Accepted Insurance

Via Christi Hospitals works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Would not go back to this place for any reason. While some of the staff was excellent and provided top notch care overall the majority of them have bad attitudes. I am an extremely obese male and I know it is hard to take care of me, but that is no excuse for the treatment I endured. One night during my stay my IV beeped for four hours and my nurse ignored it, which means I wasted a night in the hospital to receive ZERO therapy. Kudos to the good people I met there, not sure how you can work at such a bad facility.

As the creator this place was terrifying. I had cameras in the bedrooms to where you couldn't even have privacy. There was no mental health assessment performed. I. Felt as though my voice was not being heard due to their ability to shut me down and get me compliant. This is not. Mental health this is sick! Although this was done an effort to prevent. Me from becoming who I am.This place needs to be shut down

*updated 6/4/25* After giving this rating new information came to light. One of my only requests for my c section was delayed cord clamping. I heard Scrafford relay this to the nurses and team TWICE during my operation. My husband heard me say we had delayed cord clamping and he said “you mean cutting right” I said no, clamping. He then showed me a photo that immediately clamped my son’s cord WITH MY PLACENTA STILL ATTACHED and left it clamped with a timer for FOUR minutes. Then they sent him to NICU for low oxygen (no shit you suffocated him) this hospital had performed malpractice 3 times, I’m pursuing legal action. Scrafford needs to find a competent hospital to work for because the nurse staff is horrible all around minus the ones mentioned. Do not deliver here. Scrafford please please find somewhere better. Second birth, scheduled c section. Dr Scrafford was my OBGYN, he did great. Had a traumatic emergency c section after 33 hours of labor. 5 tries for 2 IVs and 6 attempts at an epidural left me scared for this scheduled c section but everything went much better. I let staff know my fears and they did what they could to help. My favorite nurses were Peggy, Mesha, Kippy. Due to gestational hypertension my son was 37 weeks and 2 days old, unfortunately needed to go to NICU for breathing. Took 6 days to take him home. Enjoyed all the NICU staff/doctors. I feel my son was safe. What kept this from 5 stars was the fact of the nurses who don’t listen to the patient/mothers. They used the wrong blood pressure cuff on me AGAIN though I told them several times it was the wrong size (same experience first time) I finally had to MAKE THEM go get a different one and it’s like their brain broke. Had a sketchy experience with the rhogam shot. Make sure they fit the IV. Chicken strips and salads are bomb from cafeteria. The main reason I pick St Joe is for Scrafford. The good nurses were so good they saved it from a lesser review. Some people simply shouldn’t be in the field and need let go and replaced with nurses who can think critically and provide sympathetic patient care. NICU was great but constantly felt I had to “prove myself” with the choices I make, such as which formula I chose to supplement with, they had to “approve it”… I should be able to provide whatever I want for my baby. It was far greater quality than similac and enfamil. Same with choosing oral vitamin K. They had to wait for approval. Ridiculous. It’s MY baby. I know some people know nothing, but that should be evident when they don’t provide alternatives, not when they do. Overall, I would have my next scheduled c section here, but only because I know how to advocate for myself and baby, the good nurses and Dr Scrafford is phenomenal. Same with Scott in anesthesia.

I went in for just an MRI. Staff was very attentive and efficient, and made certain I was as comfortable as possible. They answered all my questions. (Be sure to question any concerns you may have about the procedure. It helps to know what to expect, and what is required of you.) I was glad I did the online registration a few days before my appointment to save time. I ran about ten minutes late in my arrival time, which threw their schedule off a bit, but I was still in and out with very little wait time. I was very satisfied!

We had the most spectacular care from Labor and Delivery to postpartum. There was never a time we felt uncared for, the constant attention and great care was amazing! We felt like from start to finish there was no stone unturned and every base was covered by the doctors and nurses. I felt like I could ask for anything or ask any question and it would never be a bother. Also, we commuted four hours just to receive obstetric care from Dr. Voth and these great teams. We knew we would receive this type of care, just like our prior pregnancy and we were not disappointed! Words can not express how happy we are with the care and services we were providing during this stay!

The main thing that I can say about this hospital was the room that I was in in the fifth floor. The room was painted white. Just white. It was very bland. I felt like I was back in a barracks room from my time in the service. Nurse care was great, minus one that appeared to be burnt out.

Was supposed to check in at 6:30 am. I was there at 6:15 am I had gone the previous week for preadmission and lab work . Waited for another hour. Finally about 8:00 Someone came to finish admission process. After that was completed, things moved. Nurses were great and caring and professional. I came home same day.
