About White Deer Run of Lehigh

Their services are provided to ensure each person receives the most out of treatment. They use different types of therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, rational emotive behavior therapy, and more. Their expected length of stay averages between 21-25 days.

If you’re interested in medication services, you’ll have access to a psychiatrist. This program also offers medication assisted treatment in which they administer Naltrexone and Vivitrol. You will engage in individual and group therapies. They also follow the 12 Step method. Each group therapy session can cover topics such as team building, recovery lecture, psychoeducation, peer evaluation, and outdoor therapy.

One thing that I like about this program is that they offer continued care services as you complete the inpatient program. You’re set up with a discharge planner to ensure appropriate connection to services post discharge. You’ll complete a comprehensive plan that identifies your needs and referrals will be made to community services. This’ll help promote lifelong recovery.

You sincerely could not pay me to go to this place again. Buckle in, this is a long review, but heed my warnings. —They refuse subutex until you’ve been there for 48 hours. They spoke to me as if I was stupid. Was told they’ve “actually had people still go into precip even after 48 hours, would you rather have a seizure and die because we gave it to you too early?” (Um…? Since when would that happen…??) —When I picked up my belongings, they claimed that they couldn’t find any of my medication I had brought with me, that it was not written on my belongings list, and eventually straight up said I was mistaken and I didn’t come with any medication. When I opened up my bag of belongings, my 2 medications were in one of their company branded bags that looks like a pharmacy bag sitting right on top of all of my stuff. How are you a REHAB but lose track of medication! —There was one single occupancy bathroom in the detox quarters and none in the individual rooms so god forbid you got sick. —It may sound ridiculous to worry about this but there are no tv’s at all in the bedrooms (and obviously you have no access to your cellphone) which would help you to keep your mind off of being severely ill so every minute genuinely feels like a lifetime. I just looked and there are several brand new 32 inch tv’s for $70 online so you can’t tell me that they can’t afford that. Not even books are technically allowed that aren’t recovery focused. Politics book? Passion/interest/hobby book? Nope. —Within my first 2 hours there, the one nurse started a fight and started yelling and cursing at their coworker right in front of me. —When I wanted to AMA, they said they would not allow me to use their landline to contact someone for me to be picked up, nor would they allow me to use their WiFi once I got my cellphone back, since I had no service and knew my phone was at 5% with no charger on top of it. This place is in the middle of nowhere and it feels to me like they only have those policies to attempt to discourage you from leaving and from them losing out on your insurance money. Seems infinitely more dangerous than “helpful” to refuse this courtesy. Was told in a snarky tone “well that’s something to think about if you plan on leaving, isn’t it?” when I brought this up. They told me it was my disease speaking, the fact that I wanted to “run away” from facing my problems which is not true at all. I completed another detox and 30 day program no problem at all when I went somewhere that wasn’t awful like this place was. Suffering through detox does not magically mean you will be more likely to stay sober. —I’m a size medium pants and the only pants they had to give me to switch into until they went through my stuff and gave to me several hours later, had to of been at least a size 2XL. I likely could have fit an entire other body my same size into the empty space left after pulling the waist band strings as tightly as possible. No brief, basic apology was even attempted regarding this. —Groups go from roughly 8am to 9pm and you are required to attend each and every one. —The rules state that you are not allowed to to “comfort or offer a tissue” to someone in group who may be starting to break down because it’ll “interrupt their process” —You share your detox room with someone else so again, god forbid you or the other person is violently ill or restless like it’s assumed you will be while detoxing. —The beds were essentially prison cots. —No ability to roam around or smoke a cigarette between 10:30pm and 6:45 am when you’re restless. —You have a choice of like 5 items for breakfast but aren’t allowed both hot food and cereal because god forbid. You’d think this place doesn’t get highly subsidized by the state with how stingy they are about everything there. It was just a horrible experience. I’d highly recommend just going to a hospital for detox and then only going here afterwards if you need a program. I would straight up not trust this facility with your detox.

Not a place for a nuerodivergent person of any kind. Staff ignored pleas of worsening mental health and to get anything done case wise had to speak to various people of unknown positions because the left hand was unaware of the right. Came clean about disordered eating but was brushed off while they also claim to be "dual diagnosis". Was ostracized from the community regarding hygiene concerns but staff ignored pleas to use the washing machine and dryer. They have clothing donations but apparently no access to them. This makes attempts at staying clean in that sense untenable. Some staff were very kind but often you get treated as paperwork instead of human. Staff would use preferred names like the wind changes directions. I was misgenedered so often I just gave up bringing it up. They're training on sexuality and gender identity is so old they list "transgender" as a sexuality instead of a a way a person experiences their gender identity. My dead name was outed in front of other clients who knew me entirely from my preferred name. Staff knew of the interpersonal conflicts but allowed the community to police itself. Another commenter had said that the clients run the show whish is quite true. Do not attend this facility if you are nuero or gender diverse. No protections nor considerations will be given to you as a protected class. Come here. Get clean, leave. All you are dollar signs to them.

