My husband, son, and I engaged a consultant to help us find the right fit for a young adult transition program. It was clear that Engage was the right place for our family. In addition to being a welcoming and supportive community for our son, it was a great place to go deep through individual and group talk therapy, and community engagement through volunteering. We also participated in family therapy and while our son has graduated from the program, we continue to meet with our family therapist as we've made a great and lasting connection. While a "newer" program when we started with Engage, I really appreciated the leadership and staff's willingness and ability to hear and apply feedback to ensure the program was responsive to our needs. I highly recommend this program and I think the leadership and staff are doing the right work for the right reasons. Thank you Engage!

As a father of a young adult that attended the Engage program, I can say that the growth and self respect of my daughter is impressive. From having no defined path to follow, she is now happy attending College and working. My family fully recommend the Engage Young Adult program.

Dr. Jack Hinman and team provide an excellent program and our overall experience with Engage Transitions was quite positive. Our young adult was a participant at Engage for 11 months after personally selecting it from other similar programs. No situation or program is perfect, however the most important factor for us is that our son left a stronger person and continues to utilize skills he learned during his time at Engage. Our family had many opportunities to collaborate with Jack and Lacey during this period. Every family has different circumstances, so we always appreciated their flexibility, support and feedback during all the ups and downs. We were fortunate to visit the Cedar City area and Engage House/apartments a few times and always had good experiences. Last but not least, it a pleasure working with Josh on all things financial and Bridgeway Billing was amazing handling insurance.

The compassion that I have been shown means so much to me & out of all the programs I have encountered, this one is by far the BEST. When I sent my Godson to Liahona Academy, it was the hardest decision that I ever made. He has recently graduated, and I now know that it was also the best decision that I ever made. He struggled in the beginning, but once he finally understood that I only wanted him to become a better person, he started making changes. He is now ahead in school, has great grades, and an excellent relationship with anyone that he wants to have a relationship with. I can guarantee that if you sent your son here and you give him time to figure it out, he eventually will, and you will never regret your decision. My Godson came out of Liahona academy as a completely transformed man. He was a child with all kinds of manipulative “techniques”. Now he is a reborn man, a man who is honest and sincere, a man who you can count on to be a positive leader and have a great attitude. I am grateful for all the staff at Liahona academy, and especially for his therapist Benjamin Haslam, the program director, Richard May, and the case manager, Beverly Carayas. THANK YOU 🙏🏻

Forte Strong is a residential treatment program for young men in St. George, Utah. They provide residential mental health treatment and coaching for young adult men aged 18 through 30. Specifically, this program is for men struggling with failure to launch syndrome, avoidant personality, social anxiety disorder, and adjustment disorder. They do not
I recently left Forte Strong and am currently residing in St. George. I have a great job now and a chance to move up in my company by going to graduate school. Forte Strong was very tough in the beginning and to be completely honest, I actually hated it. I felt like everyone was against me, including the director. I thought they were just trying to make me jump through meaningless hoops. I was tired, depressed, anxious, and had very little self confidence. In a fit of frustration, I vented to one of my housemates the director wasn’t helping and was actually making it worse. The guy said the director’s methods will all make sense in the end. Obviously, at the time, I blew that off as utter nonsense. A month or so later, I was having a lot of anxiety and the director supported me in my time of need in a way that was quite unfamiliar to me at the time. I was shocked. He did care and not only that, he believed in my strength and resilience. My opinions of him changed almost immediately. He became my biggest mentor in the program. I went to him for problems I may have had, how I could have handled this situation differently, how I could have a better relationship with my parents, etc. He was there for me and I was ready to listen. In a matter of 5 and half months, my relationship with one of my parents changed drastically, a feat I thought was near impossible and hopeless when I entered the program. My resilience increased, my self confidence increased because I was doing well at work, and I had more trust in my abilities. Everything was changing for the better. I was going to be fine. I also made countless friends along the way, people that I will still keep in contact with for a while. I have also dealt with challenging people in the program, people who I really didn’t care for and who didn’t really align with my values. The program director mentored me through dealing with difficult people. It was an uphill battle, but it is all about learning. Now, I’m not going to say that this program is for everyone. It definitely is not. There is a stark contrast between the people who actually want to be there and to work on themselves and the people who feel forced by their parents. I was fortunately the former. And as I sit in my new apartment in St. George on a bright Saturday morning, I want to say thank you Brook for all you have done for me.

It is not an experience that is right for everyone but it has made a big difference for a family member. My thoughts: If you are looking for traditional heavy therapy environment focused on diagnosis and medication management this is not for your family member. Forte has therapy and medication management but it is not the core of what they do. It is a small piece of it and one that I think has opportunity to be improved upon. That being said, not why you come here. If you have a young man who cannot move forward to adulthood responsibilities regardless of the cause this may be for your family. I say may because there is really no way to predict if this formula is the right one. For our family member, routine, coaching, basic skills for healthy living and independence were that formula. A real differentiator here is the obligation to work during the program. It is not just an obligation but central to success. That, plus the independence gained riding and owning a motor scooter ( something I could never have imagined) made a huge impact. The coaches are kind, empathetic but tough and direct and the same time. They are practical and this coupled with the simplicity of life in St. George are also very helpful. My family member has chosen to remain in St. George and is is moving out on his own, has a nice job and is on the road to a professional career that feels more in line with his interests. His stress is vastly improved, as is depression and he has better interactions with his family than before. Opportunities exist with the therapy and communication with parents. It is not perfect but the Director is amazing and open to feedback. At the end of the day they genuinely care and work hard purely in the interests of these young men. It is expensive but if the behavior I see now sustains itself - well worth it.

