They are awful. Screwed my husband around to rack up insurance he was to go in the 28 day program 20 some days ago and FINALLY started this Wednesday. The case worker he has is harder to get ahold of than Donald Trump himself and does not answer my husband. The nurses are arrogant then when you give the same attitude back they Blocked me from calling my own husband all while we have a 33 week pregnant daughter whose been going into labor since 26 weeks. There is not even enough staff to run a hospital properly. I would not send my worst enemy to that place. Look long and hard into all the reviews before you go here for help.

I already filed a complaint with the California department of health cdph.ca.gov.My minor was admitted in a 5150 hold from St Frances this was the closest facility that was contracted with Kaiser. I had to call over 30x and still no one told me what was going on with my son. Most of the time they didn t even answer the phone.I also was told by my son that medication was administered and no one called me to authorize that. I let rn Gerald know and he said that it was melatonin. That they should have informed him what he was getting. You can t give medication without the parents consent no matter what it is unless it s an emergency is what rn Damiana said.I was constantly told by more than 3 nurses Dr. Allikhan would give me a call he never did. I was constantly told he hasn t seen a psychiatrist by rn Gerald, which is illegal. Cali law says a minor has to see a psychiatrist within 24hrs of the hold. Until I showed up and made a scene I was given very little detail from rn supervisor Damiana.I was even told his hold is over and if he can stay voluntarily (which isn t covered by insurance). Rn nurse Gerald didn t mention that. Then I was told if take him after the hold I can get him anytime and it wouldn t be against medical advice. That s what nurse Damiana said.I even took my sonclothes they didn t give them to him until the next day at 4pm. My son constantly called and said how the rooms were freezing. Kids were fighting, kissing, & 1 kid was cutting himself with his nails and the nurse told him to sit down. I called and left a message with the nurse manager Kym stating I wanted to file a complaint against the doctor and no one has called me back.I let the nursing station and the receptionist know my son s stay was no longer covered and I would be picking him up around 8pm. I even told his case manger Tonya who said she would reach out to Dr. Allikhan and get back to me. I constantly had to call to try to reach Tonya as well.I arrived and told them I was taking my son. Then I was asked who said my kid could leave? I explained it yet again. Then I was told he s leaving AMA. I had to wait for rn Eduardo who was on lunch. When he finally came out it was already over 1hr then he said give him 30-40 more minutes for the paper work.I waited over 2hrs and called and let them know I was still outside waiting for my son. It was almost 11pm. I was told to go get something to drink because it would be a few more minutes. I went off. The receptionist said there s lots of people being discharged and not enough help to process it.Before I drove off I asked for the supervising nurse again. Rn Eduardo came out and I told him what the papers said and rn Damiana he said she was wrong. It s still AMA unless the case manger put a plan in place.Dr Allikhan falsified reports saying he spoke to me about taking my son AMA when no one said a thing. I still haven t spoken to the doctor. I showed rn Eduardo and I showed him how the paperwork says my son is being released to a hospital and I said it s not true. He said that s the nurse not knowing what they re doing. So who knows what they re doing at this facility?! It seems to me that they re just getting paid by insurances and don t care what s happening inside. No one knows how to do their job? There s much more to my story but this is it in a nutshell. I m going to see who else I can report them to because they need to be SHUT DOWN!

Accepted Insurance

Canyon Ridge Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) support a client's sustained sobriety as they exit detox or step down from an inpatient program. IOPs are also designed for clients who are at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in a minimum of nine hours of therapy per week, but clients may receive up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP treatment modalities often combine psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive form of outpatient treatment where clients meet during the day and return home in the evening. PHP treatment doesn't require 24-hour care and often serves as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down after a residential program. With PHP treatment, you can receive daily support for 6 to 8 hours which includes evidence-based therapies and medication management. The cost of PHP treatment typically varies but averages 90 days.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Substances can prevent the absorption of nutrients and cause damage to your body's systems. Nutrition therapy in California addresses the deficiencies in vitamins and minerals that are caused by substance abuse.

Recreational therapy is included in alcohol and drug addiction treatment to focus on engaging you in healthy activities that reduce your cravings and improve your overall health and well being. When you participate in group sports, art, or nature walks, you develop new interests and find a meaningful way to spend your time and reduce your cravings.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Temperature was almost see-your-breath cold, I felt like nobody cared. Patients often made jokes about sedation, like it was common. It's dirty and my water didn't even work. I just feel like nobody took me seriously. I had a traumatic experience here also, it was not handled well. I was not put in a separate room, the only thing they offered was meds. There were only two people I feel who genuinely cares. If you're about to be booked into this place, good luck... It's like prison. White bricks too. If anybody from this place reads this, thank you, and I thank you for your help and service, but I don't think that I was treated very well. It felt like I was there just because I needed to be alive and nothing else. (I was in Unit 1)

RUN DO NOT LET THEM TAKE YOUR KID HERE. The only reason im even giving one star is because the psychiatrist, Dr Idress, is attentive and does seem to care about the patients. But where do I even begin....They do not answer the phone. We've stayed with other hospitals where they were calling me twice a day to check in. At Canyon Ridge no one calls you, you have to call them which takes hours of harassing their phone lines. There are giant cockroaches (water bugs) throughout the bathrooms. My child was found with a blade on them and NO ONE CALLED THE PARENTS. I had to be informed by my kid of the incident and they onlybinformed me once I called them. That alone is insane. The atmosphere should be therapeutic, but it's more disciplinary. A special shout out to our janky caseworker, Marlene, who called me and told me she arranged a referral for my kid to transfer to a different facility, and/or be discharged on a Saturday morning. And straight up LIED. The other facility never received a referral. It was never sent. It's now Saturday morning, no discharge order. My kid is stuck there. And conveniently Marlenes not in the office weekends, and didnt leave any instructions for weekend staff. They're sending my kid back to me worse then when she got there. They should be liable if a child hurts themselves or someone else upon their release. You will see mixed reviews for all of these kinds of facilities, but this place is truly a horror.

