year ago, I walked out of the doors of Northeast Florida State Hospital, and my life has never been the same since. When I first arrived, I was in one of the darkest places I’ve ever been in my life. I didn’t see much hope, and I didn’t know if I would ever feel better. But during my time there, something changed. Little by little, through the patience, care, and dedication of the staff, I began to heal. The staff there were absolutely incredible. They weren’t just “doing their jobs they were friendly, fair, and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, cared for, and respected. They created a warm and welcoming environment that felt safe, supportive, and encouraging. The events, the programs, and the way they connected with us made me feel at home, even though I knew it wasn’t my permanent home. They truly made it feel like a family, and that meant the world to me.Since leaving a year ago, my life has become better, stronger, and more powerful than ever before. The strength I found during my time at Northeast Florida State Hospital has carried me forward and helped me keep growing. I often think back to the staff, the experiences, and the kindness I was shown, and I can honestly say I miss them and everything they did to make us feel cared for. I want to say from the bottom of my heart: thank you. Thank you to Northeast Florida State Hospital and every single staff member who went above and beyond to make a difference in my life. You gave me hope when I had none, and you gave me the tools to keep moving forward. I will forever appreciate you all. Much love Jarrod

I was a client at the TH in September of 2017. I was there as a doc client. I was treated like a person. The counselor I has was AMAZING.She help me learn how to love myself again. The Transition House is a great great program! All the counselors and all the behavioral techs care about every single person that walks through the door! Every group is informative and gives you the tools to exceed quality sobriety! This program is not for people who need it, but for people who want it! One of the greatest things I have learned in this program,is I had to change myself and my old behaviors (not just the ones I wanted)...but all of them! I have been here for 5months and I am truly not the same person that walked in the door on December 31! The administration, staff and clients have helped to make the man I am today! Thank you Transition House! I can truly say I love Christopher Stewart!!!

Edited review done on 1/7/26*...If you have seen my previous reviews, then you know that this place has a history of having super long wait times, really bad Program Directors, and a lack of corporate support. However, If I can report the bad, then I can also report the good. We got a new director and she has been phenomenal, especially when she's compared to some of the prior PDs, and I have no complaints about her. She has stuck with her agenda and it's clear that it involves improving the client's experience on a day to day basis. The holidays were rough but since then they have hired more nurses who started after the first of the year, so the wait times are much shorter (they were over an hour and they're around 10-15 mins, now. The clinic has improved immensely but it still feels like it is overwhelmingly overcrowded for it's size, which makes it nearly impossible to get anyone to answer the phone when you call. However, I can live with those things a lot better than having to wait an hour every time I go. I would still recommend going to a different clinic, if it's at all possible, but for different reasons than I did in the past. Now, it's just because the clinic still seems overcrowded but pls don't hesitate to come here if you don't have a choice or if the choice is this place or getting high. As always, the nurses at the window are top notch human beings and they're some of the best around. I truly appreciate them and their patience. Good luck and God bless

This place has made a real turnaround, and I can honestly feel the difference. Having Security Officer Smith here means everything to me. He greets us every morning with respect, makes sure we understand the new rules, and creates a sense of safety I didn’t realize I needed. Ever since he started, the parking lot has been calm and problem-free. After being attacked last month, walking in here was scary for me… but knowing he’s there makes me feel protected again. In May- July 2024 my daughter received 12 weeks of intensive outpatient therapy three times a week at HCA Orange Park Behavioral Health. I must admit that I was skeptical at first as a retired RN and former patient at the Mayo Clinic until I personally met the staff. From the Receptionist, Tech, Therapist, and the Director Heather who all reassured me that they would all support and care for my precious daughter during her holistic healing journey. And they all did exactly that!!! She completed her group therapy with the tools she need in moving forward in hope in her quest for wellness and in wholeness!!! Heather a special applause to you for your honesty, empathy, support, concerns, compassion, understanding and professionalism during this challenging time!!! May God continue to bless you, your healing ministry at HCA, staff, and clients as you love, serve and care for God’s Children♥️🙏🎚️🦅🌹 In Much Honor, Gratitude and Prayer Dr. Jacqueline Johnson SoWeGa