I have struggled with intense, debilitating depression for the better part of 15 years. I had tried everything - dozens of antidepressants, other various medications, eating healthy, exercising regularly, etc but nothing seemed to work to help alleviate my symptoms fully. After completing the full treatment of TMS, I can genuinely say my life has significantly changed for the better. I was staring to feel hopeless in my battle with depression, that I would live like this for the rest of my life. Since TMS, my depression and anxiety has all but disappeared. I feel happy, motivated, and enjoy the day to day experience like I never knew I could. It’s been months since my last treatment, yet everyday continues to be a blessing. Jamie is extremely knowledgeable , educated, and overall just a great person. He has helped to change my life and I will forever be grateful for him. Long story short but I was first dosing and then ended up switching from the other methadone clinic to here (other one was horrible) let me tell you this place is TOP NOTCH. They actually care about your recovery and will work with you if you are having issues with payments or anything that is holding you back from getting your methadone. The program director is new her name is Lauren and she ROCKS if you have any issues go straight to her and she will listen and get you answers. She is a straight shooter no bs Director and I appreciate that. As long as you’re 100% honest with her she will work with you. I can tell you first hand that while I was there for 4 years, I did not experience any abuse. Quite the opposite actually, I finally found people who listened to me, people who showed me tough love. I truly believe that was the best thing to happen in my life and Im still in contact with the staff there and it’s been years. Alot of the staff there take a personal intrest in the students. I know I could call Grandma, Jill or Layne if I ever needed anything and they would help. All I can say some of the kids DONT want help.. or to change.. coming from a child whom suffered a lot of physical abuse before getting to the ranch, the consequences they issued like mucking stalls and doing workouts built my character and weren’t abusive, and I’m beyond grateful for this place.

After a hard decision, I sent my son to SRS in 2020, 4 years ago. It changed his life for the better. It took him 2 years, but he did it. Was he 100% different, no, probably 80%, it's a work in progress. Your entire life you will work on your skills with your mental illness and behaviors, but he definitely came home so much better then when he left our family. Life was so much better, and we were able to have a relationship that we haven't had before and the sibling were too. The therapist was fantastic. He even did family therapy with one of the siblings at home that was having the most trouble with my son. He had a genuine interest in the entire family and having them be able to all work together. The entire staff at Sorenson's was wonderful and caring. His case manager would call weekly and update me with what was going on. They made sure he always had doctor and dentist appointments made when needed. If he was ever hurt, they would notify me and take him to the doctors. His favorite things were the campouts and the horses. Yes, you did have to earn them through your levels, which meant you needed to do your work and stay on task with your program. And if you weren't or got in trouble, you lost your points, and you started working on yourself again to earn them back. Things are a privilege and you learn that and you work for them. Yes there we're some people that may have been rougher than they needed to be with the kids but the kids figured out, don't misbehave, Get yourself in gear. My son made great friends while he was there. He even moved back and went to college in the area and was room mates with one of them. He also went back and wanted to work there to help the kids out, but wasn't old enough. Unfortunately almost a year after he graduated he was killed in a car accident. Some of the boys (friends) from the school came to his service, I didn't even know about them, and they shared wonderful stories about their experiences at the school with me. Some of them check in with me online just to see how I'm doing. There's a lot more good things that came out of the school then bad I can say. I highly recommend Sorensons Ranch School.

The only program that has been successful for our family is Red Hawk Academy (RHA). She has been in three different programs, two of which she was expelled due to her defiance and conduct. RHA offers a safe and caring environment. The staff listen to us and guide us to making the best decisions for our family and our daughter. RHA offers encouragement and support to our daughter. It is hard to think about where my daughter would be if we did not seek help for her last year. Words of wisdom, when you call a program or visit a program, pay attention to your gut instinct. Ask for the telephone numbers of parents who have had a daughter in the program. Not all therapeutic boarding schools are bad and abusive. Talk to the head of the school/program and make sure you feel heard and understood by that person. The first time I called Valerie at RHA, I had a really good feeling. She had a positive attitude and answered each and every question I asked. She was not evasive and she was forthright with her responses. I am truly indebted to RHA...the school has saved my daughter!

Maple Mountain Recovery in Utah completely exceeded my expectations. From day one, their team created a highly personalized treatment plan tailored just for me—every session felt tailored to my needs. What really sets them apart is the way they seamlessly blend healing with genuine care and enjoyable experiences. Between therapy sessions, I had options like yoga, cold plunges in nature, art therapy, acupuncture, and many therapeutic adventures. It felt like real recovery, not just treatment. The staff is amazingly attentive—every single team member knew my name, remembered my goals, and checked in regularly to see how I was doing. They made sure I felt supported 100% of the time and built an environment that was both professional and warm. If you’re looking for a recovery center that cares deeply, customizes your journey, and injects a dose of fun and relaxation into the process—Maple Mountain Recovery is it. Highly recommend!
