I had a very unprofessional experience here at "the center for professional counseling " . After several months of seeing a counselor, she abruptly ended my sessions with no explanation. Said she could not tell me why but her manager CAMI could if I wanted further information. Being that her and I had established a strong counselor/client relationship, I was completely blind sided and confused. . At first I was disinterested in more information as I was very upset to hear this news. After a few days, I ended up reaching out to her manager CAMI several times via phone call/voicemail and never got a response In life we all have our triggers , mine are rooted in trust and abandonment. As you can imagine, this event pushed both buttons. At the end of the day, I chose to except the outcome and move on . Deciding to trust in myself and make the choice to be ok without answers. There are individuals who seek therapy that are on a thin line. This event shook me and I would consider myself a pretty stable being. It took me about a year to write this partially because I was embarrassed to share this info. My hopes is that, this post wakes up those at this center. As a counselor , you should never leave a human worse off than you found them. I entered therapy just wanting to do some spring cleaning within myself and left therapy feeling mishandled. I spent months sharing about my life's intimate experiences only to log onto my session one day and be dismissed.

My son started treatment here with the therapist in training who he connected with at first and was making good progress. When he asked to decrease his sessions from twice a week to once a week, she said he would not be able to do that. She also insisted that he join an online support group for young adults with what she was not comfortable doing. She terminated his treatment leaving him feeling abandoned and misunderstood. This is a terrible place and does not support true mental health issues..

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I do not recommend anyone struggling with mental health go here. I was seeing a therapist with this company for 3 months. In the beginning I did an intake with 2 of their interns to match me with a therapist that is suitable for my mental health needs. I was then paired with a therapist shortly after who also happened to be an intern. I grew very fond, and started to trust this person a lot as I continued to see him frequently. A couple of weeks ago I asked my therapist, if there were any outpatient programs that he could send me information about because I could tell I was struggling a lot, and would possibly need higher care. I had not done anything to harm myself, but I wanted as much information to know how to proceed. My therapist then sent me an email with information of those outpatient programs. I ultimately felt as though I was not comfortable going into those programs but I would still like to continue working with my therapist, because I felt as though we were making progress and breakthroughs. As I was on my way to my last therapy appointment which was 2 weeks ago, I got a call from my therapist 15 minutes before hand and he told me on the phone that they will be discharging me immediately. I had no prior notice or warning. I was very confused, and it happened very abruptly, and I was not given any instructions, or reasoning as to why, other than his higher-ups felt as though they are no longer capable of helping me. I feel as though this was handled extremely poorly and I was very upset because I told them that I struggle with these things ever since the very beginning when I did my initial intake. I asked my therapist if I could please speak to his Director to get some clarity and explain to them that I was disappointed with how the situation was being handled, he told me they would call me the following Monday. I never got a call. We then tried to set up a call for Tuesday at a certain time. I also did not get a call, then finally Wednesday I called first there was no response but I shortly got a call back. I spoke to the Director very briefly and the response I got was “ we cannot help you because it would be unethical. You need higher Care.” I tried to explain that I felt as though this was very abrupt and I was constantly spoken over and interrupted. No one in their company tried to refer me to another therapist who was licensed and who is equipped to helping people in my situation. The only time I was given information was when I asked for it myself prior to knowing this was going to happen. I was very calm and clear with how I was feeling on the phone, but I was constantly being talked over and not heard, and having the same excuse that it would be ethical if I were to continue seeing them. The phone call was very short, approximately less than five minutes which then the Director decided to cut the conversation short and hang up in my face, his only response was “good luck”. The director’s name is Jack Mayhall. I am very disappointed with how this whole situation was handled because if they believed they were not equipped to helping me I should’ve known that in the very beginning when I expressed that in my intake; not after I’ve already been seeing and growing attached to one of their therapist for months, and opening up about struggles that are extremely painful. There was no concern for my well-being, and I find it very hypocritical that the excuse was it was unethical to keep seeing me, but I personally feel like it is very unethical to release a patient who is considered fragile at this time very abruptly, and when I try to have a conversation I am silenced and simply told good luck. I’m sure the therapists that work with this company are amazing as I did have a good experience with mine however I hope that the directors and supervisors have not done this to other people as well if they claim to care about mental health.

I am pleased with the help I’ve received from The Center for Individual and Family Counseling. The staff has been supportive, understanding, and professional since the first day I have been going there. It’s a great establishment for anyone looking for extra support. After all, mental health is wealth.
