Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Program at Clear Lake is ideal for those individuals who work, attend to college or have other responsibilities every day. The structured program is a perfect option for those who don't require residential care. Their program is client and family centered because they believe that addiction is devastating for both, the individual and his/her family.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers intensive addiction treatment while allowing you to return home each day. It can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option. Depending on your needs, PHP treatment typically averages 90 days with a weekly requirement of 6-8 hours a day. PHP treatment offers a variety of therapeutic interventions such as individual counseling, group therapy, and psychoeducation. Oftentimes PHP treatment can be fully covered by insurance.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Ridding the body of harmful, addictive substances, also known as detoxification, is usually the first phase of recovery. Those going through medically assisted detox can be administered medications by a team of medical professionals who are on-site 24/7 to provide different types of therapies that help mitigate withdrawal symptoms.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Texas is to change thought patterns, which leads to changes in behavior. Specific techniques during CBT can include self talk, SMART goals, journaling, and positive activities.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

I have a family member that went to PRC Clear Lake for IOP. Alcoholism is powerful disease, it ruins lives, relationships, jobs and in some cases kills. My family member has been battling for years, through numerous 30 day residential programs, out patient counseling, sober-living and attending AA meetings. I started Al-Anon for the same reason as my life affected by alcohol was unmanagable and I was going crazy trying to keep not only my alcoholic above water and safe, but also myself. The IOP experience I shared on a family day was helpful. The faciltator Tom D., a long haired pony tailed hippie type with a love of music, peace and all things spiritual, created a friendly and inviting atmosphere of inclusion and healing when he called me by name, and I arrived alone. During our family group time I was able to provide some resources for those other family members whom were experiencing the pain of loving and caring for someone in addiction. I found that the shares by others in the room as well as myself were direct, honest and emotional. There was a safe environment for not only letting yourself speak without being criticized or judged, but to also be honest, and in some cases maybe the first time to do so, regarding addiction or how it affects people. The time passed quickly, people were engaged and communicative, Tom kept things moving in a positive direction and also recogized if people needed time to collect themselves, leave the setting or just have some silence. Recovery is hard stuff. No program can save those unwilling to do the work, it takes dedication, honesty and surrender. Tom has a willingness and desire to help those under his charge. We speak infrequently but I know he even provides me with needed insght and understanding and he does that for clients. This extends beyond the paying client relationship. My limited interactions with Tom (group setting) and John (business office) have been professional, friendly and reliable. I don't usually grade 5 stars as I think there is always opportunity for a better experience and improvement. Hence, my high 4 rating. I'm not a paying client, just a family member on the fringe but I was included in the recovery process and that means a lot to me, as the disease of addiiction is bigger than the one 'with the problem' - it is a family problem.

After sharing vulnerable information about my self I was then further traumatized by Tom D. I believe he has good intentions, however I feel he needs additional training. Specifically regarding women in recovery and his role as an advocate and spiritual leader.

If you are serious about adopting a new lifestyle free from alcohol, Tom D. at the Clearlake location of PRC will help you. I went to residential at Garden Oaks and had a mixed experience. The residential advisor supervisor and Rebecca are not kind nor interested in true healing of people seeking help. My experience is they do not act as peers as their video depicts. The MD, nurses, most of the therapists, and Julie are fantastic! With that said, I turned the page when I went to Intensive outpatient therapy in Clearlake. Tom D. is an individual who understands addiction is not a 9-5 disease and is always ready with resources, wisdom, and help. His classes challenge and enlighten at the same time. The groups he leads are thought provoking and humbling. Tom comes across at first as an old hippie that talks to much, however, as you progress, I realized the benefit of listening to his ideas and experience. Tom has so many years in recovery that he can guide you to any resource you may need whether you are a man, women, married, single, addicted to alcohol/drugs, want meeting spots, a first/new sponsor, AL anon for your family, spirituality or connecting to the larger AA community. I am blessed to have really started my recovery journey at PRC in Clearlake! Peace!

Having a problem is hard, trying to solve it without someone with enough knowledge about it or by yourself is even harder. I was lucky enough to be given Tom Dodgson’s contact info and through the program I’ve seen old bad habits fade and more positive habits form. It took me wanting something more than what I had and along with Tom we traveled that path together. If you’d like to see some of your older bad habits be replaced and your willing to put in the work, because it is work. Then talk to Tom if you can but mainly just talk to someone.

Someone very important to me and my life and my being is a former patient of Positive Recovery Centers of Clear Lake. Before their journey took them to PRC-CL, I felt there was no hope for us and I didn't know what to do. But within months. they began to change. They're now the beautiful, perfect person that I knew was there. Now, our relationship is stronger than ever and grows everyday. PRC-CL continues to help them every day, with guidance, support, and by providing skills to help them understand who they are and how to be the person they want to be. I could go on for hours about how much of a difference PRC-CL has made in their life. Thank you, PRC-CL!
