I called yesterday to get some information and Chris answered the phone. I didn’t feel rushed, I could tell he cared and I could tell he loved his job. After many phone calls with other companies in the past that made me dread calling any recovery center I just wanted to say I am truly thankful for Chris and this company is lucky to have him! Chris, I hope you see this and I hope anyone who gets the chance praises Chris on being amazing at his job!

Where do I even start? I was a client at Twin Lakes in Oct/Nov of 2022 and I can say with my whole heart that it saved my life. Not only did they give me the tools on how to maintain sobriety, but they also showed me community and connection. And now, a little over two years later, I am still sober and blessed with the opportunity to work at the same facility that helped save my life. The program showed me a new way of life and for that I will be forever grateful.

Accepted Insurance

Twin Lakes Recovery Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Twin Lakes Recovery Center offers Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) services at our outpatient treatment center located in Gainesville. Their outpatient services are designed for individuals 18 and older who have a substance use disorder and may also have co-occurring behavioral health issues.

inpatient iconInpatient

Their inpatient residential treatment services allow those suffering from substance use and co-occurring disorders to focus on learning to live life without alcohol or other drugs and to develop the tools needed to navigate life without them. Living on-site at Twin Lakes allows residents to focus on recovery, free from distractions. Residential treatment allows clients to unplug from their usual routines (which are most often unhealthy) and fully engage in the treatment experience with the support of 24/7 clinical staff.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

aftercare iconAftercare Support

At Twin Lakes Recovery Center, they help clients build a solid foundation for lasting recovery. Recovery from drugs or alcohol is a lifelong process. Their goal is to provide the tools necessary to navigate the challenging journey of recovery. Their commitment to their clients in this process does not end when treatment ends, they offer continuing care services to all clients. Continuing care also includes access to Twin Lakes aftercare services. This includes consistent check-in calls from their clinical team throughout the first year following treatment. They want to stay connected, hear about continued growth, and help with challenges that may arise. Clients are also invited to participate in Twin Lakes alumni groups and gatherings. These provide incredible opportunities for fun, fellowship, and support in recovery.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Equine therapy, aka equine-assisted therapy (EAT), is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions and activities with horses. It does not necessarily involve riding horses, but all activities related to horses, such as feeding, grooming, haltering and leading them. A mental health professional frequently oversees the activities (often in conjunction with a horse professional), and helps patients process their thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns during and/or after the interaction.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Addiction is a family illness. When a family member engages in substance abuse, the entire family or support system is thrown into dysfunction. Addicts clearly suffer from the disease, and there are many loved ones who also suffer from the consequences of addiction. At Twin Lakes Recovery Center, they know that family education, support, and involvement in the treatment process leads to better outcomes for our clients. The Family Recovery Program is a 2 day program, held at their residential facility in Monroe, in which loved ones of clients join other families and receive education about the disease of addiction and co-occurring behavioral health disorders.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

My husband went to Twin Lakes in one of his darkest moments. After years of recovery he experienced a relapse, worse than ever before. He actually OD the night before we took him. To say he got exceptional care is an understatement. They were so hands on with him and made sure his withdrawal was medically supervised and comfortable. They accommodated a dental emergency he had while on his care and allowed him to see a dentist. On my end I received weekly updates from his therapist on how he was doing and was able to send him mail and talk on the phone regularly. After he completed the program I was very impressed with their Alumni coordinator who reached out often and kept up with his progress. My husband now has over two years of continuous recovery and we live a full and happy life. I cannot thank this program enough for giving me my husband back.

My name is Lloyd. I went through Twin Lakes twice. The first time I went through not because of the recovery I wanted to learn the business because I did the same thing similar, but I was still addict and at that time once I was released nothing changed. The same old song was playing... Nothing from nothing leaves nothing. So to make a long story short, after getting my ass cut off not literally or in other words...My Ass tow up from the floor up, I made the decision to surrender. Now I will have 1 year clean, 365 days in a row on August 3, 2025 and when I say I'm truly GRATEFUL it's not a cliche to me, it's 💯, and like now tears are running down my face. It's because of Twin Lakes and that wonderful staff Especially Park that I'm not dead, happy and at peace. I thank my God everyday for every moment weather bad or good. This is TRULY PRICELESS.! Love you guys By the way Twin Lakes invited me down to speak on August 8th in the meeting! What a privilege 😄

When I first came to Twin Lakes, I thought I had hit rock bottom. But I quickly learned that in recovery, rock bottom can happen more than once—and each time can feel worse than the last. No matter how many times I stumbled or fell off the wagon, Twin Lakes and their incredible staff were always there to help me back up. I went through treatment at Twin Lakes four times, each time determined to start over and get it right. Not once did I feel like I was in the wrong place or with the wrong people. Every time I returned, the staff went above and beyond to make sure I had the care, support, and resources I needed—not just during treatment, but also in the critical steps afterward. I've been to other treatment centers, but little by little, with time, patience, and the unwavering support of the amazing therapists and addiction counselors at Twin Lakes, this place became the turning point in my journey. Twin Lakes was the last rehab I ever needed. I owe them my life, and I’m proud to call them family.

I have been sending clients here for the past few years and the only reason I continue to do so is the response from those very clients. Most of the negative reviews are a result of that client's behavior and their inability to have the humility to accept help. This is not a vacation so if you want help with excellent clinicians in a wonderful setting then Twin Lakes is one of the places I recommend.

Twin Lakes saved my life. I was so lost & miserable. I didn't know how to quit using or drinking. I dreaded the withdrawals and DTs so I had accepted I would die that way. When I finally surrendered my wife found this little treasure of a getaway. They managed my withdrawels from the opiods to a minimum. I wasn't sick & throwing up or miserable through my stay there. They weened me off medically. Karen was the best NP I've ever worked with & I'm truly grateful for her & her process. Chris was my counselor & I learned from each & every group & one on one session we had. The food was amazing & I had all the milk I wanted to drink. The atmosphere was supportive amongst my peers. I made life long friends in there & wouldnt trade the life we have today for anything. The techs are personable & each have a way of connecting with you & making you feel like family. They have the best techs of anywhere I've ever experienced. This is not a state facility. They invest in your recovery. You have to want it. Athena keeps us in touch with each other & is a motivated supporter of our progress once we've graduated. Alumni events are great. Plus! I could fish while I was there & we get to go back & visit & fish when we can. I caught some monster Large Mouth Bass & some really good sized Croppie. Mr. Park leads a veterans group 2 times a week that helped me more than any of it. He really cares about his fellow vets. Then on Friday night there is a PTSD Recovery zoom meeting for vets as well. Nursing staff is great & very considerate of your well being. They kept my blood pressure in good standing while I came off everything. 5 stars. Go to all the groups, listen, & take suggestions & this recovery center will renew your life. Thank you Twin Lakes & staff.
