This was my first time in treatment. Honestly, it completely changed my life. The bonds that I ve made in this place, the sober network I ve built, getting my psych meds right, the entire staff and facilitators- have all been such an extraordinary experience for me. I never understood the difference between just being sober/clean versus actually working a program/recovery. RU has helped me to understand that recovery goes beyond clean time- and it s about changing who you are for the better and continuing to progress as a person overall. *REWRITE* I can be honest..my previous review was not great because I had issues with the billing dept..resolved! But I felt like my review would have overshadowed ALL of the hardworking doctors, pa's, nurse's,technicians and other amazing staff that we encountered during our 11 day inpatient stay. The issues we faced were life-threatening. But we would have never made it thru them without the guidance, medical expertise without all of those involved in our care❤️ Not one person was short of COMPASSION! The care was CONSISTENT! Dr.Ennis and Dr.Tawfik COMMUNICATED with me EVERYDAY,and when off they made sure that everyone else did too:) They truly cared for us while in their CARE! I am definitely glad that they were a part of our care team and we truly looking forward to continuing care with the providers and with VHC:)

Appointments are always very well scheduled with little to no wait time to see the providers. Art is a great counselor. He listens so well to you, I wish the sessions were longer, that's how good of a counselor he is. Kyle Jones has been my Physician and he is very sweet, a good listener and always asks how one is doing besides just prescribing medications. I have also seen Stephanie Rutherford who has been injecting my Vivitrol shots. She is also very sweet and knows her stuff. I have been with this program for over eight years. There are so many opportunities offered in the program now it is amazing! Patients learn tools through the comprehensive education of our core groups of drug education, relapse prevention, coping skills, dual diagnosis, life skills, mindfulness, etc. Patients also have the opportunities of learning how to use a computer, build their resumes, get tutoring for the GED, take the GED test, go to Driver's Education, take college courses and the list is building everyday. I have taken several program participants to various medical and mental health appointments over the years both in Virginia and in Maryland and was hands down super impressed with the staff at the CSB juvenile, adult, and emergency services. There was quite a wait for emergency services but each department communicated with each other and was so polite. Brian Stewart is one of the few names that we caught but he was phenomenal. The staff checked on us, fed us, and gave us blankets. We saw them touching base with some individuals who were clearly in crisis and they were just so patient and caring. Dr. Smith was our emergency services doc and I wish he could see people regularly because he was funny and he made my program participant feel heard. I have been with an individual to the primary care as well and enjoyed the collaboration with DO Pristell.

Going to CFD McLean for ARFID treatment saved my life. When I entered the facility, I was a shell of myself and had zero 'safe' foods; with the support of all the staff, this number quickly grew to 50+. Specifically for ARFID, this facility is equipped and incredibly knowledgeable + understand the severity of this ED. They are also incredibly knowledgeable of Celiac disease and food allergies + sensitivities. The staff goes above and beyond to make the environment safe during meals, exposures, in the communal area and kitchen, group sessions, individual therapy, nutrionally, etc - anywhere where there is a potential trigger for ARFID. Exposures to 'new' foods are done safely and with support from the staff. I will call out that Specifically, Scott is phenomenal at supporting and guiding patients through food exposures. Anna (dietician) does everything in her power and more to assure that the care plan is tailored to needs and is balanced. She is also a master at collaborating with other care team members to make sure that patients are well supported. Kathy as a therapist truly understands ARFID and tailors all therapy to make sure that a patient is going to be able to meet goals and is supported through all the moments: highs, lows, amd everything in between. I need to credit Scott, a tech, for singlehandedly saving me. His care, willingness to support through all the moments, guidance, and consistent support is why I was able to get back on my feet - he is truly 1 in a million and CFD is the luckiest to have such a kind, passionate, and caring staff member on their team. Every single staff member at CFD cares and patients can literally feel it through their advocacy, support, guidance, and everything in between. Amanda, Kayla, Jennifer, Liz, Emily K, Emily R, Ona, Dr.Irving were also instrumental in getting me back on my feet. Highly recommend CFD McLean to anyone seeking residential ED treatment!

An excellent house to go if you're in need of mental health care. Unlike going to a hospital psyche ward, where the nurses are just waiting for their shift to end and the doctor talks to you quickly and writes some prescriptions and rushes you out to see the next patient, the entire staff focuses on you. From the doctor, to the counselors and even the cooking staff, they focus on every patient as an individual and get deeply involved in your case. A very warm, cozy, welcoming environment, nice rooms and bathrooms, and excellent food. It's like a second home you can collect yourself and gather your thoughts and prepare for the outside world again. I highly recommend.

The house that is associated with this property is a great place to go if you're in need of emergency mental health care and assistance from substance abuse. They do not offer detox specifically but if you're doing a detox, they are able to support with their varied staff of psychiatrists, PRN, nurses, and psychologists as well as peer support specialists. I wouldn't have made it to today as psychologically intact as I am without them! My issues were: they cannot always accommodate a vegetarian or vegan diet & the nightly bed checks require some disturbance if you're a light sleeper. They offer ear plugs but you may want to bring a sleep mask to get your best rest. They are genuinely caring people and I highly recommend!