3 of my kids go to their pediatric department. I would give this place 5 stars if it was only based on how warm, welcoming, and wonderful everyone is. All 3 kids see Jen and she is amazing. Miss Erica and Miss Jackie are wonderful case managers. Dr Lepely and his team are very nice. He has ensured my kids have everything they need, even when we have had to make adjustments he knew just what to do. Now for the negatives… The wait time to see the doctor is pretty extreme. They schedule everyone for one like.. 3-4 hour time slot. It’s first come first served and there are always 30+ people waiting. I know not everyone has time to wait like that and it confuses me why they do it. It has been especially hard with 2 adhd girls who are being seen for behavioral issues 😓 I am just lucky I have had the time to wait on days like those. Some times we are there for 30 minutes, other times we are there for hours. I tried to get in to see them, myself, and after months of not having a therapist or doctor, I just had to go find a new one(I dropped my providers to see theirs). I did meet with the case manager and we also spoke over the phone a few months later. I mentioned I hadn’t been assigned anyone yet and nothing changed so I moved on. All in all, the care here is positive. With some ironing out of their scheduling and staffing issues I think this facility would be a whole five stars.

La Cena is truly one of Jacksonville’s hidden gems. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that every detail is intentional and thoughtfully curated. The extensive menu and carefully selected wine list create an authentic fine dining experience that rivals many restaurants I’ve visited throughout Italy. One of the details that immediately stood out was the attention to proper service — cold appetizers and desserts were served on chilled plates, while hot dishes arrived perfectly heated on warm plates. It’s a small touch that reflects the level of care and professionalism throughout the entire dining experience. The baked clams oreganata are an absolute must-try. Perfectly prepared and full of flavor, they were the ideal start to the evening. I had the veal Piemontaise while my significant other enjoyed the grilled steak, and both dishes were absolutely delicious and expertly prepared. We finished the evening with the chocolate mousse and a slice of cheesecake. The cheesecake may look ordinary at first glance, but it is anything but ordinary — rich, balanced, and unforgettable. My significant other and I enjoyed a wonderfully romantic evening here. Unlike many restaurants today, La Cena maintains an atmosphere quiet enough to actually enjoy conversation without having to raise your voice. It’s elegant, intimate, and refreshingly adult-oriented. In fact, it’s one of the very few adult-only restaurants in Jacksonville, and honestly, I can’t think of another that offers this kind of experience. We learned that Chef Moran graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. He clearly brings both technical excellence and genuine passion to his craft. He not only prepares exquisite food, but also takes the time to pay attention to his guests and their experience. Having traveled extensively throughout Italy, I can honestly say Chef Moran succeeds in bringing a true taste of Italy to Jacksonville. La Cena is not just dinner — it’s an experience. We cannot wait to return for another wonderful meal.

I was just bragging about Lakeview and pointing a friend in this direction, and i was shocked to see even one negative review. Lakeview was amazing, it saved my life. It felt like a vacation, Its practically a health resort. It was so peaceful and serene. I felt I was cared about when cared for, I felt like they were actually invested in my recovery rather than feeling like a number. From the nurses to the blue-shirts, the therapists, the kitchen staff... everyone was so nice and supportive. The food was amazing, honestly. The pool was nice, gym was immaculate. Yoga instructors were awesome. We went for surfing lessons, went out to a horse farm to pet and feed some little horses. You have a massage therapist come in, and someone to come in for haircuts. Theres even a little zen meditation room. The lake on the men's side is full of life, little ducks and geese, big bass and turtles you can feed - although I don't think you're supposed to, anyways. The facility is nice, its got a real pretty view, good food, great staff. I cant imagine how they could go wrong. If I had to complain, the apartments, the PHP after the inpatient - the last period before you graduate... the apartments kind of sucked, but the comradery, the fellowship there.. it was a great place to transition back into the real world. And the girl at the window that took the cigarette and vape orders seemed like she was always having a bad day... but still. This place is amazing. I love Lakeview. I brag about my experience there. I highly recommend it.

I was a patient at Lakeview from October 20, 2002, to November 19, 2002. I was there during Lakeview's infancy, when there was only one building, a couple of picnic tables, a basketball hoop and a beat up volleyball net. I can tell you, with great conviction, their program works. Lakeview gave me the tools I needed to learn how to live a sober life. I still use those tools today, and I have been sober for just over 23 years now. I wish I could come down there and speak to the people currently residing there and tell them it's possible to turn theirs lives around. I am living proof of that, Thank you, Lakeview.

