About The Heights Houston Drug Rehab & Mental Health Treatment

The Heights Treatment Center in Houston, Texas, offers individuals drug, alcohol and mental health rehabilitation programs. They follow a holistic approach that incorporates various therapies and specialized services. The levels of care offered include the partial hospitalization program and the intensive outpatient program.

Specialized Care To Support Your Recovery

When you start your treatment at the facility, you’ll be assigned a primary therapist and a family therapist who will put together your treatment plan. The professional staff have many years of experience helping individuals with substance use disorder. Some of the specialized services you might participate in to help with your recovery include trauma informed yoga and neurofeedback therapy.

In trauma informed yoga sessions, a yoga therapist will guide you through postures and breathwork to connect you with your parasympathetic nervous system. They’ll encourage you to focus on the present moment to help you have more peace of mind, which can make recovery from addiction more possible.

Addiction Treatment Near Near Downtown

Located on D’amico Street, you’re not far from the center of Houston. In between your treatment sessions, you can relax and walk in well known areas such as the Sabine Street Bridge and the Eleanor Tinsley Park.

Diverse Therapy Groups and Activities

One thing I like about The Heights Treatment Center is that it provides unique groups and activities to promote healing. A few of them include The Daring Way, art therapy, and equine therapy. The Daring Way treatment methodology focuses on helping clients struggling with addiction experience less shame and find their inner strength through vulnerability.

This was the best decision I could have made for my mental wellness. Everyone has life issues and experiences. Sometimes you don’t know you need professional help until you’re in the middle of it. Well I was. I am blessed to have a support system who was on board for my self care. I researched various IOPs/PHPs that my psychiatrist suggested. The Heights Treatment sounded like the best fit for me. Based on reviews and researching the area, solidified my choice to start treatment there. So I did. From the intake for IOP5, to individual therapy sessions, to group sessions including equine therapy, to individual sessions with Dr. R, was well thought out to get this group of professionals to help people. The one who held it together with scheduling to communicating to even listening for a couple of minutes in passing, was truly a blessing. Their client care services, Adam, is kind and professional. They all make you feel welcome. Bre - my therapist, help tremendously. Various group sessions, helped me realize so much. They gave me the tools to help me reach my goals. They helped me choose to do the work. Be it daily checking in, verbalizing my emotion at the time, concerns, etc, these are the things for me, that were so beneficial in my mental wellness. Trust your gut. Don’t hesitate to get the help. If you choose The Heights Treatment, you will be in great hands.

The Heights Houston Drug Rehab & Mental Health Treatment works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

After completing some form of inpatient care, many clients transition or step down to an outpatient rehab, while some choose to transition from detox directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education, and some also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).

Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. The Intensive Outpatient Program gives patients the chance to participate in a structured treatment plan part-time while they transition back to home and work or other responsibilities.

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

24-hour clinical care in Texas provides a safe environment for medical detox. This setting is crucial to provide medical care during withdrawal. Certain withdrawal symptoms can cause life-threatening conditions, but patients in a supervised clinical setting have treatment readily available to address any symptoms before they become severe. Treatment can also be provided for co-occurring physical and mental health issues.

Clinical Services

The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Texas is to change thought patterns, which leads to changes in behavior. Specific techniques during CBT can include self talk, SMART goals, journaling, and positive activities.

Treatment that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach focuses on four strategies. Distress tolerance will help you accept and tolerate intense emotions. Emotional regulation will teach you to manage those emotions. Mindfulness will keep you in the present moment instead of regret or worry. Interpersonal effectiveness will teach you to manage your relationships.

The purpose of family therapy is to create a supportive and understanding family dynamic within the family unit. Therapists help individual members to identify and change harmful behavior patterns and improve communication. This provides a stable foundation for the family and their loved one's recovery.

Creative arts therapy focuses on creative processes. You may engage in sculpting, dancing, improv, painting, or sketching. These creative outlets provide an opportunity to explore and express difficult emotions.

Together with an experienced trauma therapist, you work on healing emotional wounds from traumatic experiences within a trauma therapy environment. Your therapist will help you process the experience of the trauma, which promotes emotional healing and improves your overall mental health.
