, and acceptance.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Residents of a sober living home in Texas reside at the halfway house with others who have agreed to abstain from substances and practice sober-living skills. The relationships and accountability formed here can help individuals strengthen their mental health and achieve long-term recovery. Residents share common spaces such as kitchens and back yards, share meals together, and share household responsibilities such as cooking and cleaning.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

A drug intervention in Texas may be necessary if your loved one is in denial about a substance use disorder. You can partner with intervention services to plan and execute an effective intervention that educates your loved one about addiction and encourages them to get the treatment they need. Many rehab centers offer intervention specialists who can facilitate the intervention and help with a seamless transition to inpatient rehab for treatment.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Texas provides a safe environment for medical detox. This setting is crucial to provide medical care during withdrawal. Certain withdrawal symptoms can cause life-threatening conditions, but patients in a supervised clinical setting have treatment readily available to address any symptoms before they become severe. Treatment can also be provided for co-occurring physical and mental health issues.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Texas is to change thought patterns, which leads to changes in behavior. Specific techniques during CBT can include self talk, SMART goals, journaling, and positive activities.

Treatment that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach focuses on four strategies. Distress tolerance will help you accept and tolerate intense emotions. Emotional regulation will teach you to manage those emotions. Mindfulness will keep you in the present moment instead of regret or worry. Interpersonal effectiveness will teach you to manage your relationships.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Therapy sessions that incorporate motivational interviewing focus on OARS: open questions, affirmation, reflections, and summarizing. This facilitates an exchange of information and an empowering of the client to decide for themselves what changes might need to be made in their lives.

Together with an experienced trauma therapist, you work on healing emotional wounds from traumatic experiences within a trauma therapy environment. Your therapist will help you process the experience of the trauma, which promotes emotional healing and improves your overall mental health.

The purpose of family therapy is to create a supportive and understanding family dynamic within the family unit. Therapists help individual members to identify and change harmful behavior patterns and improve communication. This provides a stable foundation for the family and their loved one's recovery.

The right life skills training will help you build the skills you need for recovery. You'll learn how to solve problems, improve your social life, enhance your mental health, and make good decisions. This is a key component of drug rehab programs in Texas.

This place is just not good. The RA's are extremely unprofessional. I caught one asleep on her I pad. Another violating HIPPA rights. Literally telling me a patient has HIV. There is no psychiatrist on staff. Just a DR with a god complex. There food is sub bar. The facility is pretty gross. Bathrooms smell like urine and the showers are growing mold. The cafeteria and cups and dishes are gross and unsanitary. The curriculum is dull and is forced upon you. How you gonna have an art appreciation class and just bring us a bead making box?... The admission building lacks AC and the cafe gets hot as the AC unit is overwhelmed. What really rubbed me the wrong way was being pulled from a group to see if I could make a payment. If I was able to you would get my wallet out the safe and allow me to pay?... I have no desire to use my DOC but I couldn't stay at this place. Just do a lot of research before you go here. It may not be the rehab or detox for you. There are lots of options.

I was at the facility for only detox, at intake my toiletry products were missing when my things where returned to me, i found it odd of course, I was told by the staff member that I probably forgot it… i doubted myself for a second, i know I did not because I made a check list of my items to take, I called my friend that evening for her to go to my home to look for it and bring it to me, next day i called her and she said it wasn’t there!! I couldn’t believe it and i asked again. The reason of one star is because two products in my stuff was valued a lil over $100!! I work hard for my money and for it to go missing, I did make a complaint and they said that someone will call be back… it’s been over a week and I never received a call!! I would never refer anyone to this facility!

I felt compelled to write this review in hopes of helping the next person navigating the difficult path of addiction recovery. While I understand that treatment centers are businesses and need to be profitable, it was clear to me that PRC prioritizes profit over people - and it shows at every level of their operations. Instead of investing in qualified, compassionate staff, PRC appears to cut corners by hiring undertrained assistants at $12 an hour. The contrast between the professionalism of the counselors and nurses versus the rest of the staff was stark and deeply concerning. Sadly, clients spend the majority of their time interacting with these underqualified "front line" employees - RAs, techs, cooks, and administrative staff - rather than with trained professionals. The result? A toxic and often dehumanizing environment where empathy is in short supply. I witnessed staff routinely making up arbitrary rules, mishandling medication, abusing their authority, and treating clients with disdain rather than support. Many individuals left - not because they weren't ready to recover, but because the environment made healing feel impossible. It was heartbreaking to see. To be clear, I had no issues with the counselors or nurses. They were professional and caring. But they are far outnumbered, and the day-to-day experience is shaped by the untrained majority. In all honesty, my time at PRC felt worse than jail - and while I've only spent a couple of nights in jail, that comparison still feels valid. Thankfully, after a little more than 2 weeks, I was able to transfer to Taylor Recovery, and the difference was night and day. It was a truly supportive environment - everything PRC should have been but wasn't. If you're seeking help, please do your homework. Find a place that treats you with dignity and compassion. Recovery is hard enough - you deserve support, not suffering. You can do this.

Response from the owner

If I could, I would give this facility zero stars. Entrusting a rehab facility with taking care of a loved one is one of the toughest decisions you make. We were given a lovely, informative tour, and we spoke to a highly knowledgeable counselor before making our decision to choose this facility. The treatment of the staff to the clients here is horrible. When we came for visitation, my nephew brought out a cup of water. My family member got scared and quickly told him that cups were not allowed outside. And when we got ready to leave, he frantically checked to make sure all cups were put back. He told us they get yelled at and reprimanded for not following their rules. He likened his experience to how he imagined prison would be. On top of the horrible treatment, this facility misplaced the cash we left for him. Only after speaking to a staff member who remembered us did the staff go back to the safe and finally discovered THEIR error of misplacing his cash in another person’s area in the safe. My family member was too afraid to ask again and didn’t want to get in trouble by asking for them to look again for his money, so it was only when we came to visit that he finally got some. And yes, you need money. Every little item you need costs money. And when you bring in items like laundry detergent or bar soap, the front office will hold it for over 24 hours for “inspection”, but the inspection will magically be done when your family member calls to request it be given to your family member. To top everything off, this facility gave my family member’s medication to the WRONG CLIENT. This client was an aggressive person who was aggressive to my family member and was released for poor behavior. And that client now has my family member’s personal Info on a prescription that belongs to my family member!! I could go on and on. Please read this review and look around before settling for this location. I hear the counselors were good. But that’s it. Moving my loved one out early and placing him in another facility was something we never thought we would have to do, but we are so happy we did.

Where to begin in thanking PRC for giving me the tools to save myself. Super friendly right from the beginning. Admissions had me scheduled for check in before I got there. Linda was compassionate and kind as she was doing my intake assessment. When I was taken to the men's dorm, Ron, gave me the lay of the land and made sure to remind me I chose to come here because I wanted to live differently. Colleen, Reanna, Jaime and Kevin provided insightful exercises that not only challenged my understanding of my disease they also allowed me to understand myself in a new way. Dr Powers' Positive Psychology is amazing and I can't thank him and the staff enough for my recovery.

Response from the owner