I didn’t always agree with how everything was run, but overall the program was truly worthwhile and helped me tremendously. The therapists were exceptional, and I credit them—along with other staff members—for my engagement and my desire to fully commit to and benefit from my time there. The programming was a major strength, especially the medical sessions led by doctors and nurses, as well as the psychotherapy sessions led by trained therapists. These were pivotal to my success. They also offer nightly 12‑step meetings, typically hosted by outside groups such as AA and NA, which added meaningful support. The living arrangements exceeded my expectations. The dorm room was comfortable (the beds were genuinely great), the food was very good with a wide variety of options every day, and there was a healthy balance of structured programming and downtime for reading, homework, movies, and rest. One thing that particularly impressed me was their weekly Town Hall, where patients can openly raise concerns, complaints, suggestions, and compliments directly with leadership, including the CEO, Clinical Director, Nursing, Maintenance, and BHTs. While the facility is clearly short‑staffed, I never once felt unsafe or discouraged from voicing my concerns. Some of the rules could be frustrating, but they are clearly in place for patient safety. I am 44 days sober today. When I arrived, I was angry at the world, ready to leave AMA, and intent on drinking myself to death. I left with a powerful desire to live and to continue doing the next right thing to stay grounded in my recovery. Stepping Stone—especially my individual therapist and the classes—saved my life. I will be forever grateful.

I often joke with my husband, if New Season sold a t-shirt I would wear it. I came here to say the same thing I happily see many other people have said. "This place saved my life!" Not just myself, but my spouse as well. I used to be homeless. I used to be a junkie. I have been so many different things in my life, however, I am no longer either of those. When I came into new season for the very first time I was alone, sweating, shaking, and so so sick. I had missed the intake hours by about 20 mins and I remember feeling so defeated knowing I missed it and would have to go use again to feel better. Tears started streaming my face and the director saw me, introduced himself and personally saw to it that I was able to do my intake and get the medication I needed right away. From then on I met so many wonderful people who have worked under the roof of new seasons Jax, formerly metro Jax for those of us who have been around a while. I can promise you that if you are stuck in that same cycle of out of control addiction and do not know what to do, just give them a call and ask some questions. Work this program the way it is intended and you can get your life back. Going to new season was the best choice I ever made. I am in a place I thought not possible. Thank you New Season. I would also like to put on here, just for the feedback of new season, the old director Shawn/Sean is a very special person and we all miss him dearly, we wish him the best. Personally, myself, I wish I could thank him with his work regarding grant funding, this has helped so many of us after the cut of the healthcare credits last year. Lindsey Gainey will also be greatly missed and was a gift from the lord, this woman helped me at some of my very lowest points. Special shout out to my current counsoler Beth, who is wonderful! I could not ask for a better counsoler and would be devastated if I ever lost her. Ashley Brown, one of the finance officers is always there to answer my questions and ease my mind when it comes to insurance or dosing payment questions, she's amazing. Last but certainly not least, a special thanks to Kenya, who is so hardworking, caring, and pious. They all deserve a huge round of applause and frankly a raise. While I'm at it I will give praise to the nurses in the dosing windows who are the true unsung heroes when I show up 30mins before close to pick up 13 take homes, I am eternally grateful.

Sandora Howard is the most amazing person I ever met there, she actually cares about people. She goes above and beyond to make sure you get what you need to be successful. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't stay on track. She showed me so much love which is important. I owe her my life. So I just want to say THANK YOU SANDORA HOWARD FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.

I am so grateful for Gateway, and the amazing staff there. From the staff at detox, to residential llrehab, down to the front desk & providers for out-patient, they are all an amazing part of my recovery. I started my journey almost 5 years ago at Gateway detox and if it wasn't for programs like what Gateway offers, I wouldn't be here today to speak about it. I will forever be grateful for what this facility has done for me, and taught me. I credit a lot of my sobriety to Gateway, for teaching me the skills I needed to lead and maintain a healthy, sober, productive lifestyle and how to love myself. One day at a time, sometimes one hour, one minute, one second. If you are struggling with addiction and do not know where to turn, by all means call Gateway. I couldn't provide a better alternative.. Gateway is where it's at. Detox will make sure you're comfortable during detox by using a MAT treatment plan that you and the doctor have discussed in depth and determined the right plan for you. Once you're released they continuously provide you the support you need. Do yourself a favor and call today, what's holding you back ?

