About Recovery Centers of America at Danvers

Recovery Centers of America at Danvers provides substance abuse treatment in Danvers, Massachusetts. They have detox, residential and outpatient programs for a complete continuum of care.

Your recovery begins with an assessment to help the team determine your appropriate level of care. Medically supervised detox is available with 24 hour supervision to ensure safety. They offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) to lessen withdrawal symptoms and reduce drug cravings. This service is often the first phase of recovery treatment. They use FDA approved medicines to provide more comfort during this stage.

Inpatient treatment provides a supportive, structured setting where guests can focus on recovery without outside distractions. Residents have a rigorous schedule with routines that encourage sobriety. Outpatient care includes more flexibility and is best for those who want to live at home and continue working or attending school while getting treatment.

Guests attend individual therapy sessions where they can uncover the root causes of their addiction. Counseling emphasizes developing coping skills, recognizing substance use triggers, and designing a customized treatment plan based on your recovery needs.

Group therapy sessions allow opportunities with others in recovery where connections are encouraged. They provide a supportive network for your sobriety and may offer valuable feedback for your recovery.

You’re encouraged to attend 12 Step meetings like Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous. These meetings include peer based support, and you can work on accepting accountability and responsibility for your sobriety.

Aftercare is available with their Alumni Association. The group creates a supportive network and may involve continued therapy and community support meetings for ongoing recovery efforts. They accept many insurance plans and have an admissions team to help verify your specific coverage.

Some of the staff is awesome, others are rude. I went there to detox from alcohol and got what I needed despite the mostly incompetent nursing staff. The place was nice and clean and the food was good. Unfortunately, People were outright using drugs in the facility, which made me very uncomfortable. Apparently, This is a known thing that happens. Some of the staff is amazingly awesome, others should probably not work there. One of the r s's was so messed up she kept bumping into my bed and almost unable to get back put the door. It's the blatant use of drugs in the facility that is so bothersome. It's sad that some people are there to get help and others are just abusing the system. I did however get the treatment that I needed, for that, I am thankful. I specifically stated I was only there for detox and they put me out 30 days from my job. Now,I'm having to jump through hoops and get the paperwork just to go back to work. It's a nice facility but the shenanigans going on there is upsetting.

I also feel this place is a money scam. I felt very presured with Frank, the concelor on unit 5 trying to convince me stay very much. As they make $2500 a day off one person. Most of the food was terrible like prison food. The beds smelt very bad even with cleaned sheets. They also only gave me 2 pairs of the 8 pairs of socks I had brought with me. I had asked Laura D. The older nurse on unit 5 for some Sox and she blatantly said NO and continued on with her conversation un work related with her co worker. There where 2 of them just talking there. Not sure what she had against me or my roomates who also complained. She also said I wouldn't be getting my sub subscription for a few days my first day there which made me want to leave right away. She lied to me, I got it the next day. I was treated with disrespect from most all the staff the entire time I was there because I said I needed to leave as Lauara D. Told me I wouldn't be getting my meds. They had took me off my other medication that I had been on for over a year within 5 days. It was a benzodiazapan. I was taking a lot before entering and they took me off of it in 5 days. They went from 8mg to 0 in 5 days. I felt very sick and stuck there as they wouldn't get me a ride home. They'll pick you up but won't bring you home. You're stuck. Luckly I had a refill on my script and there was a cvs 20 minutes away walking distance when I left.Jenell a case manger on unit 5 made sure i was out the door and locked out in the cold with an uncharged phone. She didn't seem to care at all. She seemed over worked rushed with everything and the whole unit was under staffed. She was rude to me, I heard her scuff about me several times. Like she didn't care to help me at. I heard from her once in 5 days. No one seemed to care much there about how much stress I was under and that I was still detoxing until I complained 3 times and they said they'd extend the taper which still wasn't enough medication. That took 2 days and I had to wait 3 hours to talk to a real Nurse practitioner about it.Laura D. The older nurse was the worse nurse I've ever delt with in all hospitals and detoxes I've ever been to. She wouldn't let me talk and would talk over me not letting me say anything. She would not listen. She wouldn't get me a real nurse practitioner to talk to when I was feeling terrible the first day they took me off the benzodiazapans after Frank, a counselor left me with her and walked away. She said that I hadn't taken my comfort meds. That's not what I detoxing from. I heard from both my other 2 roommates I had within the week I was there that she was rude and obnoxious to them as well.Janell the case manger also wouldn't get me my phone for my buisness so i could reschedule a few appoinments after I had over heard someone else was able to get their phone to get a number out of it. This costed me thousands of dollars. When you come into the main lobby of this place, they're nice to you. But once you get in there it's a whole new ball game.Frank the other med nurse was also rude to me and seemed on edge. He had me wait 30 minutes at one point to get my morning medication. Because I didn't have my blood pressure taken. Which i didnt need to have taken for one particular. This other lady Kristina with very large thick glasses yelled at me in the hallway to look her in the eye to tell her my name. She was also very rude and wouldnt let me talk. It almost started a fight with me and this other patient that wouldn't mind his own buisness. I told her 3 or 4 times what my name was maybe 5. It was completely uncalled for with the tone in her voice. I was simply asking for my mail. Liz who I had talked to when I first came in told me I could have my medication mailed to me without having to sign a release from that Dr. Who prescribes that medication. So I had it mailed overnight and it is still lost in the mail to this day. Turns out they wouldn't give it to me anyway unless I signed a release. She lied to me.Don't go to RCA unless you don't mind being treated terribly and not respected.

