Cambridge Eating Disorder Center is a private rehab located in Cambridge, MA. Cambridge Eating Disorder Center provides individuals suffering with eating disorders a comprehensive continuum of support services focused on their recovery. Their treatment programs focus on reducing eating disorder symptoms while promoting the development of a healthy
Eating disorder treatment was honestly the hardest thing I've ever had to endure in my life, but at the same time, CEDC is also one of the best things that ever happened to me. I have a lot to say about this place it's definitely not perfect, and I have some suggestions but overall, I'm so so grateful for everything this place has done for me. I was in CEDC's residential facility on the adolescent floor (ages 12-18) from October 2023 to January 2024, so some of this commentary might be outdated!First of all, the place was very clean and cozy. There were cleaners daily, and the whole place was generally very homey. I also adored the community there. The RC's (residential counselors) were all so sweet. I still think about them all the time. They were typically college-aged and so fun to talk to. None of them were ever unkind to me, and I instantly became friends with most of them. The other kids who were there at the same time as me were AMAZING. We have a huge group chat now, and still FaceTime and text to this day. We are planning a fun Thanksgiving reunion, and I can't want to see them. It was such a blessing and a privilege to be able to heal with these people. However, if everyone there is isolating/struggling and not ready to heal, that can also impact your recovery. I was lucky to be there with people who were motivated and friendly, which may not always be the case. The group room was also about as great as you can ask for. It's a common area for patients to hang out all day (at least, from 7 AM to 11 PM). There was a TV, couches, a big table with chairs, cards, board games, art projects and other crafts. I spent almost all of my time in the group room with the others, just because there was always something to do. There are also lots of blankets, and it's generally a very living room-esque area that I loved hanging out with the others in.I also loved the food. There's an extensive list of snacks to choose from, and if you ever want something else, you can request it on your menu, and the dietitians will purchase it for you! I did this whenever I was craving certain snacks from home that I loved. You can even ask for milkshakes/smoothies, and once you have permission to help prep your snacks, you can add any toppings you want! My friends and I would often order milkshakes on the same days so that we could decorate them in the kitchen together. You can also help prep your own meals sometimes on the weekends, and even cook/bake with Joan! Meals were always fun (though a bit lengthy), and the group typically chats and plays games (wavelength, 20 questions, etc). If you're not in the mood for that, the RC who is sitting in to monitor will put on some music and everyone can relax and eat. There was a range in the amount of kids on the adolescent floor, and for a while there was about 4-6 of us, though later on in my stay there ended up being about 7-8. I only had a roommate toward the end of my stay - for the majority of my time there, I had my own space, which was great. Here are my suggestions. First of all, I really wanted more time with my family. You had an hour-long visit each week, you could earn an extra hour or two per week by eating, and I also had an opportunity to call home each day during tech time. This may seem like a lot, but only being able to hug my parents once or twice a week was really rough and I felt very isolated. I also think that CEDC is all about healing your relationship with food, which is great, but since they don't "force" you to eat like at other treatment centers, it can allow patients to listen to their eating disorders a bit. In the end, it benefitted me because I made the journey on my own without it being shoved down my throat, which made it more impactful, but sometimes those who are very sick just need to eat. The reliance on self-accountability can allow patients to perpetuate those behaviors if they don't want to heal yet.FINAL NOTE: don't listen to all the horrible one-star reviews!! If you have extra questions, email me at marleym1@icloud.com and I'll share!

