I would have to say this is the first time i have used this VA center but as a transfer i was able to get my first appointment with my PCM on Yellow team in 4 weeks. My experience with other centers is it took months. I went into the ED tonight and it was empty. The procedure for check in really wasn't posted but but with that being said even though i was there for something most would consider minor and a waste of ED resources the nurse and Dr Douglas treated me with the utmost respect and actually listened to what i was saying. My experience in any ED is once they treat your complaint they street you. But Dr Douglas made the time with me quality she took time to ask if I needed any other problems addressed. I will see how my interactions with the rest of the hospital goes but I am highly impressed with the ED please continue the service.

I had to go to Medstar Washington Hospital Center because of severe pain in my arm. I was examined and referred for A MRI. both times I was respected and the competent level was high. I was even contacted by the hospital to set up other appointments that I needed after that. I like this hospital so much until I'm getting ready to see if it's a dental department that I can go to. This place is the GREATEST! Many years ago, in the 90's, I was in a very bad place mentally. In fact, I was escorted to their 14th & T St NW location, by a close friend of mine, whom I confessed that I just tried to commit suicide the night before. Quite frankly, I was more upset that my attempt wasn't successful and scared because I knew that it should've been. I knew I didn't want to die, but I just didn't know how to live and process my feelings in ways that it wouldn't cause me so much pain to survive. I walked into Whitman-Walker clinic and the help was immediate, they were committed, professional, incredible and very patent with me. Thirty -One years later, I am so grateful and appreciative for their service. I don't know anything about their other services, but if it's anything like their Mental Health Department, you're in the right place.

As a photographer being at loose ends awaiting a Peace Corps assignment in Africa, Ron asked me to set up a photo program, and build a darkroom to encourage people in the RAP program to develop those skills to help take their minds off heroin. In the process I witnessed some pretty harrowing cold turkey withdrawal by young folks on a couch just outside the darkroom. Unforgettable. If I remember, RAP was then located up behind the Hilton in Adams Morgan.

After two years of some discomfort with a broken wisdom tooth, I finally decided it was time to get it removed. My visit with Dr. Buck was exceptional from beginning to end. The front desk representative Delia greeting me with a smile giving assurance my visit will be delightful. The dental assistant Ricki got me settled, seated and prepared for my extraction. Ricki was comforting she kept me smiling and laughing while I waited for the anesthesia to kick in. My procedure took about 40 minutes. I m delighted to say I felt no pain during the procedure, other than the injection of the anesthesia I didn t feel any puncturing on my gums, this to say the tooth was taken in three pieces. There was no soreness afterwards, there no need for the pain medication provided or to take a day off. Dr. Buck did wonders! He is absolutely of the best dentist here at Whitman-Walker and to be honest in the DMV! If you have to in his waitlist I believe it s worth it.

I've been going every so often to this location of Whitman-Walker Health since it first opened. I've always gotten good service here, but today I ended up late to an appointment because of the security guard on the first floor.I was still seen by JJ and his manager, Monique. They listened to my frustrations and worked to reschedule my appointment for right after lunch. My mood completely turned around. My phlebotomist this afternoon was also wonderful and was very good-natured.This is the best service I've gotten from this new Max-Robinson Center. I have been at Good Hope Institute for almost 6 years, and in my opinion it's no better and no worse than any other methadone maintenance program. I've been on methadone maintenance for over 30 years and have been at many different facilities, so I believe I know a good one from a bad one. At GHI, you get from it what you put into it. If you want to get clean and stay clean you can; if you want maintenance you can do that, or you can detox. No one is getting rich from keeping someone on the program who doesn't want to be there. One thing you cannot do there is drift along continuing to get high and drinking methadone, and you cannot come in with a sense of entitlement or a nasty attitude and expect people to jump over hoops to do what you want. With all the addicts they're dealing with, and the turnover lately in staff yes, things can sometimes move a little slower than we'd like, but no where on earth are you going to get all your desires instantly! Sometimes you have to be patient, and this program is no different.GHI is not a bad clinic. Sometimes staff there have not been as caring as they could have been, and there have been those who had downright nasty attitudes. They're individual people though, they do not represent the whole clinic. If you want to get off opiates and you're not afraid to work to stay clean you can do it at Good Hope Institute.UPDATE: As of this year, 2019, Good Hope Institute no longer exists as such. They are a completely different clinic, run by completely different management and under a new system. Any of the posts from before, they're talking about a completely different clinic. And I still say if a person is willing to put the work in, they can get and remain clean just as well here as anywhere else.

Our conversation started with me finding out what Ayurvedic Health Therapy is. After seeing how committed Lise Stevens was to learning this practice and her desire to improve the health condition of not only herself but of friends and family I asked for an official consultation. As we talked about my eating, work and relaxing habits she began to recognize the pattern and recommended some small eating and relaxing changes I could make to improve my life and health. After consulting with her and following some of the recommended smaller things like cutting back sugary snacks drinking more water and walking as well as relaxing in a way to benefits my mind, body and spirit I began to feel better about my view on health. I've felt this helped my personal growth and focus to mover forward with a new house and new car, also giving me a clear mind to process and deal with the changes. Thanks Lise your guidance has enriched my health and spirit and I appreciate it so much.

Let's hope so.

The Wound Care Clinic showed expertise and efficiency; I was surprised by how many patients were there, and once I was seen, my wounds were treated, I got supplies for rebandaging, and I got an appointment for follow-up.
