I’m posting this on a burner account because I am not willing to reveal my identity but I went to Engage Transitions. I was told it was going to be a small program of 4-6 adults ranging from the ages of 18 to 24, but when I got there, things swiftly started to change. More houses were being built and expanding the program and I no longer felt like it was the small community that I wanted to work on myself in. The staff were irritable and sometimes rude and demanding, often making me feel like I was forced to do activities that I didn’t want to do, or weren’t comfortable with, like the gym, hiking, rock climbing or something like that. They stopped the yoga sessions and things went downhill. Other clients there weren’t being punished for making the house feel unsafe, letting random strangers in, drinking, smoking, partying, getting other people high. And then the sexual assaults started happening, between minors and adults. The program and staff did nothing to ease the safety of the rest of the house and it continues to happen right under staff noses, for WEEKS at a time. They did nothing to make me feel safe there at all, and constantly was worried if I was going to be sexually assaulted next. The founders and therapists also didn’t do anything, they brushed all the concerns that some of the clients had about having minors in an adult facility. Obviously that backfired badly. I worry for the young adults that were assaulted by other clients that were adults. I firmly believe that background checks should be done on EVERYONE that enters the program, as some of the clients had histories of assaults, both physical and sexual. Jack Hinman, one of the co-founders of Engage said that he didn’t know how to do background checks, but how hard is it to hire someone who can? I warn everyone that enrolls here, please be aware of the dangers of this, and that not everything that the founders/therapists tell you is real. This is the truth.

My husband, son, and I engaged a consultant to help us find the right fit for a young adult transition program. It was clear that Engage was the right place for our family. In addition to being a welcoming and supportive community for our son, it was a great place to go deep through individual and group talk therapy, and community engagement through volunteering. We also participated in family therapy and while our son has graduated from the program, we continue to meet with our family therapist as we've made a great and lasting connection. While a "newer" program when we started with Engage, I really appreciated the leadership and staff's willingness and ability to hear and apply feedback to ensure the program was responsive to our needs. I highly recommend this program and I think the leadership and staff are doing the right work for the right reasons. Thank you Engage!

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

When treating substance use disorder and a mental health condition, the best approach is to treat both conditions at the same time. Known as dual diagnosis treatment, this kind of specialized care provides you with 24/7 access to medical and mental health professionals, group therapy in order to provide a supportive peer group, and family therapy which helps to improve relationships with loved ones.

Programs

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Therapists may use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Utah to address substance use and mental health disorders. The main focus is to change thinking patterns, which leads to behavioral change. Subtypes of CBT include exposure therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and acceptance commitment therapy.

Life skills training helps you handle the daily obligations of work, school, and family. It rebuilds your self awareness and self confidence so you can face these challenges with healthy coping strategies rather than succumb to relapse.

During dialectical behavior therapy in Utah, you'll work on developing four main skills. Interpersonal effectiveness helps you manage your relationships. Mindfulness keeps you present in the current moment rather than worry or regret. Distress tolerance helps you accept emotions. Emotional regulation gives you the tools you need to successfully manage intense emotions.

The foundation of motivational interviewing in Utah rests on four pillars: partnership, evocation, acceptance, and compassion. The therapist collaborates with the client, encouraging them to explore their options and make informed decisions about making changes in their lives.

Recreational therapy helps you in your addiction recovery program by improving your overall well being. Activities can include sports, music, and nature excursions that give you positive experiences, reduce your cravings, and offer the opportunity to reduce your stress. These aid in your addiction recovery.
