I lived here back in 2003-2004. The place itself is huge and provided us with lots to do throughout the year. They also took us on a variety of off campus field trips that were always a blast! To this day, I have maintained friendships with people including staff/teachers that I will forever cherish. Likewise, for it being such a rough time in my life, my experiences here, (for the most part) helped get me through it.

I had little to no hope before coming to Kemah Palms Recovery. I had just spent 8 days at a med-center hospital after a suicide attempt and they wouldn't discharge me unless it was to a rehab. Kemah Palms was actually my 6th rehab in the past year and a half. It was the first one I actually finished. I had left against medical advice at all the others. I was on a tremendous downward spiral with so much momentum that there was no stopping this fall. I was coping with the pressures of a recent divorce and spending the last two plus years fighting for my son's life who had had 4 open heart surgeries and 3 brain surgeries amongst many others. That was in addition to life's other traumas and pressures. I am dual diagnosed and my PTSD is so extreme it doesn't usually allow me to deal with situations of chaos and high stress. The team at Kemah Palms developed a treatment plan just for me and weren't so legalistic with the rules that I couldn't make it through there, but also had enough order that it was a safe environment. Earlier in this review I mentioned this being the first rehab I finished. That begs the question "what was different about Kemah Palms Recovery?" The biggest difference for me were that the people who are with you day in and day out are former recovering addicts themselves and actually care about recovery. They understand this is life and death and come at you from a place of understanding and love. From their director Paul (no one knows more about recovery than this man) to their clinical director Tabitha (compassionate and intuitive) to my counselor Mrs. Day (best in the business and a true overcomer) to all the RA's and I do mean absolutely all of them, they prioritize you as a person and put your recovery first. From Raquel (super sweet and caring) to Michael (now my sponsor and I wouldn't have it any other way) to Cody (a fantastic recovery ally who I can still call and process with today) to Kristen (super caring) to Christian (rooted in faith) to Matt (a caring recovery advocate) to Abbie (authentically cares for you as a person) to Julie (who knows how to keep you grounded) to Ember (heart of gold) to Ashton (strong advocate) Mandy (super love her and no more caring/empathetic person alive) to the nursing staff, Hailey,(actually saved me when I was choking and also grounded in faith) to Carmen (fantastic nurse.) From Ashlynn who was kind and caring during my intial call, to even Jennifer and Stephanie who make sure you're set up for success when you leave by making sure you have living arrangements and appointments set. Basically just everyone from the doctors to even the maintenance staff Andy, Curt, and Cameron, this place is all about recovery and doing what it takes to get you healthy and the best version of you. I must also mention Mrs. Clara the cook. That was some of the best eating I have ever had. I even spoke with the owners several times while I was there and they are absolutely awesome. You'd think a place like this would be profits over people and most rehabs are, but it is super refreshing that this is the exception to that rule where people and their recovery come first. I love this place. I have to mention the equine therapy they have with two awesome horses, (Star and Cassie) and Sparky the recovery dog was there to love on you when you needed a friend. The community and love here and the continued connection has laid the foundations for what my recovery will be for the future. I am now participating in their PHP program and Jason and John are fantastic. They are the counselors running that program and they really challenge your old thought processes. I am approaching 2 months sober at this time, which is huge if you know me, and nothing short of a present day miracle. If you're looking for a place to partner with you and give you the necessary tools for you to be sober and successful I highly recommend this place. Kemah Palms Recovery is more than a rehab, they are love. ❤️

Well considering I’ve been to quite a few rehabs, Kemah Palms has hands down been the best one. All the staff was very welcoming from the moment I walked through the front door. Detox was surprisingly good, Residential had its ups and downs but that’s all about perspective. The counselors were amazing! Told me what I needed to hear not what I wanted to hear. I’ve never felt so confident in recovery. They gave me wonderful tools to use. Taught me away to handle life in a more affective way. I would recommend KPR to anyone looking to change their life.

