Emergency room experience here is horrible. Forget about care. They are all about ripping you off. I have top class insurance United Health care Choice plus. This hospital. we never get a Room, you are always. The will charge a room and care. But in fact the care here has been substandard. They are all about taking money from you rather than care. Ask for a snack when you are sick they will give you stale and expired food.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to the mental health treatment. Their inpatient treatment provides a safe environment for residents to recover. The staff include psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, counselors, and case managers. Additionally, ECT is provided on a case by case basis.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don't require 24-hour care. It is a more intensive short-term treatment than outpatient programs. Clients attend from 9 am to 4 pm daily to the campus.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The detoxification treatment length of stay varies depending on the individual needs. The treatment also include medication management, individual counseling, family counseling and aftercare planning.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you enroll in drug rehab in Virginia, a treatment plan is designed by professional staff in order to help you overcome drug addiction and modify addictive behaviors. This may include evidence-based treatments, group and individual therapy, and relapse prevention.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

My son was in ICU trama unit, received excellent care. He was then moved to Trama unit 1. All his other nurses have been great, except one. Her name is Wendy, she was his nurse on Thursday August 28th 2025. I called to check on my son Bruce, she said he's doing same, well I don't know what same is. I live over 2 hours away and my his father and I are in late 60's and 72 yrs old. When I called to speak with him about 3:20 today. I was told she is busy and for me to call his fiance to get number to his room . This is unacceptable behavior for any professional person. My son is still unable to walk, swallow, talk and still very confused about his condition and why he's there. My name is Ann Henry and I am his mother. His name is Bruce Henry. Room 344. Unacceptable.

I went to an ER at Inova Fairfax hospital in Virginia on February 12, 2025 because of acute (burning) pain in the bottom of my abdomen, nausea, dizziness, and weakness. I told them I had adhesive disease surgery, but they put it in the quotes. They did an abdomen/pelvis CT scan and said there aren't any abnormalities, put the wrong diagnosis “Dysuria” and didn’t refer to a urologist in the discharge paper. They did an abdomen/pelvic CT scan at the Inova Fairfax hospital. At the Abdomen Pelvis CT scan in the Inova Fairfax hospital they gave me a contrast - iohexol at 3:33 PM, they finished a CT scan at 3:35 pm, and the result time was 15:42. Maybe the radiologist Tahvildari Ali M. can’t see any abnormalities in less than 10 minutes. The nurse did a bladder ultrasound on a small device in her hand, and told me I have 440 ml residual urine, but they didn’t put it in my patient portal. I asked to see a urologist at the ER, but they refused. I asked to sign the Advance Directive form, they told me they don’t have a notary and refused. They didn’t give me enough time to read the discharge paper by myself. I asked to see a patient advocate, but they refused. They were rude to me (because I was requested to check my Lactic Acid, to do more blood tests and asked to see a urologist). They didn’t tell me that I can take medicines in an onsite pharmacy in the ER waiting room. They forcingly discharged me and told me I will not be accepted to these facilities again. INOVA Fairfax hospital doctors were cheating with my blood and urine work and CT scan exam to hide my real diagnosis. I am always in pain, I have difficulty urinating. I am tired of living with this pain (my pain getting worse and worse). Ketorolac and Phenazopyridine medicines Inova ER doctors prescribed me don’t work. They discriminated against me by race - Asian, national origin - Uzbekistan, age - senior, sex - female. Let God treat all hospital staff and doctors who used to take care of me the same way they treated me.

Great facility, doctors, surgeons, and nurses. Mother in-law had brain surgery and she is recovering well. But the ICU section has strict rules of visitors. There is one particular worker or nurse that is a terrible person. She takes her job the wrong way and treats it like fort knox. Very rude and trigger happy on the words tresspass and security. I was visiting this morning with a large group of family members. I signed in at 10am. Waited in the family waiting room for my turn to see the patient. I finally go past the double doors. Almost to the room, the worker asks if i signed in, i say yeah i did and wave her off. Kept walking and got to the room. I waved her off because I signed in already and know the rules. So in the room, the patient is sleeping and the worker barges in. Asked me my name again, i say "Ray, and i signed in already whats the problem?" She then yells at my wife for being on her mothers bed. And says she is tresspassing me and getting security. I walk with her to the front desk and my signature isnt there. They started a new page. And misplaced the old sheet. Another worker calms everything down. I wait for the director in the family room. We talk everything through. No tresspass needed and the worker talked to. I finally do my visit without a crazy worker hounding me. I dont know if she got written up or what but I know she was hungry to kick someone out. To try and do that to a family member of the patient for so little is crazy. And I know people give nurses way worse lip and attitude. No threats were made. No pushing or cursing or yelling was done. Hopefully this is a lesson for her. The director was great. But 1 star for this hospital because of this experience. You dont treat the visitors like this. Yeah set rules and policy but dont threaten tresspassing on someone when it includes getting arrested and fines. Its a misdemeanor in Virginia.

Grandfather passed away and two of his gold chains went missing. They were sentimental as his father gave them to him. We had to bury him without it. Our family was very unhappy. This place has some of the rudest nurses and probably underpayed over wroked and short staff. This place has gotten too big for its own good.
