About Cinnamon Hills Youth Crisis Center

Cinnamon Hills is a residential treatment program for youth who are 12 to 17 and have emotional or behavioral difficulties. This Center is located in Saint George, Utah next to Red Cliffs National Conservation Area. They are located on an urban campus right off I-100 and can be accessed via the Suntran Bus System. They are 109 miles north of Las Vegas and driveable from California, too.

Cinnamon Hills is accredited by the Joint Commission and is an accredited school. Their fees are dependent on services needed. They’ve been operating for more than 52 years.

Inpatient Care for Youth in Crisis in St. George

Youth here are housed in semi-private rooms with their own en-suite bathroom. They are taught how to make their beds, clean their room, do their own laundry and stick to a routine. Morning wake up is at 7:00 a.m. and bedtime is 10:00 p.m. each evening.

Youth will live in a secure and highly structured setting with well-trained staff. They’ll get to take part in various educational and therapeutic activities. They also enjoy three nutritious meals every day.

Therapeutic and Academic Supports for Utah Teens

Cinnamon Hills supports students in their academics. They work with kids who have an IEP and those who don’t.

The mental health services team gives youth therapy support. Together, they’ll identify problem behaviors and attitudes that are stopping them from succeeding in life. I like that this program focuses on helping students build inner strength, set and achieve goals, and plan for a bright future when they return home.

Students participate in weekly individual and family therapy. They join in group counseling three times a week as well. I like that they offer on-site family sessions to help parents prepare for reunification.

I was there so long ago i don't rember the time frame but I definitely was there on 9/11 for sure, SOME of the staff was great but I have long standing physical issues because of this place, the way they did restraints messed me up quite a bit and to the point I had to have an x-ray done on my wrist, also my knee gives out sometimes when going up stairs and now while I'm at work my shoulder starts to hurt to the point where I have to stop what I'm doing to lift my arm above my shoulder to get it to "pop" and have the pain subside. If you are planning to send a family member to one of these facilities it SHOULD be an absolute last resort... I lost out on having the proper guidance I needed to grow up as a healthy functional social adult.

This place gets 0 stars. I was there from 2003 to 2005 . I was abused physically mentally and emotionally and when they finally broke my soul I was ready to work their program. I graduated if one can call it that on January 13 2005 only later to find out it's not worth the paper it's printed on and the life long issues from the trauma . Hell with this place

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

12-step icon12-Step

Participants in 12 step programs engage in rigorous group counseling, peer coaching, and personal development. Though 12 step recovery is rooted in spiritual principles, religious affiliation is not mandatory. The steps model promotes participants' emotional and psychological healing, which is presumed integral to sustained sobriety. Regular attendance at group meetings is expected. These meetings are free, anonymous, peer-led, and accessible day and night in most communities. Gender and age-specific programs and other specialized formats are common.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

If your friend or family member is suffering physically or psychologically from substance use but denies there is a problem, it might be time for a drug intervention in Utah. This process involves meeting with an intervention specialist from a facility's intervention services program. This specialist will interview family members to gain an understanding of the situation, then facilitate the intervention. Their expertise can prove invaluable in navigating this complex confrontation.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

The foundation of motivational interviewing in Utah rests on four pillars: partnership, evocation, acceptance, and compassion. The therapist collaborates with the client, encouraging them to explore their options and make informed decisions about making changes in their lives.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills training helps you handle the daily obligations of work, school, and family. It rebuilds your self awareness and self confidence so you can face these challenges with healthy coping strategies rather than succumb to relapse.

DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!!

This whole facility is based off of power. Staff will restrain you for simply having an attitude and will make you sit in the quiet room and stare at the wall for hours in silence and if you move they will restrain you for 20+ mins while you scream and cry because it hurts ... Read More

I would never wish for even my worst enemy to go here. I went to this place when I was 12 years old all the way till I was 13 so 5 months and it was one of an very traumatic experience especially when I have seen people get into very painful restraints an so have I I remember when I got restrained I have ended up with bruises and scratches and cuts all over my arms. They would call codes on you for no reason. One of the staff would take one of the girls in to the gym every night and she would come back in the room about 30 minutes later and she would be balling her eyes out. I would never in a million years send my future kids to a place like this I don't want any kid to go though what I've been through. Ask your kids if they are okay make sure they are actually okay just hug them instead of sending them away, sometimes all your kid needs is a hug. Please don't send your children here they will hurt your child emotionally, physically, sexually and mentally. I still struggle with telling my family about everything as do so many people all around the world. Be safe to all the kids going to places like this as for everyone else be safe and check-in with you child more.

I was there when I was 17 up until I turned 18 which was in 2016. I definitely tried to report abuse to my social workers and my lawyer. Because I was a Because I was a foster kid. I also knew all of my rights since I grew up in the court system. All Phone calls are Monitored but my lawyer should’ve been private. Which was something that I requested including my lawyer. And they still violated client privilege rights. Because they wouldn’t let me speak to him alone therefore I couldn’t speak to him at all. Reading the comments of child abuse they are true and they fail to take children to the hospital if they’re extremely injured or extremely sick. They take advantage of restraining kids and will instigate and provoke kids just so they can restrain them. This is a great place if you want your child to be ABUSED! Mentally, emotionally, physically, sexually, verbally and medical neglect!!!!

Cinnamon Hills is a long standing crisis center that has established an exceptional life changing program for struggling teens and continues to be enormously successful. Additionally, the administration are among the best in the treatment world with invaluable experience in adolescent care. Nonetheless, Cinnamon Hills is truly a transformative community that is an outstanding solution for troubled youth.

A less experienced coworker made a ton more than I did. I spoke with HR, but the CFO wouldn’t even pay close to what she was making. I was let go the same day. She was also the one who told me the CFO was inconsiderate of the employees & yelled at them often for no reason. Several other coworkers also said I was better off not working for Cinnamon Hills. Thank you God!!
