I came here in May for my first time in treatment and wasn’t sure what to expect. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed — the facility is immaculately clean, the rooms are very comfortable, and the food is genuinely amazing. Most importantly, the staff truly care about your health, safety, and overall well-being.
They gave me the support, treatment, and tools I needed to begin my journey to sobriety, and I’m grateful for everything they did for me. I honestly have nothing negative to say about this place.
If it weren’t a detox facility, I’d say I’d 100% come back — but I’m not planning to relapse just for the visit!

This is gonna be a lengthy review but hopefully it’ll be helpful to someone. I always read reviews of detox’s before I go to them (sounds horrible, I’ve only been to 3 lmao). Anyway, I’m always so anxious for the unknown and scared, so I read reviews, these one were mixed. This place is an amazing detox. I have wicked bad anxiety and I felt so comfortable here. I almost didn’t wanna leave. I only went for detox but the people I met in those 7 days are friends for life. The case workers such as Kim and Mark are amazing people. They work with you. If you act like an asshole you’ll probably have a tougher time. If you show respect you’ll be given respect. The rooms are like a 5 star hotel, showers huge, 2 tv’s for each roommate with private headphones. Like 5 tv’s in different spaces around the building if you don’t wanna isolate in your room. The food was freaking amazing, shout out to the hard working kitchen staff. If they had a restaurant I’d go lol. The detox groups are short and sweet but that’s because most people feel like shit. If it’s nice out, they take you outside to chill, walk, play basketball, cornhole, etc. oh and shoutout to Treasure who was always finding a fun activity for us. They also have an art therapy class which was super fun. As well as reiki and yoga being offered. No other detox I’ve been to has offered stuff like this. Yeah it sucks not having your phone but it’s a time to focus on you. You get to call your loved ones 3 days a week. You really can’t beat that. I’ve been to detox’s where you don’t get to make phone calls. If you isolate in your room here, yeah your gonna have a shitty experience. If you work the program, it’s a great detox. Thank you Haven for taking care of me during my stay there. Hope this review helps someone decide, seriously as someone who gets so nervous to go to new places, so glad I went here. ❤️

I came into this program as an older woman, scared and unsure of what to expect. This was my very first time in treatment, and after coming from an inpatient program where I honestly felt like I was treated more like an animal than a person, I didn’t know what I was walking into. From the first day, the staff and clients made me feel welcome and safe. I wasn’t seen as just a diagnosis here, I was seen as a human being. That meant everything to me. The groups were supportive, the staff truly cared, and I felt like my voice mattered. This program gave me hope and reminded me that healing is possible at any age. I’m grateful I came here and would recommend it to anyone who feels nervous about starting treatment.

I attended this IOP for dual diagnosis, and I can’t say enough good things. All the staff were incredible, from the director to the techs. The groups and therapists were supportive and truly helpful. I was there during a time when they were short-staffed, and they never missed a beat always making sure clients’ needs were met. Huge shoutout to Nick and Jodi, who really hold the place together and make it feel safe and welcoming. I’d recommend BHR to any family or friends struggling, this program truly makes a difference

I've been at Merrick Street for nearly a year, and my experince has been truly amazing. Spectrum staff members are caring, well-educated and passionate about helping each client on an individual basis. The level of care far exceeds that of other programs. I started my 'journey' at Sisters of Providence in Holyoke, and (apart from my clinician -- who was amazing!), it felt like conveyor-belt-style care. Now, that was a 2-hour round-trip commute every morning, but Information about Spectrum (20 minutes away) was hidden from me (despite my inquiries) for months because it was a separate organization and they likely didn't want to lose me as a paycheck -- I mean patient.
Spectrum is the total opposite. It has changed my life. I wasted years fearing a program, and the stigma attached. But I realized-- since I was already dealing with the stigma of having fibromyalgia and chronic pain, it made no difference, and I needed to try -- for me. Since entering, I have met so many incredible people, shared and heard many incredible stories, and in a way, I am proud to be part of something so positive.

They have many services and programs like intensive outpatient treatment, outpatient detoxification, dialectical behavioral therapy, Family Support Services, Parenting Groups, individual groups, family counseling, and dual diagnosis counseling. Just to name a few. Adcare Outpatient substance use treatment allows you to attend rehab programs while still attending to your daily responsibilities. They changed my life. Channing House, which is a Halfway House now operated by Advocates, is probably the most successful men's substance abuse house in Worcester County and probably one of the 5 best or most successful programs in Massachusetts. It is a fully accredited 6 month substance abuse residential program. However, they let me stay for 8 1/2 months because the staff agreed with me that I wasn't ready yet. I've been to well over 25 halfway houses and at least 15 different sober houses...and Channing House is by far the best and most successful program in Worcester County.

Since I started going here about 4 years ago I got a great therapist named Justin Mertz. We hit it off on day one and had a great professional relationship up to his untimely death. Hands down this program saved my child's life...... I could go on and on about all of the staff and how amazing they are very caring and professional ! I am an overbearing mom who needs to have the answers, I call.
10 times a day to check on my child.And never once did I ever feel like I was being pushed to the side because I can get annoying.... Which Is the best feeling ever because i'm trusting the care of my precious child To a bunch of strangers. *Update: It's now 2025 and there's has been a lot of changes at Worcester Arbour. New Director. My psychiatrist got an assistant, Nicole and she is amazing. Anytime I need anything she is on top of it. I'm with the same therapist and our relationship is getting more and more trusting. I encourage people to try this place out. Their partial hospitalization program is great for adults and adolescents. They are separate.
Update, it's now 2023 and theres a new director for a couple of years now.I have to be honest and say this place has gone downhill. They barely offer groups and most of them are on Zoom which in my opinion is so impersonal. I switched my pharmacy for the first time in over 10 years and they haven't updated my chart so my psychiatrist sent my meds to the wrong pharmacy. This might not sound like a big deal but I use medminder a mailing service and all my meds come prepackaged by dose so having to pick up certain meds in a bottle and put them in each little container for a month or two defeats the purpose of having them prepackaged for me. I'm not sure people understand the difficulties with making a program like this work. You have lots of mentally disabled people giving one star because they can't color the picture they want or couldn't speak with their med doc right this very second. Considering the constraints and low pay the clinicians go through to just try to help people, the added digital slaps aren't really necessary. I've had no issues and have had no complaints in dealing with Dan or the staff here.

I recently spent a week in the psychiatric ward because I was sectioned by my psychiatrist and I'm so thankful she did that. Not only did she save my life, but the staff and psychiatrist in the ward saved my life. All the staff were caring and did their absolute best to care for everyone as best they could. The other patients were incredibly awesome and I felt like I had others who related to what I was going through so I didn't feel alone during my stay. Group therapy was also particularly helpful and something that is absolutely amazing. I was well watched after and felt safe from harming myself. When I was finally discharged I felt like I had a refreshed outlook on my life and I felt like I received kind and adequate care. I honestly don't get why people treat these people like garbage when they're doing the best they can. I swear some people treat this place and other hospitals like a damn hotel and think they can be jerks to staff. The people giving one stars are full of bs.