Accepted Insurance

White Deer Run of Lehigh works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs specialize in providing comprehensive care for clients who choose to remain in their homes and communities during treatment. Their services may include transitional support for clients stepping down from intensive inpatient programming. Ambulatory medical detox may be provided for clients at low risk for withdrawal complications. Many programs include evening, night, and weekend services to accommodate clients who are working professionals or caregivers. Addiction counseling and life skills training are common treatment modalities.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Clients receiving services from a rehab aftercare program are usually stable and in the maintenance phase of recovery, having completed detox and/or intensive inpatient treatment. Rehab aftercare services can vary widely based on clients' individual and evolving needs, but often include peer coaching, relapse prevention support, 12 step program induction, and medical, mental health, and social service referrals. Individual care plans are typically developed by the client in partnership with their case manager and care team.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.

Treatments

Fighting a two-front war against both substance use and co-occurring mental health issues can be exhausting, but White Deer Run provides a specialized track uniquely designed to address the issues these individuals face. Individuals in the co-occurring disorders track will receive individual and group therapy designed to build skills and increase knowledge of their co-occurring disorders.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Individual therapy provides an opportunity for participants in the residential rehabilitation program to receive support and process issues that have emerged during the course of treatment. At their rehab center, individual therapy is provided at least once per week depending on each individual’s needs.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Family therapy: Families can often be a strong source of first-line support for women who are struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. As a result, counselors at our rehab center provide weekly family therapy services for participants in our program.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

I only just got done with the intake phone call with Crystal, and I already feel like things are going to be better. If even half of the staff members at the facility I go to are as kind, professional and understanding as she was then I know that this will be a great experience

Disappointed to say the least dropped a family member there 445pm and by 930am the next day checked out. Witnessed clients cheeking meds and passing them off to other clients, nursing staff witnessed as well and still gave the client more meds. Staff then called to tell me that my family checked out and they were very rude. When I tried to make said staff member aware she made all kinds of excuses and very rude. My family member was treated very rudely as well. I actually feel like maybe things should be looked into by the state. I would not recommend this facility. If I could give zero stars I would. To further this review another client witnessed these same actions for 3 weeks. Finally opened up in group and they laughed at this guy.

When I came here to detox, the first night I stayed there I woke up in the middle of the night full of bites from BED BUGS. I had to move out the room and they didn’t have a room for me until my last day there. The comfort meds helped me a lot, you can’t bring vapes but you can bring cigarettes which was very unfortunate for me since I smoke vape and not cigarettes. I would’ve sued but when you go in, you have to sign a paper stating you can’t sue them for whatever reason if anything happens (I’m not too sure on this but this is what I was told when I signed electronically and didn’t get a physical copy). Other than that some of the nurses were rude and some weren’t.

Avoid being institutionalized if you can help it. You will be trapped as the milk state insurance while assuring you it's all for your good. Not that seeking help isn't a good idea. Avoid this if you can. My experience was I committed voluntarily and was kept months too long in a facility that was a correctional overflow for plea bargains seeking lesser sentencing via 'rehab'

I went there for a detox and got through barely. I got talked into staying longer for the program but ended up walking out on my 8th day. I spent one week there and walked out AMA.... as there were numerous conflicts between staff and clients. There were major arguments and almost fights everyday. The staff and nursing were actually really nice but i was lied to about being able to pick my stuff up. The nursing also confused me with another person twice. They initially said i would have to wait until the next day i left on a wednesday and im not able to pick my stuff up until the following monday.....i wouldnt suggest this place unless it was the only option left. but im still clean after going there because after that experience i never want to go to a rehab or drink ever again.

Awesome place if you want Real Recovery. It works if you work it. My Counselor Rich is the man and saved my life. Shout out to my WDR people, 13 months clean and counting!!

WDR was my first and hopefully last rehab. I didn’t really know what to expect but I can say this place and everyone who works there are top notch. From the kitchen staff to housekeeping. The nurse and techs cared more about my recovery than I did. They really try to work with you. My case worker Donna was the bomb and even though she was in charge of my case that didn’t stop any of the workers from helping me when I needed it. The techs have a story of their own and they really get it. No one was judge mental and they treated everyone like a human being. There isn’t one person who worked there that I wish I didn’t meet. I honestly wish I could have bought them all home with me. Even the community was awesome. Clients helping clients. I give WDR a 10+ on the rating skill. The director even steps in and got his hands dirty. It’s team work at its best. I honestly fought the program the whole time for my own reasons. A week later I’m still sober ❤️ Thanks WDR for believing in me even when I didn’t believe in myself you guys made a good impact on me and my family Loves y’all more. Good luck to anyone who joins this program you will not be disappointed ❤️💪