Accepted Insurance

Recovery Centers of America at Danvers works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Detox programs are a critical part of an alcohol and drug rehab program for many patients. Detoxification can pose serious health risks and must be carried out under medical supervision. Medications may be involved to ensure a safe withdrawal while helping to ease the pain and discomfort often associated with withdrawal symptoms. Patients undergoing detox are closely monitored 24 hours a day by physicians and other medical staff. It’s important to understand that detox alone is never considered a full course of treatment. It’s often a necessary first step for many patients, and it prepares them to move on to their next level of outpatient or residential care.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Initial recovery can and should be boosted by a residential treatment program. They offer a complete holistic health experience at Westminster, providing state-of-the-art personalized treatment. You’ll enjoy an integrated health experience complete with modern, comfortable, and classically appointed accommodations within their residential treatment program.
12-step icon12-Step
First created in 1935 by the group Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), this program has spawned multiple 12-step fellowships and has, through the concepts of honest self-evaluation and affirmation of certain virtuous principles, become a staple of alcohol and drug rehab programs. The values of the 12-step program are omnipresent throughout our treatment plans. Recovery Centers of America helps their patients replace negative people, places and things with positive people, places and things. They believe in every patient’s ability to learn and thrive with good treatment, and that a rigorous 12-step foundation enables patients to transition successfully into a life of recovery.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn’t spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. It’s a top priority at the Boston Center for Addiction Treatment to provide continued support to their patients beyond their stay. Their Alumni program offers them a chance to connect with others who’ve been on similar paths, as well as the support needed to remain successful.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Addiction is a highly complex problem, and drug rehab in Massachusetts is often necessary to address it. These programs treat physical, mental, and relational issues that are involved. Treatment empowers individuals to manage these issues without the use of drugs.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. At The Boston Center for Addiction Treatment, their Family Program offers the education, skills, and support needed for family members to join the journey of recovery. Addiction impacts not just the sufferer, but the family as well – and they’re there to help.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

If you are experiencing intense, negative emotions, dialectical behavior therapy can help you learn how to regulate painful emotions and manage the interpersonal situations that generate them. This method is often used during substance use treatment in Massachusetts to help you develop better coping skills and avoid relapse.

