The have created a healthy environment for recovery. I Highly recommend this program to anyone ready to make a change for themselves or a loved one. You will not be disappointed. Sober Living America changed everything for me. When I arrived, I was a shell of the person I used to be—exhausted, broken, and drowning in addiction. I had burned bridges, lost trust, and couldn’t see a future beyond the next fix. I didn’t walk through those doors with hope. I walked in with desperation. But they saw something in me I couldn’t see in myself. From day one, the staff treated me not like a problem to be solved, but like a person worth saving. They didn’t just offer me a bed—they offered me dignity. Structure. Accountability. A community that didn’t flinch at my past, but stood beside me as I built a future. I learned how to show up for myself. How to work again. How to forgive. How to breathe without guilt. They helped me find a job, taught me life skills, and gave me the emotional support I didn’t even know I needed. I cried more in those first few weeks than I had in years—not from pain, but from the overwhelming realization that I was finally safe. Today, I wake up clean. I wake up proud. I wake up with purpose. Sober Living America didn’t just help me get sober—they helped me remember who I am. And for that, I’ll be forever grateful.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.

12-step icon12-Step

12 step programs support recovery through emotional, psychological, and spiritual development to address the root causes of addiction. These programs are peer directed, with participants regularly attending 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, and accessible day and night, year-round. Recovery is based on "working the steps" to understand the source of addiction, take accountability for one's life choices, and relinquish control for that which cannot be changed. Age-specific, gender-separate, and other specialized programs are widely available.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

The first step of the recovery process involves the removal of all drugs and alcohol from your system while under 24/7 medical supervision. Known as a medically assisted detox, you are closely monitored by medical staff who can provide medications, if necessary, to help alleviate any potential withdrawal symptoms. Medical detox is usually followed by a period of inpatient addiction treatment.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

I am an addict alcoholic... I came to sober living America in Jacksonville to get sober and stay sober... This facility is very nice... Is it 12 step affiliated, the director guest services are very pleasant. They take you to 12-step meetings, have a curriculum, and a network with multiple sources to get you a job, and on your feet and allow you to get a sponsor works the steps and hopefully back into a position to become a positive member of the society. You don't have to have a job when you come here they will get me one. As far as me, I am disabled they took me in anyway you must have disability or some form of income... Five stars all day long as far as I'm concerned.

When I walked into Sober Living America, I had nothing—no direction, no support, and no hope. I was broken, lost in addiction, and unsure if I’d ever find a way out. But from the very first day, this program welcomed me with open arms and gave me something I hadn't felt in a long time: a chance. Sober Living America didn’t just help me get clean—they helped me rebuild my life. The structure, accountability, and sense of community here were exactly what I needed. I was surrounded by people who understood my struggle and genuinely cared about my recovery. Through their guidance, I learned how to live again—how to take responsibility, how to work hard, and most importantly, how to love myself again. They helped me find a job, offered life skills training, and provided the emotional and spiritual support I desperately needed. They didn’t just offer me a place to stay—they gave me purpose, direction, and the tools to create a new life. Thanks to Sober Living America, I now wake up every day with hope. I am clean, working, and building a future I never thought was possible. I will always be grateful for the second chance they gave me when I had nothing. If you or someone you love is struggling, this place can be the turning point. It was for me.

Embarking on the journey to sobriety is daunting—change is scary, especially when it involves reinventing your life. That’s why I’m incredibly grateful for Sober Living America (SLA) in Jacksonville, Florida. They offered me a genuine chance to rebuild my life, instilling not just confidence but also the essential life skills needed to start over. At SLA, you're treated with genuine respect and dignity. But let me be clear—this isn’t a walk in the park. Sobriety is hard work, and SLA expects you to invest effort into every aspect of your recovery. Sober Living America is a great program that has honestly help me to rebuild a good life! A life that I never even could have imagined! As soon as I came in the program I was welcomed and loved on even though I never really even knew how to love myself. They loved on me until I learned. John Ivey, Kevin Rybak, Ken Woods, Tim Lewis, Josh Lataille, Dane, Thomas Wheeler, James Jum I have to Thank each of you for believing in me and showing me that this is possible! They allowed me to grow in sobriety by letting me experience what it’s like to be a guest in the program and then taught me how to be a great staff member and helped me to grow and become a man that now has a life and I’m married have my own job and working on my own place my own. If I had not met any of these men I truly don’t know if I would even be alive. They allowed God to work through them and SLA truly has staff that cares and wants you to succeed. I thought I had lost everything but because of SLA and their staff I was able to gain so much more and I never thought I’d have what I have today. Thank you. Guys for everything you do for me and everything that you continue to do for anyone that is in the program. God uses you guys as vessels to breathe hope and life into individuals such as myself. Thank you!

I would strongly advise against considering this sober living house. What they promise when you call is completely different from what you experience once you're there. Despite claiming to be non-denominational, the house is extremely Christian-based, to the point where they insist that you don’t need medication for any mental health or medical issues—just "faith in God." The director, Thomas, has a troubling sense of self-importance, often speaking as though he believes he is the reincarnation of Jesus. One of the most grueling aspects of the program is the mandatory 3-hour daily meeting led by Thomas, where he spends the entire time talking about God, leaving little room for actual discussion or support relevant to addiction recovery. The facility also does not conduct any sort of searches or drug testing for new arrivals, which raises serious concerns about safety and accountability. Additionally, they employ manipulative tactics like self-blame and isolation to try to break down individuals. You are often told that you’re only there because you have nowhere else to go and no insurance, which leaves you feeling trapped and vulnerable. This place feels more like a money-driven, cult-like environment than a supportive space for recovery. It is not an effective or ethical place for anyone seeking real help. Furthermore, they require residents to post fake 5-star reviews to make the place look better than it is. Please do not send yourself or a loved one to this place. It is not a safe or healthy environment for anyone trying to stay sober.
