If you have severe depression resistant to treatment, you may qualify for transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), a pioneering treatment that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate specific neurons in the brain. TMS is an FDA approved, noninvasive treatment with no systemic side effects. TMS is an outpatient treatment given daily for several weeks. You’ll be alert and awake during your session.
