About Gateway Rehabilitation Center – Main Campus

Gateway Rehabilitation Center – Main Campus is a drug and alcohol rehab facility located in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. They are an inpatient and outpatient facility that treats people with substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder.

They provide a full medical and psychological assessment to determine the level of care that you need. A clinician will ask you questions about the substances you use and the frequency with which you use them.

They offer detox services to people who have a certain level of substances in their system. The staff is there 24 hours a day, and they are fully medically trained. Detoxing from drugs is often very uncomfortable and may cause nausea and muscle cramping. The staff can provide you with medication assisted treatment to ease the pain of detoxification.

Inpatient clients will attend a full day of therapy. This will include both group and individual sessions. They treat people with behavioral therapy, which encourages individuals to think differently in order to change their behavior. They provide trauma informed care to people who started using drugs or alcohol because of a traumatic experience.

The best thing about this place is all of the amenities and extras that they offer. You will stay in a comfortable room and get three healthy meals a day. You will enjoy art and music therapy. You can even participate in adventure based therapy with the other residents.

Gateway offers outpatient treatment as well. You may need to come in several times a week or just once or twice a week. The staff can also refer you to resources such as sober living homes and vocational training centers.

If their care is as organised and coordinated as their intake process, it'll take divine intervention to ensure you walk out the exit door. My partner was referred by the ER, was assured this place would call ASAP to complete the intake process, and discharged after receiving an affirmation to go ahead and drink more because the withdrawal process has always been severe. 2 days later, no call. Contacted them via web, and an intake specialist was supposed to call within the hour. 18 hours later, I sent a web message, and someone called to get personal information, but upon completion, no one with the qualifications to do so was available... Again, was advised my phone would ring in an hour, but by 9pm, my phone did not ring once. The following morning, we were advised they could not accept my partner due to the fact that seizures have accompanied the detox period in the past, and insisted a fax I personally saw the confirmation of receipt for never arrived; considering the person who entered personally identifying information was made aware that we were concerned about seizures within 3 minutes of taking the call, as was the initial person I spoke with the day before, as well as the hospital that made the referral, FOUR DAYS I could have been searching for a facility equipped to provide first aid until EMS arrived were completely lost. 4 hours later, i had to call EMS again because my partner was barely breathing after heeding the advice he was given by medical professionals. Addiction is not a choice, it is a disease; everyone is up in arms about the increase in substance abuse related deaths, but how are they to be avoided when ERs discharge at-risk patients, advise they carry on drinking instead of admitting them for observation until a bed is ready, and so the SAME THING 2 days later, when the patient is breathing so shallow their chest is barely moving? When someone wants help, wants to safely detox, wants to return to their IOP program, and get back to work so they can pay rent, bills, and groceries, especially when withdrawals from alcohol are deadly, why are we, as a society, okay with them being turned away from treatment?

After reading these reviews I was very concerned about sending my Son to this facility so I called them and spoke with Mary at the front desk who was very sweet! I then did the chat and left my number, within 10 minutes Kristina called me back which impressed me with such a quick response. She was very caring with lots of compassion. She did not rush me off the phone and answered all my questions. Do your homework as I did before you make a decision.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. Their intensive inpatient program focuses on early recovery and self-awareness skills to not only overcome drug and alcohol dependency but to give patients a new sense of direction and purpose. Gateway Rehab offers residential inpatient drug and alcohol treatment for both male and female patients.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one’s body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Pennsylvania is devoted to the treatment of addiction. Levels of care, treatment methods, and settings differ, but the aim of each program is to end drug dependency and empower participants to achieve long-term recovery.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Substance use disorder is a family disease. When someone has a problem with substance use, it affects everyone in the family. At Gateway Rehab, they encourage the family to be part of their loved one’s addiction treatment and recovery process. Programming for family and loved ones will encourage them to discuss the impact that addiction has on their life and on others associated with their loved one. They also assist with finding support groups such as Al-anon and Nar-anon where you will learn to take care of themselves and be a vital part of the recovery process. Recovery for the patient is enhanced greatly by a healthy family.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

This place saved my life close to 5yrs ago. I'm so grateful for the staff and resources that were available to help me through my recovery. Being there for me when I wasn't able to be there for myself. Truly a blessing. I kind of miss being there. Love it! ❤️

I would have given this place a much higher rating but they have nurses who refuse to give comfort meds when they are needed most and I have heard they lost Angel . Idk if she quit or what happened but she was the person when detoxing that actually cared about the patient.so many others there felt like they didn’t care and their only job was to keep us for our insurance money and not actually help us. Without angel in detox I don’t believe I would go back.

Here’s a draft for your review of Gateway Rehab Center in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania: I recently stayed at Gateway Rehab Center in Aliquippa for detox, and I want to share my experience. First off, the staff in the detox unit was amazing. They were incredibly supportive, professional, and attentive, which made the detox process as comfortable as possible. The rooms were a pleasant surprise too—each one had a TV and its own bathroom with a shower, which made a big difference in my comfort level during this tough time. That said, the food was a major downside. Unfortunately, I found it almost impossible to eat anything without throwing it up. The quality and taste were just not there, which was disappointing considering the importance of proper nutrition during detox. I don’t have any experience with their inpatient 28-day program, so I can’t speak to that, but based on the detox floor, it’s clear the staff is dedicated to helping people through the early stages of recovery. If they could improve the food situation, this would have been a much better overall experience.

Best place to seek treatment arguably. Although my findings there pertain to the shortage of sober staff. Most staff are in recovery creating a rift that's uncomprehensible to anyone other than the sober for life team. Found staff to always be a leg behind the clients for some reason so if you want to work your own program it does work. Recovery is a one man job. The Yoga teacher rocks too. Shout out to Carol!!!

Im extremely disappointed in the staff at this Gateway Recovery location, staff member Malissa in particularly. On the date of 4/28/24 she treated myself and loved one with complete disrespect. She was speaking with a current client there about very personal matters regarding other current clients which in a HIPPA violation. She deserves to be held accountable for her actions. So unprofessional, degrading and embarrassing on Gateways behalf. The client this is regarding is in the long term R.E.S.T program requiring the individuals to be held to a much higher standard, those requirements should apply to the staff as well. Do better.

Got molested here when I was a teen. And harassed by multiple adults and treated unfairly. I still have nightmares from this place.