I have a lot to say about CEDC, most of which is positive, some of which is less so simply because of its nature and the fact that it is a treatment center. I spent 3 months on the adolescent floor at CEDC and was lucky enough to have a very supportive care team and community. I remember being incredibly nervous to start at CEDC, and reading these reviews honestly just made that anxiety worse- so for whoever is reading this, whether it s for yourself or someone you love, please take a deep breath because I promise that it s going to be okay.On a positive note, the meals work really well and there are lots of options to meet dietary needs, and the diet techs are some of the loveliest people that you will ever meet. The facilities are clean and the bathroom system works very well and offers as much privacy as can be hoped for. The Resident Counselors are extremely kind and go above and beyond in the ways that they care for and interact with patients. There is also an hour of guaranteed tech time for the adolescent floor (which might not seem like a lot, but is much more than other programs allow) The tutor is also such a genuinely kind soul and made the stress of doing schoolwork from afar so much lesser <3 There is also a weekly cooking and baking group and individualized exposure therapies which can be really helpful. On the more intricate side of things, The way that the program is run allows for patients to go back to their rooms during free times which resulted in some pretty invasive behaviors being used in many of the rooms post meals. There is also not a lot of access to the outside and so it s pretty common to go weeks without getting to go outside. The RCs are a lot younger than I anticipated (which says nothing about their abilities) but they did not always have knowledge specific to the treatment of eating disorders. Family therapy is not a large part of the treatment plan either, though there are family update sessions that happen weekly.About the program itself- There are 3-4 groups per day and 3 meals and 3 snacks daily. On the weekends therapeutic groups don t happen, but there are a few things to keep busy and the RCs try really hard to make it fun. Patients get 2 passes per week which are each 2 hours that can be used to see family, and you can receive letters and packages. Also note that they check any diaries that you bring and that lots of clothes that don't cover your arms or your legs will be confiscated. All in all the program is a really receptive and supportive one and it saved my life in so many ways. I can t say that treatment was easy, but it never is, and I am beyond grateful for all the people on my team and in my community who made my experience what it was.

Caring and competent medical professionals can be found at this community hospital. Unfortunately, staffing appears very short. On a Sunday morning, no one at front desk in lobby; 75-minute wait to see ER doc (not so bad); an additional 75 minutes for discharge papers. Cafeteria and gift shop were closed. Limited menu available in caf.

I got a mammogram and ultrasound at CHA Cambridge last week. I had gone to Mt Auburn Hoffman Breast Center several years prior and had such a horrible experience at Hoffman that I put off my follow up on an abnormal for years. They were mean/rude through the whole process, made me wait hours, did the mammogram wrong and said they wanted to start the whole process over again but make me wait a very long time in order to do that--it was such a traumatizing experience that I just left even though they said the results were abnormal. The process at CHA was painless and quick. There was no humiliation like I received at Hoffman and everything was super professional. They gave me the results while I was there and also mailed me the results with explanations of my good bill of health. The price was more affordable than what was quoted at Lahey and it looks like my insurance is covering it--but they assured me they have a payment plan option if there ends up being a bill when I called prior to the service.I was in and out within an hour and nothing about the experience was bad even though it's obviously not something I wanted to do. I will for sure stick to this clinic for this going forward. Really professional and a great team. Even admin new patient registration was a breeze. The gentleman was super polite and took care of that process for me within a couple minutes--no wait. He even said that he appreciated me when he was the one helping me. What a complete opposite experience from Mt Auburn Hoffman Center.

I struggled with drug addiction for 20 years. Could never break the cycle where I lived in Alabama 37 yrs of my life. I was out of options. My insurance found Paramount Recovery Centers in Massachusetts. I got ahold of them and they started the process to get me up here. They was a true blessing. Helped pay for my plane tickets and got me up here. I went thru 6 months of PHP program and then outpatient. Everyone from intake coordinators to councilors and all way up to program directors ALL helped me any way they possibly could. And thru this program I found hope again. I couldn t have done it without their help and am forever grateful for Paramount Recovery Centers. I stayed in their men s sober houses for 2 yrs now and am a manager at another one now. I highly recommend Paramount for anyone struggling with alcohol or drug addiction. Even mental health issues too. They are truly a leader in the recovery community here in Massachusetts.

My cousin has struggled with addiction for most of his adult life. He s been to countless rehabs, tried meditation and even hypnosis to get over his issues with substances. It wasn t until he joined Paramount Recovery Centers PHP that he actually began to embrace sobriety as his new norm. You see, what my cousin never had was a sense of community, and that is exactly what Paramount provided. It was clear from the moment I dropped him off with the clinical staff that he was going to be in good hands. Without Paramount my cousin may be in jail or even worse, deceased. We will always remember Paramount as the place that saved his life.

RCA is a great program! The catch is you have to want it for yourself! It works if you work it! You have to put in the effort and advocate for yourself you are with 29 other women who all have needs as well So I recommend finding out who your clinical team is day one and get in their chairs and make yourself known and make it known how bad you want the help! Things take time and in any program there is a high turnover especially when all patient s are there voluntarily but keep in mind miracles don t happen over night and things do take time so I would recommend doing there thirty day program followed by there PHP/IOP program so you are still acquainted with your clinical team and can build lasting relationships in recovery.

