This place was truly a life saver!! They stopped what they were doing twice within 3 weeks to come rescue me from myself over an hour and a half away. The staff is amazing and really care about your state of well-being. They don't care if you like them, they care if you live and that's the most comforting thing about this place. Oh and the snacks they offer left a stamp on my heart forever... Seriously though. This place was amazing and a saving grace!!

My dad has struggled with drug addiction for 25+ years. He recently had a massive heart attack due to drug use and his situation was becoming dire. We knew if he didn't get help he wasn't going to make it much longer. He finally agreed to get treatment and my sister found this place. He went from not wanting to go to rehab to not wanting to leave this place. He absolutely loved it and loves everyone there. He considers them family. He completed his treatment and the staff is still there to offer him support and help him succeed. Andy has been amazing at helping him find out patient programs. They truly care here. They deserve more than 5 stars.

Friendly Staff

The Council on Recovery has been a true cornerstone in our community’s fight against addiction and mental health challenges. Their staff is not only professional but incredibly compassionate, creating a safe and welcoming environment for individuals and families seeking help. From education and prevention to recovery support services, their holistic approach addresses the full spectrum of needs. I’ve personally seen lives transformed through their programs, and their impact reaches far beyond what words can fully express. Houston is lucky to have such a dedicated organization making a real difference every single day.

I began my journey of recovery for the first time with The Council in January. Truth be told, my check-in left much to be desired, but I realized January is a time when many try to turn their lives around being a new year, and The Council was so backed up. Funding cuts don't help, thank our bureaucrats for that. HOWEVER, once I was in, their staff and services have been LIFE-CHANGING. The entire staff is super friendly, starting when you walk in the door and sign in the front desk. Everyone there shows courtesy and compassion. It shows they WANT to help. But I have mainly been under the care of Miss Debra and Raylon, who I must call out for changing my life thus far. Debra teaches a twice weekly class on everything that helps staying sober. From stress to anger management, self-care, negative self-talk, and more. I've heard the buzz words a million times, but her content goes DEEP and she makes it make sense! She shows HOW it all works with examples. She creates such a safe space that it's hard not to share while in group. No one stays quiet because you feel safe under her care. I LOVE her no BS attitude. She WILL see it. But it keeps you in check. She’s the most compassionate and understanding person. You can tell it’s in her heart to help people. Then there’s Raylon who as my (intern) 1:1 therapist, has been the most productive and excellent therapist, I’ve ever had. I’ve suffered from depression all my life, and have seen 5 therapist over the years. None ever came close to scratching the surface of my inner issues like Raylon. He actively listens, asks the right follow-up and deep questions, and he peppers in his own experiences, just enough to make it all make sense and connect the dots for you. It feels more like a conversation, than just only me speaking. I needed an active and engaging therapist, not just a listener or "talk-therapy", and he is exactly what I need. Both have been responsible for my life transformation and I couldn’t be more grateful for them and The Council as a whole and what they do. I utterly recommend The Council for your recovery and remember that although things may move a little slow sometimes, give it time and treat yourself with grace. Changing your life can’t be done over-night, but as long as you make tiny, little steps every day, they'll add up and count. Before you know it, you won't even recognize yourself, you'll be a brand new person living the most genuine life you want. All the best to your journey. <3

It's been a few years since I've been to this place, it was a required outpatient program that I had to do for a legal matter. There were different options on time slots, the classes weren't too big where you'd get anxiety, but they were big enough and diversified enough where I felt comfortable sharing. Even though I did not want to be there, and I made it perfectly clear from the get-go, the staff was super kind and put up with all my BS with a smile! Admissions was extremely easy and if I remember correctly either the state or Medicaid covered the cost. For a cheaper outpatient option, this was one of the better ones I have been to. Overall a pretty decent experience for a rehab facility!

Went here when i was 16 around 2016, i will tell you this, this place will challenge your way of thinking. It was hard sometimes, people dont want to listen and its easy to succumb to negative influences, but these people here genuinely care about the kids they look after. I got to know alot on a personal level and alot of them had been through alot of the same stuff i had been through and could relate. I will say this as someone who has been through alot, you want someone who can relate to you when it comes to a rehabilitation situation. Its easier to trust someone when you know they can feel that pain too. Dont listen to all these lame people giving one stars, none of them know what they're talking about. The councilors and tech staff genuinely want to see these kids do good. They helped me see i had a problem and it isnt right that people want to bash them when they have done so much for me and my peers from that time in my life. If any of you guys see this i love yall and hope yall are doing good. Especially you Ms Haynes and mr Colbert!

I spent almost 6 months here back in 2015-16. I'm 22 now. Mr Wyllie, Ms Wendy, Mr Omar, Mr Antwuan, Mr E , Mr Aladin , all great people. I think about them, my fellow brothers and this place often. My counselor Mr Robinson was awesome as well. They fed us great, we went on trips and before I left we went to the U of H for an anniversary party and it was some o the best memories of my life. they were strict but we were still able to have fun. They looked out and cared about us. I was hard headed and didn't want to listen and I all these years later it hits me.

A lot of people who are reviewing 1 stars are just people who like to complain about everything. I've called for many things and have gone to many appointments. Never had an issue. it's not just me either. I can hear other people talking casually to the doctors and receptionist every time. There might be one bad apple in the bunch, but not enough to leave a bad review

Always friendly staff, helpful and attentive to the veterans and family members.

I checked into the right step at my bottom (wounded )on April 17th 2022, they welcomed me as I was loved me as I was took care of me as I was and I got somewhere and sit down and listen because I knew I don't know exactly at one point but it was early on that I wanted to be an alumni member, blessed to be able to have an awesome alumni coordinator. Transferred here from another facility in Tomball which I miss so much. But Ms Angie and Joshua have been welcoming and helping me with everything. Very quick being one nurse. But also watch your safety alot of homless/ shiesty people will sleep outside the clinic when it isn't open.
