I’m currently in blue hills care and have been since may. I was very resistant in the beginning but they are the first PHP program to break down my stubborn walls and help me become open minded to recovering and choosing to improve my mental health for myself. I came into this program as an older woman, scared and unsure of what to expect. This was my very first time in treatment, and after coming from an inpatient program where I honestly felt like I was treated more like an animal than a person, I didn’t know what I was walking into. From the first day, the staff and clients made me feel welcome and safe. I wasn’t seen as just a diagnosis here, I was seen as a human being. That meant everything to me. The groups were supportive, the staff truly cared, and I felt like my voice mattered. This program gave me hope and reminded me that healing is possible at any age. I’m grateful I came here and would recommend it to anyone who feels nervous about starting treatment.

I've been at Merrick Street for nearly a year, and my experince has been truly amazing. Spectrum staff members are caring, well-educated and passionate about helping each client on an individual basis. The level of care far exceeds that of other programs. I started my 'journey' at Sisters of Providence in Holyoke, and (apart from my clinician -- who was amazing!), it felt like conveyor-belt-style care. Now, that was a 2-hour round-trip commute every morning, but Information about Spectrum (20 minutes away) was hidden from me (despite my inquiries) for months because it was a separate organization and they likely didn't want to lose me as a paycheck -- I mean patient.
Spectrum is the total opposite. It has changed my life. I wasted years fearing a program, and the stigma attached. But I realized-- since I was already dealing with the stigma of having fibromyalgia and chronic pain, it made no difference, and I needed to try -- for me. Since entering, I have met so many incredible people, shared and heard many incredible stories, and in a way, I am proud to be part of something so positive.

Channing House, which is a Halfway House now operated by Advocates, is probably the most successful men's substance abuse house in Worcester County and probably one of the 5 best or most successful programs in Massachusetts. It is a fully accredited 6 month substance abuse residential program. However, they let me stay for 8 1/2 months because the staff agreed with me that I wasn't ready yet. I've been to well over 25 halfway houses and at least 15 different sober houses...and Channing House is by far the best and most successful program in Worcester County.

Since I started going here about 4 years ago I got a great therapist named Justin Mertz. We hit it off on day one and had a great professional relationship up to his untimely death. I was assigned a new therapist named Lindsay Fox. Her and I hit it off great. Lindsay and I are working hard on my care just like I had with Justin. We do a 50/50 conversation. I love LAR. I went there following the covid lockdown once places started Opening up. I was in rough shape. They nursed me back to health. Mentally with groups and 1 on 1 therapy. Physical exercise with revive and the motivation to move a muscle and change a though. Spiritually with their holistic approach to healing. I learned to step out of my comfort zone there because there was no judgement. I learned peactices that I still utilize till this day. Meditation, yoga, reiki, acupuncture etc. And they have a boat. Doing a group on the boat was one of the most memorable moments in treatment for me. Recovery is a journey. And I'm grateful that Lake Ave Recovery has been a huge part of my journey.

Hands down this program saved my child's life...... I could go on and on about all of the staff and how amazing they are very caring and professional ! I am an overbearing mom who needs to have the answers, I call.
10 times a day to check on my child.And never once did I ever feel like I was being pushed to the side because I can get annoying.... Which Is the best feeling ever because i'm trusting the care of my precious child To a bunch of strangers. Some of the reviews on here could be pretty scary for a parent trying to find their child some help.But I'm telling you from one parent to another.If it wasn't for this program I don't know where my daughter would be or us as a family.Thank you so much MYR For everything you've done for us and saving my child's life! *Update: It's now 2025 and there's has been a lot of changes at Worcester Arbour. New Director. My psychiatrist got an assistant, Nicole and she is amazing. Anytime I need anything she is on top of it. I'm with the same therapist and our relationship is getting more and more trusting. I encourage people to try this place out. Their partial hospitalization program is great for adults and adolescents. They are separate.
Update, it's now 2023 and theres a new director for a couple of years now.I have to be honest and say this place has gone downhill. They barely offer groups and most of them are on Zoom which in my opinion is so impersonal. I switched my pharmacy for the first time in over 10 years and they haven't updated my chart so my psychiatrist sent my meds to the wrong pharmacy. This might not sound like a big deal but I use medminder a mailing service and all my meds come prepackaged by dose so having to pick up certain meds in a bottle and put them in each little container for a month or two defeats the purpose of having them prepackaged for me. If you're just looking for a therapist and not groups or a psychiatrist then you will probably be okay here but it you're like me and need more help than that you will be at a loss. My therapist is great so I won't leave but I thought they have declined enough update my review.

I'm not sure people understand the difficulties with making a program like this work. You have lots of mentally disabled people giving one star because they can't color the picture they want or couldn't speak with their med doc right this very second. Considering the constraints and low pay the clinicians go through to just try to help people, the added digital slaps aren't really necessary. I've had no issues and have had no complaints in dealing with Dan or the staff here.

Addiction treatment at it's best! Really great people, super helpful; love the IOP groups and the individual counseling - the counselors are all really great! They also offer Early Recovery support groups, days and evenings, and that is really helpful, to have that available around my work schedule! Overall, and excellent experience!