I was unsure of how this program would benefit my recovery in the beginning; I did not buy in fully for almost two weeks, but I am so glad I did. I want to thank the amazing staff- RA’s, Counselors, Admin, Groundskeepers, and especially the other clients I befriended along the way for their role in my recovery. The odyssey home is where you come and get away from everything so you can better yourself. you may not like it all while your in there but deep down you know it’s doing you better mentally and physically and showing you how strong you can be when you finish the program all the staff are great people just have the same respect you would want towards you. Everyone isn’t gonna have a perfect day every single day but you gotta focus on why your there and what you need to do so you can go back home and spent time with your family cause when you in there you start thinking about all the stuff yoh missed out with your family and how much of a privilege it is to have your family around but you don’t notice that till your in there and see how much time you been playing with your life there is a privilege for you to become great within yourself you just have to put the work in and show your family that you can make a change for once in your life. I go there all the time for therapy and it's also a resale shop so there are many clothes and stuff like that. It's an awesome environment everyone is very sweet and if you were in Irish needs there is food available. They were also help with any issues you're having money wise or anything like that. I think it's one of the best places here in bacliff for helping people in bad situations.

This place saved my life, plain and simple. I learned so much about myself here with the most beautiful, caring, nonjudgmental human beings I’ve ever met. Everyone that works here has had a day 1 of sobriety like us and that’s what made a difference to me. They know what you’re going through. I walked (more like crawled) into this place with no idea of what I was up against. I was taught about my illness and what my only option was. I healed in a way I never thought possible, and gained the incredible tools for sobriety for when life starts life-ing in the future! They trusted me so I could learn to trust myself. Additionally, the absolutely beautiful fellowship I’ve gained from BARC is something I’ll always be grateful for, utilize, and cherish for the rest of my life! It was such a sad day having to leave. Ms. Kathy, Mr. Billy, Mr. Chuck, Coco, Ashley, Masami, Lisa, Mel, Cortney, Misty, Jenna, Nurse Vicky, Jamie, I don’t know how I would’ve done it without y’all! I never thought I’d be able to manage life sober, and happily sober, and yet here we are. 6 months & 5 days clean & still going and I couldn't be more grateful and show thanks to the beautiful place & people that work there for meeting me where I was at & showing me the 12 step program & showing me what you can truly have & make happen if your willing to do the steps & truly let go of your pride & ego & be open for change & to find a power greater then yourself it works it really does if your willing to work it ! I want to give attention and praise to the in patient spinal cord injury medical team at the Michael E. DeBakey VA medical Center. My brother in law is a patient there and my husband and I visited him for the first time this week, as we are from out of town. The staff, and I mean everyone, are not only excellently skilled, but they are incredibly caring and sympathetic to the patient's needs while exhibiting the highest standards of patient care. They enter another person's story where a life altering incident has occurred and fear, uncertainty, and anxiety have taken over. They handle the lives they care for with compassion and instill hope which is badly needed. They do this with the grace of love and joy. My brother in law laughs everyday and truly values the connections he has with each and every member of his care team. And that is PRICELESS!! Not to mention the care and support that, again, each and every care team member extends to my sister in law. They understand that the hearts closest to each patient are scared and hurting as well during this uncertain time in their lives. The medical staff care team members in this department truly carry and extend the light of hope. Something so badly needed by their patients. Sending a BIG THANK YOU to you all!!

My husband is a vet & we always receive excellent service from all departments. Today, I randomly overheard a conversation walking by. Someone was lost & an employee asked if they were lost, they said yes. The staff introduced herself by name & said I'm here to HELP. She followed up with directing them in the right direction.

I had a great experience with them. I had no idea who to turn to when DV happened to me and my daughter. We received counseling & while I was hoping for legal services as well the office is a little disorganized and never heard anything back after following up many times which is why I have 4 stars instead of 5. But if you’re someone in need they do their best to help you.

An undeniable place that has what I wanted and needed. I was nervous and didn't know what to expect, however I was DEFEATED and POWERLESS!. After trying it my way many times and many failed attempts. Bay Area Recovery Center staff and clientele helped me with my illness and the crazy train that came with me. If you are struggling or know someone with addiction.
