About River Point Behavioral Health

Taking the first step to this ongoing journey is being able to accept that you need help and are open to allowing experts to help you move forward. It’s uncomfortable and understandable to be scared going into a facility and being unsure of what to expect. Medical detox at this facility will help bring you into stabilization and tend to medical concerns you may have been experiencing such as withdrawals and/or cravings among other symptoms that can be too dangerous to experience without medical supervision. The medical staff will monitor you around the clock and provide you with the appropriate care you need.

During inpatient treatment, topics such as reducing the chances of relapse, coping skills, and medication management will be part of your treatment. When seeking inpatient care, you will still have 24-hour medical supervision from the nurses and they will help you get acclimated with building structure and day to day routine.

They will introduce you to alternative routes for your healing journey so you have more ways to manage and deal with your emotions and stress without going back to unhealthy thinking and harmful behaviors. Medication management and education helps you get a thorough and deep understanding of the medication you may be prescribed to reduce misuse and ensure your safety.

Relapse prevention helps you become more knowledgeable and equipped for circumstances that can be out of your control so you know what to do. This helps you better understand the harmful impact of substance abuse and the threat it has on you as well as the life you build and your loved ones. Learning how to handle if or when you feel triggered and strengthening your recovery can also be some of the topics discussed.

Sincerely thankful for my experience with the Riverpoint Intensive Outpatient Program. Once the staff helped manage my expectations and understand the purpose behind the treatment, I was able to make sincere progress in my mental health journey. They helped me establish a foundation and develop healthy coping skills that I hope to build off and employ in my journey ahead. All staff were extremely caring and involved, from the front of the house staff to the therapists and medical personnel, all were invested in seeing healthy progress. Thank you to all that covers, you know who you are.

Spent 7 days of hell at River Point North Wing. The place needs to be shut down. Several health and safety violations, on top some of the most apathetic, rude “healthcare” workers I’ve encountered in my life. Went in for help and all I got was the feeling I was being treated like cattle for money. Spent 15 hours a day coupled up in a little room with 20 to 27 other people at a time. Our rooms are locked, and we are only let outside a few times a day. Little to no mental or addiction help and in fact they preyed upon people’s mental health and addiction problems. They preyed on the elderly as well because their Medicare we’ll continue to pay for the “treatment”. Kept individuals there way longer than they needed to be. Use them as long as the insurance will pay for them. This place needs to be investigated for serious human rights violations. The horror of see human, especially elderly people and people with severe mental illness being treated as comities, and the fear in they’re eyes know that they don’t know when they will be getting released, haunts me. I am not exaggerating when I say that River Point has giving me PTSD. The room we spent all day it was also the room we ate in and never once was it sanitized. A patient would come in after having their blood drawn and set down next to some food that had been setting out of hours. Several fire and safety codes had to have been broken. The dayroom where we would spend most of our time, which legal capacity could not have been anymore than 10 was filled up with people sometimes maxing over 28 people. We were only let outside a few times a day, which they will say was for stretches and exercises, but really a smoke break, only lasted for 10 minutes. Then it was back to the day room. Which sometimes we were forced to go into instead of the only other place we could go, which was two 50 yard long halls. It will be my mission to bring to light to the city and surrounding areas about the grotesque and inhuman treatment of the patients at River Point. These crude drawings are a glimpse of the “day room” that was always over crowded and where we spent 15 hours a day in

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

For me, this place had helped me with my depression as a military person, they will help you if you put on the work for coping mechanisms and all that, they are professional, they never yell so I don't know why there are comments of the staff yelling, I get treated for depression and now trying to learn about my psychotic features that I have, they haven't treated my psychotic symptoms as I no longer go there but they did help my depression.

If I could give this facility a negative 10, I would. My child was there 1 day and she was spoken to and treated in a demeaning manor. Her clothes and purse were stolen by the staff. When my husband went to pick them up he was told they "couldn't find them". When he called back and told them he'd be returning to pick up her inventoried purse and clothes they told him coming up there would be a waste of time which we can only assume is because someone on their staff had them in their possession. Unless you want to be verbally abused. Have your valuables stolen and receive the poorest care possible - stay away from this facility.

It is very upsetting when my fiance went there to volunteer himself in the Hospital to get assistance for himself and helps himself through this process and his sugar was so high that he literally had to go to Memorial and then somebody very rude at Riverpoint admitted their business to let him know that he didn't need to be there cuz it was voluntary and here we are waiting to try to get ahold of him I hope that we find them cuz they have now released him and we don't know where he is and when they were acting like they were helping him his sugar was over 600 they have been no help

Almost got assaulted by staff for sticking up for myself. They neglected the medical needs I had. They try to make cigarettes first half of the day 4-5 hours apart. And staff hit me on face with a damp towel for not get exiting the shower immediately after told to do so. Took my voluntary to involuntary with no rightful cause.
