Nurses here can't even help patients with their basic needs. I have to shower and handle all hygiene for my child. If I would have known this I would have found them a bed elsewhere!!! I go to visit and have a child in blood soaked pants Nurses don't do shit except sit. Yet I'm sure I'm going to get some high ass bill and yet I'm driving back and forth to handle basic needs. At this point I might as well take them home and care for them myself! This place is a pathetic joke!

We didn't have a choice. The ambulance brought my husband to this hospital as it was closest to his workplace. The overall "bedside manner" of the staff was terrible, except for Dr. Zink.1. The wrong IV needle was inserted for his CT scan procedure, so the nurse had to do it over again2. The 2nd blood draw coagulated before it was finally delivered to the lab. So, the nurse had to draw it again3. My husband had to urinate. The nurse came in and placed a bottle on the cart. Walked back out without even offering assistance - he was wired to machines and would not have been able to reach the bottle if I wasn't there!4. We waited 4 hours after CT was done before anyone came back into the ER room. I physically tried to ask for the nurse to get the Tylenol that Dr. Zink said he could have almost 6 hours prior! The nurse finally came to the room after we pressed the call button.5. When the evening shift ER doctor, Dr. Smiley finally came in to talk about the CT results, he kept looking at his watch while we were asking questions. We felt like an inconvenience to his "schedule".6. When my husband was discharged, the nurse unhooked his wires, gave him his discharge instructions and walked out. Didn't remove any of the sticky heart monitor pads from his chest, didn't offer to help him off the bed, absolutely NOTHING.7. When we walked out of the ER...not a single staff member said "good night", "feel better", "don't come back"....NOTHING!8. Final straw...when I went to fill prescription at our pharmacy the next day, they couldn't fill it while I was there because there were no identification numbers on the script identifying Dr. Smiley as a licensed physician! My pet's veterinarian clinic would have been a better choice than these yahoos!!!If a zero star was an option...that would be my selection for this review.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Individual, couples, family and group psychotherapy is provided by psychologists and licensed clinical social workers. Traditional reasons for seeking therapy/counseling, include, but are not limited to, treatment of depression, anxiety and/or other psychiatric disorders, the desire to change self-defeating patterns of behavior, gain self-knowledge and acceptance, or utilize support to problem-solve an individual's daily living issues.
inpatient iconInpatient
Completed in fall 2003, the 12-bed unit was designed specifically for the therapeutic treatment of adolescents aged 12 to 18 years, and young adults aged 19 to 24 years. The inpatient unit is the safest option for patients who are at risk for harm or have problems that cannot be managed safely on an outpatient basis. The unit’s structured, therapeutic environment provides a dual diagnostic evaluation, multidisciplinary assessment and treatment planning and integrated skills-focused programming.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at Evanston Hospital is a time-limited, structured psychotherapy program designed to meet the needs of patients who are in need of intensive skill building to better cope with mental illness. The program offers structured treatment when conventional outpatient therapy is not sufficient to stabilize an individual’s symptoms. The program helps participants transition through strengthening abilities to identify triggers, utilize coping skills, communicate effectively, and manage stress.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs provide a full continuum of care for clients who are exiting inpatient treatment. Though outpatient care is often considered an element of drug rehab aftercare, services typically continue for the remainder of the clients' life and long after formal treatment is completed. Clients work with their case managers and care team to formulate a customized portfolio of medical, mental health, and social service resources designed to evolve as the client's needs change.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Illinois is designed to help people recover from addiction to a number of substances. The length of each program and its intensity tend to vary, and the plan of care is based on your individual needs.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

During couples therapy in Illinois, you may work on a variety of relationship challenges. Couples therapy can address topics such as finances, children, health, addiction, intimacy, external stressors, and family relationships. You'll develop tools to address these types of challenges in healthy ways.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation. The Family Program includes private and multi-family sessions, to support family members throughout the treatment and recovery process.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Without nutritional balance, you can't achieve overall health. Nutrition therapy restores this balance by providing healthy meals and teaching you how to choose foods that support recovery. It is an important part of most rehab programs in Illinois.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

The use of nicotine replacement therapy in Illinois supplies your body with a small, controlled dose of nicotine without exposing it to the other harmful chemicals in cigarettes. This dose reduces withdrawal and satisfies cravings, so you can wean yourself off nicotine use.

Expect to wait 6+ hours even if you are experiencing a serious injury or condition. This ER does not have the capacity to meet demand, Endeavor knows this but will not do anything to improve the situation. Instead they cut staff to the minimum and refuse to pay staff what they are worth. The recent renovations only added 5 ER beds and seemingly decreased space in the waiting area, even though they utilize this as an extension of the ER floor due to the lack of space. Good people work here, but they are being let down by not being given the resources they need to succeed. Endeavor Health cares more about profits than care for patients.

Unfortunately, due to the walk-in nature of the Emergency Room, volumes can fluctuate and we do our very best to provide high quality, efficient care to as many patients as possible. I have shared this feedback with our Emergency Department as we take all feedback seriously. The good: The post op nurses, as well as OR nurse Chris, were amazingly kind and patient. Surgeon was wonderful as well. Their main concern was for my comfort, and they showed an amazing amount of compassion towards me. Everything was clean, and the procedure went well. Even got taken back early! The bad: The hospital told me to be there at 9 am for a 10:30 procedure. I get there at 9, and...they told me I was an hour early and my arrival time was 10 am. I had not received a call confirming a 10 am arrival time. The last call I received from the pre-op staff said I needed to be at the hospital at 9 am. Was extremely frustrated by this lack of communication and lack of organization! Also- IV nurse seemed extremely inexperienced. I was told an ultrasound machine would be used to find a vein...that never happened, and I had to be stuck two times.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The wait time to get seen is 12hrs or more. One doctor in the ER department is ridiculous. My father came in through ER. They triaged him and took vitals but neglected to tell us, his BP was over 180mmHg and they sent him back to wait in the lobby for 12hrs, until day shift came in. Once the shift change happened, they rushed him back and immediately attached him to the ECG machine for monitoring. This is unacceptable. I would not recommend bring your loved ones to this hospital. Their lack of care will ultimately cause someone to die in their lobby.