This place deserves NO star. They don't let You have your phone. Therefore you have to use their phone but you're not allowed to call to ask fir ride or they hang the phone up midcall. They tale 4 hrs to discharge you but give you time limit to get off property! This is impossible when you are waiting For a ride coming two hours away. Otherwise they call the police on you for trespass. Even though they collect over a thousand dollars A day. To give you shit food in an overcrowded "psychiatric" ward" that they overdrug patients on .methadone Until they are falling asleep standing up and drooling Or sitting at a table with their face in their peanut butter and jelly sandwich. You get to drink water for lunch and dinner. Mainly consisting of high carb low protein diet. And they have entry level people conducting sober meetings and gatherings that they are under qualified to do. There is no therapist you have a counselor. They don't dose you meds to your needs and bottom line is profit. They gave us Powdered eggs and toast to offset the cost of the memorial day Picnic that they advertise , which really isn't a picnic. You don't go outside. Good luck if you chose this facility.

Was skeptical about the program but was beyond pleased at how helpful, informative, and engaging it actually was. I voluntarily decided to try RCA’s outpatient dual diagnosis program and I have nothing but great things to say about it! The staff though small was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and the fact that the staff is a smaller team it definitely gives off a sense of a almost a family like atmosphere. I would recommend it to anyone who’s struggling with any mental health or substance abuse issues. It’s never too late to change your life for the better and you don’t have to do it alone and just my experience but I would recommend RCA hands down.

Rca Danvers was amazing, almost all the staff were very supportive. You always have a few you don't like, but I'll say 95% were awesome. Just make sure to ask what you can bring with you, I went there without knowing which made it a lil rougher. Unit 5 rocks, met so many great people I'll never forget, and the staff really care. Huge shout out to David my counselor, rock on... Now on to continue my journey, thanks again so much to everyone. P.S. use R's in your words kid hahaha

This place varies highly on what unit you end up, and the staff there on a given day. Your experience can be excellent, to poor based on that. The amenities are better than other nearby options.. but be aware there is sometimes a waitlist and they will tell you they can treat any substance no matter how long or how much of it.. but if you’re older/on a heavy amount of alcohol or benzos for long periods of time, go to the hospital and get stabilized before coming. chances are if you don’t do that, you’ll go in and seize/collapse, be sent to the hospital where they’ll stabilize you; and then send you back. the med protocols aren’t one size fit all despite they’re done as such, and people in higher risk categories need to advocate for themselves to avoid a crisis. this place with the right staff is a solid spot, but they can be understaffed with not everyone there for the right reasons, causing a lower quality of patient care. do your research on all facilities, don’t let anyone on the phone/staff push you around or gaslight you “it’s your addiction talking” into making any decisions that don’t feel right/you feel you aren’t getting the right care, and make sure YOU go in for the right reasons, otherwise you’ll never get it right for yourself. take care, and best of luck to anyone reading this ❤️🙏

This was my first time at a detox and was told it was a great place yet unfortunately I didn’t have this experience at all, from staff appearing to be using and almost fallen on us while sleeping. Also my roommate having seizures and when I asked for help was told to go back to sleep it’s part of the process. Patients actively using and also knowing private information that only staff should be aware of and when brought up to staff they play like they aren’t aware also patients using staff cellphones when they don’t allow patients to use there cellphones and all phone calls you make on the phone are done on speaker phone. Some of the staff are good but the nursing staff are not on a level they should be unfortunately This place really needs an overhaul because this stuff shouldn’t be happening. No one should feel like there recovery is in jeopardy when it’s supposed to be a safe place for all.

Checking into RCA Danvers by myself and for my first time in rehab was very stressful. Once I arrived in unit 6, I was welcomed with open arms into a very cohesive group of guys. Working with the staff, my peers and myself I have been able to grow spiritually, physically and mentally. RCA Danvers has given me the knowledge on how to work with my alcoholism, and they have shown me how to put that knowledge into action. I will need to continue with this the rest of my life, and I cannot thank everyone at RCA Danvers enough for helping me set myself up for success! I would recommend RCA Danvers for anyone struggling with addiction and alcoholism because of the way my time here has gone!