I was angry leaving my initial one star review because I felt lied to and deceived. I was told I d be lucky to make it back to this place meaning that I d be dead and not be able to make it back. I was told I would be dead cause of how horrible and defiant I was. I did not like AA was not for me so I was going to die. Many people that worked here told me. My case worker gossiped about me to a whole group of my peers saying one of you is going down a dark road really? These are the people to trust? These are the people getting me better. Also they said the bill would not need to be paid and I kept getting harassed by AP office I believe in Florida? So I was furious. So my initial review was one star and I left out words because I wrote a nasty review and had to erase them.I wanted to come back and edit my one star review to a five star. Cause here I am, over 5 years later, still going strong as ever in my recovery, and I have a place that is mine, I have a good steady job, and I m free of the chains of addiction. Whether I like it or not, my experience here is what lead me to where I am today. There was some amazing staff that was overworked and under paid so if by some grace of god they are still there, god bless. I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt and say they were trying reverse psychology on me, the staff talking crap about me to other peers, the staff saying I d be dead. But they were not that smart, they genuinely were telling me I was hopeless. I won t name you but I know that you know who you are.Now I sit here over 5 years later thinking that maybe if you did not spend so much time talking down and being hateful and judgmental to me, maybe all my brothers in program with me that are dead now, would still be alive if you paid them that energy. But it is what it is right? I don t equate my success to NEATC, hell no. I put my success on my shoulders. I easily could have taken yall saying I d be dead soon and actually gone and died. But I didn t. I spit in all your faces and I proved all of you wrong. I did it for me. I did it for my brothers who died due to the lack of care they received wether insurance was poor or you just focused more on me being defiant than their complacent obedience to your AA. What works for some does not work for all. It s your hate that drove the fight in me to succeed. I see my brothers in the program with me that never will get to share their smiles with the world, I can share the smile they taught me. I can share their message and I will not let them down. That s why I have 5 stars. This place did exactly what it needed to. Just like life, drove me insane, judged me, hate on me, gave me a place to live full of rats and mice, financial issues to battle, had to face death, had to hear pain like no other, and was not the smoothest ride. But through the pain and darkness of life there is always light, you can be that light. You can change. Amidst all the bad, there was a handful of AMAZING staff and people that gave me a real life experience I will never ever ever forget. Just like life this place is not perfect, we need to take the challenges and push on. I loved this place. And always will. This place did heal me. Not how I wanted but how I needed. Just like real life. I noticed my growth as I wanted to change my one star review. Even after all the trouble, I pushed through and fought and still see the light. I am still a light that will not be dimmed. And this place is a HUGE part of the reason I am who I am today. An amazing light in a dark dark world. This place put a challenge in front of me, life is not easy, you need to put in the work, and when life punches, you need to punch back harder.Thank you NEATC and the amazing staff I can t imagine would still be working here but if you are I love you. Forever I love you, and miss you, and wish you the best. I would love to come speak one day at an event, I don t live close by anymore but I d love to make something so please contact. Anyone wondering if they should come here, yes. Yes you should.

I was lucky enough to have found out about this facility in February of 2025. Words can not even describe how amazing the staff! My first night there was extremely hard for me and Petra was absolutely amazing ! I wanted to leave , I didn't feel good and she was able to calm me down and keep me there. My case worker Nicole was the best! I felt like she truly cared and wanted to help me get thru my time at the facility and she helped me set up outpatient care so that when I left Mayflower I was all set with good resources. This place was the beginning of redemption story and gave me a phenomenal foundation to start my recovery journey!

My first impression of Mayflower was an amazing. I felt so comfortable with the staff immediately, they made me feel so welcomed and supportive. The staff was unbelievably knowledgeable in addition. I felt safe and well taken care of. My room was first class with my own TV. The food was cooked by a chef and was unbelievable. I was most impressed with the Director of the program. He did a morning group everyday to address any concerns we may have and to impress how he was there to help the clients. Very professional and comfortable at the same time. 10 out of 10. The best in Massachusetts if not the North East.
