Dr Brown is amazing but the person that took my vitals was great to. She had a smile on her face and showed her care for me but so did Dr. Brown. I have gotten more from my 2 visits with her than I had with my previous Psychiatrist. Even when I checked in and checked out your staff was great. The facility is magnificent and far exceeded my expectations of a recovery facility. Firstly, I was allowed to bring my fur baby with me which was a wonderful comfort to me. I don’t think I would have done as well without having her with me. The facilities are clean and well-kempt. The staff is caring, understanding, and genuinely invested in your unique recovery journey (Jacob and Sunny are phenomenal). The therapists authentically understand the journey to recovery and ensure everyone feels respected and heard. While your recovery is taken seriously and put in the work, they make the process fun and relatable. The physician and nursing staff is thorough and available 24/7 - they care about each patient and their bedside manner is impeccable. They are NOT autonomous robots like you see with a lot of other medical facilities. Nursing even does occasional group sessions on the medical aspects of recovery, post-recovery preventative care. You are even sent home with a supply of medications to help bridge the gap between discharge and your own provider. And the food… where do I start? I have travelled all over the country for work, eating at high end hotels and restaurants yet the thrice daily meal here far exceeded in quality and variety. The thrice daily, freshly cooked international cuisines were amazing! They also have juices, sodas, flavored water, coffee, teas, high end snacks, and even ice cream available 24/7. They have working washers and dryers and even provide Tide pods and dryer sheets. The outside grounds are peaceful and the outside activities during and after group sessions are relaxing. They have karaoke, acupuncture, movie nights, and yoga among other activities. I highly recommend this facility!

I Wanna start by saying thank you to everyone at PRC for helping me through this difficult process of getting sober. Where do I begin so back in January it was a learning process and a great experience for me I never thought in a million years I could have done that. However today march 28th I AM GOING STRONG ON 82 days sober and by the grace of my higher power and working the steps and making sober connections I’m sober today. I cannot recommend The Right Step enough! I stayed here from medical detox all the way through residential discharge, and they have been with me through thick and thin. The detox process was safe and as comfortable as possible. The counselors and staff truly care about your recovery and teach you the life skills you need. So thankful for my Santa Maria Family. My sister was her about 3 times in 2 years. Every time we tried to get her admitted, we didn’t follow protocol and the staff always assisted us and she was always approved! The staff looked out for my sister and niece, it takes a village and thank god for each and every staff member here! From the counselors to the security. I still updated them on my sister because I know they care for her. I never got to visit inside so no comment but i witnessed my sister get her own place, look healthier by the day and get employment. She a break and time to recover. My dad has struggled with drug addiction for 25+ years. He recently had a massive heart attack due to drug use and his situation was becoming dire. We knew if he didn't get help he wasn't going to make it much longer. He finally agreed to get treatment and my sister found this place. He went from not wanting to go to rehab to not wanting to leave this place. He absolutely loved it and loves everyone there. He considers them family. He completed his treatment and the staff is still there to offer him support and help him succeed. Andy has been amazing at helping him find out patient programs. They truly care here. I don’t even know where to begin, because “thank you” doesn’t feel big enough for what this place has done for me. I came here at one of the lowest points in my life, unsure of who I was or if I even had a future worth fighting for. I stayed 45 days, and in that time, something in me completely shifted. This wasn’t just about getting sober—it was about learning how to live again. The staff here didn’t treat me like a number or a problem to fix. They treated me like a human being who mattered. Every single person I encountered—from the counselors to the support staff—showed genuine care, patience, and understanding. They met me exactly where I was, even on my hardest days. The program gave me tools I actually use in real life, not just while I was there. More importantly, it helped me reconnect with something deeper—my sense of purpose, my spirituality, and my will to keep going. What really stands out is the support system. Even after completing the program, I don’t feel alone. That sense of community is so strong that I’ve chosen to stay in the area and continue building my life here. Today, I’m 60 days sober. This was the best decision I could have made for my mental wellness. Everyone has life issues and experiences. Sometimes you don’t know you need professional help until you’re in the middle of it. Well I was. I am blessed to have a support system who was on board for my self care. I researched various IOPs/PHPs that my psychiatrist suggested. The Heights Treatment sounded like the best fit for me. Based on reviews and researching the area, solidified my choice to start treatment there. So I did. From the intake for IOP5, to individual therapy sessions, to group sessions including equine therapy, to individual sessions with Dr. R, was well thought out to get this group of professionals to help people. The one who held it together with scheduling to communicating to even listening for a couple of minutes in passing, was truly a blessing. Their client care services, Adam, is kind and professional. They all make you feel welcome. Bre - my therapist, help tremendously. Various group sessions, helped me realize so much. They gave me the tools to help me reach my goals. They helped me choose to do the work. Be it daily checking in, verbalizing my emotion at the time, concerns, etc, these are the things for me, that were so beneficial in my mental wellness. Heights Treatment was a Godsend and it saved my life. I love how unique each therapist is. They have a wide variety of therapies including equine therapy, emdr, trauma processing, as well as individual and group therapy.
