I feel so sorry for my brother for choosing this hospital, just because it was close to his home in Manassas. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a terrible choice. The hospital has some very inconvenient and frustrating rules. Most of the entrance doors are locked, and only one is open. You re forced to walk all the way around the hospital buildings just to find the way in or out even after parking in a designated area, which is far from the entrance. Some of the nurses are kind and professional, and I truly appreciate their care. But others are surprisingly rude, acting like they re running the place or like they re too important to deal with patients and families. The attitude from certain staff members was really disappointing.Overall, the experience was frustrating, and I wouldn t recommend this hospital based on what we went through.

I ran out of a medicine Saturday and desperately needed help to get me through until Monday when my normal pharmacy opened. I appreciate how respectful everyone was to me and how quickly they helped. Bless you for treating me like a human with compassion.

I want to give my opinion about this place. I was there and it was a good experience. They were quick to attend to the patient. The truth is that UVA Health came to change everything. I advise that if you have an emergency, go there, don't hesitate. It's a new administration. It's like being in Fairfax Hospital. If there were 20 stars, I would give them to them.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you enroll in drug rehab in Virginia, a treatment plan is designed by professional staff in order to help you overcome drug addiction and modify addictive behaviors. This may include evidence-based treatments, group and individual therapy, and relapse prevention.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Something that I loved about William Medical Center was that they showed me everything I needed to learn step by step to make sure I understood completely what I needed to change. The program was also great and covered everything I needed it to cover.

I needed antibiotics for mrsa (staff) infection and they said because I was a former drug addic I had to stay there inpatient to get the medication while everyone else is allowed to go home and have a nurse come there and give the bags of antibiotics. I feel discriminated against. They say that I might use the “pick line” (injection site) to inject illegal drugs and overdose. I can overdose and inject illegal drugs just fine without a pick line. Ridiculous logic.Wish I could afford to sue and change this hurtful policy.

I would have given 5 starts but the registration process failed. My father it's a cardiac patient and had fainted/shaking/shivering when we arrived. No one was at the ER door to help get my father out of the car. Security came to PUSH THE WHEELCHAIR, Told Security the severity of the case while I went to park. When I walked in my father was literally kissing his belly button and the front desk asking WHATS YOUR DATE OF BIRTH? I ALMOST LOST IT. Front desk need to be train to differiante between emergencies. Other than that, Dr Teng, Nurse Daniela, Nurse Alejandra Nurse Sianna, Dr Adnan were amazing. My father was very happy with the care. He had to stay 2 days. Thank you for the team! But please work on the ER check in. The triage machine in the lobby was just there lonely.

The Radiology Department at UVA provides the worst services and that's because the department is being managed by an unqualified, incompetent manager.

Lactation team for my wife's postpartum care was amazing. We were so stressed about feeding our new baby and were having so much trouble....then this angel by the name of Andri came into our room. She was so patient and understanding she was quick to assess the situation and gave us so much support. Our feedings went smoothly after that. What an amazing experience!

Absolutely Horrible Experience – Avoid This Hospital This hospital is a complete disaster. The service was unbelievably bad, the staff was disorganized, and most of the doctors seemed like they had just graduated with zero real experience. The level of unprofessionalism was shocking. They almost killed my brother's daughter due to their negligence and lack of proper care. We thank God every day that he was able to transfer her to Fairfax Hospital, where she finally received the urgent and professional treatment she needed. If you care about your loved ones, stay away from this place. They are not equipped to handle serious medical situations, and trusting them could cost someone their life. Shameful.

Most UVA providers are some of the better in the area, but Joseph Brooks in the ER really disappoints. He accused my wife of being after medication in his notes and misrepresented her symptoms. He noted that she was sitting calmly only after administering medication to calm her. He was barely present and gave the impression that he just wanted her out of the ER instead of looking to treat her. Thankfully her primary care provider was able to dissent on the content of his notes. I don’t care how stressful or busy the ER is, there’s no need to assume someone is out to get high instead of actually treating them.

Rude security staff, but amazing nurses and doctors. FYI its haunted on 3rd level (can hear dragging chairs, tables and screeching noises all night long from that floor). When asked nurses there, there is no one who is on that floor. Spooky vibes

I don't understand all the bad reviews I've never had a bad experience here. We've been here for two ER visits for my dad when he was critical, my wife and I had our 2nd baby here, and been in and out for labs and tests many times. We've always had a great experience here and really impressed with the nurses!

I've never had a worse emergency room experience. If i could give 0stars, I would. Dr. Reddy lacked care and frankly may not even know what he is doing. I had a procedure aborted for extremely high blood pressure and was wheeled to the ER to have my blood pressure stabilized via an IV medication. After waiting 1 hour on the lobby, I was finally wheeled into the ER Hallway. There were no rooms! The hallways were being used as rooms. After waiting another hour, i was wheeled to the doorway of a room where another patient was occupying and crying horribly from whatever was ailing them. The curtain was drawn to provide some sort of "privacy" between me and the other patient whose door I was blocking. Some time later, dr Reddy walks up to me and says he was discharging me because it looked liked my blood pressure was better. I said how? I've been waiting for 2 and half hours with no medication, I'm curious how you think it just magically resolved on its own. He told me to follow up with my PCP walked away. I then asked a nurse walking past that I would like to change out of the gown that I was wheeled in in and into my own clothes. He showed me where the bathroom was, I went in and changed. Came back out and as I was getting ready to leave, a nurse comes to me and hands me discharge papers talking about it has the tests that were done. I told her no tests were done, absolutely nothing was done. I'm being sent home the way I came in. She decided to take my blood pressure again. It was 177/96. She was baffled as to why dr Reddy was discharging me but could do anything about it but apologize for my experience. I spent 3hrs in the ER for no reason at all. If anything happens to me while I wait to see my PCP in 4days, my family will be suing Dr. Reddy personally as well as the entire UVA Health systems.