Im still suicidal. I got suprise medical bills for a total of $2,300 after they insisted I would not owe anything for outpatient. I should have died in october and instead I lived and now I wanna die more and have these bills that Canyon Ridge and dr whethey insisted I wouldnt have. And the person theyre redirecting us to isnt helpful and is hella rude Update: After trying multiple times over the course of like months now to get in contact with them, some sort of financial help was offered. But I only bump up to a generous 3 stars because it took so long, they never got back to us so we had to reach out, and ever sense my initial reply I havent gotten a sense of them caring or really wanting to help. The vibe was very "leave us alone". I was gonna make it two stars, but the group therapist felipe was a cool understanding therapist. I really wanna give a higher rating, but if I think abt the financial BS and all the things I origionally wanted to he forgiving of? Like the slower then slow systems for how the place is ran, questionable inpatient enviroment, rude and sometimes neglegent inpatient staff? The best compliment of inpatient is that the staff werent intentionally trans/homophobic, and of outpatient the best I can say is some of the staff are cool really well intended people it seems. I just dont think its enough for a good rating, especially after the suprise charges. Charges that I am confident happened because a mix of insurances being shit, but also partly thanks to the mismanagement of Canyon Ridge. Its giving "Trying my best", but in some settings your best isnt enough? Idk, Canyon ridge is the best out/inpatient I've been to and I'd low key would rather die then go there again ngl. And it really sucks to say that, because some of the staff are 12/10 people. But thems the only reason I didnt give a 1 star review, and as a whole I do not ike Canyon Ridge.

My daughter recently stayed at Canyon Ridge for the second time - the first time was 3 years ago and she had psychosis. This time around she needed her meds adjusted & was feeling manic. She checked herself in. I left a bad review a few years ago because I believed what she said as I did not understand psychosis. I want to apologize and acknowledge everyone there who works very hard this is not an easy job to take care of our loved ones. Thank you everyone for giving her the best care possible I truly appreciate it and she is now attending IOP. Claire was wonderful!

If it weren’t for Canyon Ridge and all the support I received there, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I’m working, traveling, and living a life I never imagined possible. While I still have difficult days, I now have the tools and coping skills to manage them—skills I learned during my time there. I never thought I’d have the opportunity to visit Japan once, let alone twice. The time I spent in IOP and in treatment truly saved me from myself. It showed me that things really do get better with time, patience, and consistent effort. If you had asked me a few years ago, during one of those small group therapy sessions, whether I believed life could be this fulfilling, I would’ve thought you were lying. Canyon Ridge also played a key role in helping me get into rehab, which ultimately changed the entire trajectory of my life. I will always be deeply grateful for the guidance, support, and meaningful friendships I found at Canyon Ridge.

For my fellow Military Members. They have like a slogan written above the front desk that says "we return You To Duty with Honor" and I think they really try do that from my experience, So if anyone is trying to get some help or rehab, I'd recommend this place.

A family member was taken to Canyon Ridge Hospital under a 5150/5250. The care provided to our family member was excellent. She appreciated the classes and activities provided and learned some coping mechanisms to deal with her issues. The poor reviews have a lot to do with the nature of their business. Behavioral (Mental) Health treatment is extremely scarce in the United States. Family members are stressed with an ill family member where a cure is almost an impossibility. Once released, there are few resources available for continued treatment. Resources at Canyon Ridge are focused on patients, so it can be extremely frustrating for family members trying to get information from administrators at the facility. Case Manager Karen was extremely helpful, but continuity of care with mental illness is extremely difficult once a patient is discharged. As a retired licensed psychiatric technician, I am aware of the cuts to mental health services. The workload on staff is incredible, considering Canyon Ridge treats patients in different age groups, from youth to seniors. If a friend or family member ends up in this facility, be grateful. There are seldom beds available for new patients. The pathway to mental health services is more often found through law enforcement rather than our "health care system." Most people don't understand the complexities and lack of continuity in American health care. Hospitals almost never consult with the patient's physician(s). Because of the lack and shortage of Behavioral Health facilities and providers, trying to help a family member is an exercise in frustration. People tend to take out their frustrations on Yelp or other reviews, but few have an understanding of how and why mental/behavioral health services have been neglected in the USA. Canyon Ridge provides a difficult service that is in high demand. Dealing with a friend or relative suffering from mental illness is extremely stressful. That is the reason for most of the frustrated poor reviews. If a crisis situation happens again, I hope a bed is available for our family member at Canyon Ridge. FYI, NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness offers support to families struggling with a troubled family member.

I went here as a child years ago. It wasn't totally pleasant but I felt I was treated humanely here. Conditions were fine. There was a lot of watching TV. There was decent therapists. There was time in a gym. The food was alright. Kids in my unit misbehaved and were treated appropriately. One therapist gave very good advice that helped me a lot. I don't remember his name, but I remember he was a jiu jitsu black belt who had kids. It was a rough time for me. I'm not glad I was here, but I think this place was fair to me.

I recently stayed At canyon ridge for a 28 day program on unit 3 for military and vets. My stay and treatment was fantastic. They treated me and everyone on the unit with the utmost respect and care. My care team took time to listen and took my input for my treatment. When I needed more intensive therapy, I spoke up and they gave me more one on one therapy sessions. Highly recommend this location to anyone struggling or in a mental health crisis.