I stayed at Wekiva Springs during a rough transition around 2013 and I was met with open arms. One of the techs happened to be a girl I knew from AA which Put me at ease. Edit: I ended up back for a different reason and I have more now to say and would honestly increase my star rating if I could. I personally am writing this after leaving recently. The professionalism was maintained by the entire staff under the duration of my visit. Which while wasnt where I needed to be fell onto me for a lack of appropriate paperwork. And while I witnessed this staff not crack or break during what I would consider was an extremely stressful couple of days for all of them, (the jobs difficult let’s be honest) not only was everything handled so ever appropriately I would say some staff went above and beyond to ensure all patient needs and concerns were met. If I were ever in a position where myself or a loved one would need to be entrusted under the care of someone seeking help, I would say yes to them. And if I can remember some names I would say Felicia, Alexis, Jada, Richard, Austin, the Clinical Director, Christina, there were too many names so I apologize but from the Past two days please if anyone sees this, they all Deserve any level of recognition from the professionalism under the circumstances they were adapting to around the clock. Even the Physicians professionalism and understanding and urgency. Now I will not be coming back maybe for some outpatient family therapy or whatever “NAMI” is. The place continues to improve yet somehow has a bad rap. Past post: I came here voluntarily because I drank a lot fully triggering some heavy anxiety. Upon coming to and waking up I was in a lovely unit I think 600? With a taper in my system I was seen by a medical doctor and psychiatrist in a timely manner and given some new appropriate medications to help with alcohol cravings and an ssri. I thoroughly did enjoy my stay and the staff was wonderful from day to night shift. All the people were kind to me and the other patients and extremely helpful. There were plenty of activities planned in a timely manner throughout the day and the staff also keeps you informed of who called for you. If necessary I’d recommend this place as for me I won’t be going back and moving forward with a new perspective. Thank you to everyone in my unit 600 stay that helped me and answered my questions.

Beyond grateful for my two visits here at FRC. I am now coming up just shy of two years sober. I did my two stints at the old facility. The staff is extremely welcoming, the programming is great, and both times met great friends I am still in contact with today. Making the call to get a ride back to FRC after a month long binge, withdrawing in a fetal position on my floor, was the best choice I have made. From spiraling out of control and loosing it all, to building up a new prestigious career, brand new life, and most importantly, my peace of mind. I needed a break. A vacation from the lifestyle I was living. A trip back to reality. I couldn’t bear to live one more hour. FRC gave me it all. Get the hardest part over with. Make the call, you wont regret it.

I can't recommend FRC enough. This organization has truly been a life-changer and life-saver for me. My journey with FRC began in 2007 when I was a patient receiving care. I was at the lowest point in my life after years of substance use and a near fatal suicide attempt. Under the care of Dr. Teitelbaum, The support I found there was instrumental in introducing me to recovery, and I am incredibly grateful for the nearly 18 years of sobriety I have today because of that start. To come full circle and later spend over 12 years working on the incredible FRC Team has given me a unique perspective. I will forever be grateful for having the opportunity to witness firsthand the profound, life-changing work that happens there every single day. My appreciation for FRC, its mission, and its dedicated staff is immense. Unfortunately, I am starting a new job in another city to be closer to my family, but I will always carry FRC with me. If you or a loved one is seeking help, you are in the best possible hands.

"It works, if you work it, so work it, you're worth it!" I came to the Florida Recovery Center a broken man, suicidal, no self-confidence, and a great lack of a sense of purpose and worth. Through intensive individual therapy, group therapy, recreation therapy, in-depth 12 Step assignments and application, CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), a multitude of informative and illuminating lectures (medical, recreational, spiritual, relational), and a greatly supportive community of people all working on the same goal of sobriety and sanity, I have been able to begin my life anew. I am now 90 days sober for the first time in 30 years thanks to FRC (Florida Recovery Center)!!!! I would not be alive to write this review had they not believed in me and, likewise, I had not believed and trusted the process. YOU must surrender to the process, be vulnerable, and be willing to choose LIFE for yourself - a good life without dragging around the heavy burdens of guilt, shame, and regret.....BUT YOU have to be honest with yourself and them or it probably won't work. IT WORKS IF YOU WORK IT SO WORK IT YOU'RE WORTH IT!!!!
