I was thrilled to be accepted into the program with my loyal pup, who barely met the age requirement. But then the pandemic hit, putting my seat on hold until the shutdown ended. I reached out multiple times after Covid and unfortunately, I never received any updates on my seat. I still hold onto hope that this organization will regain its footing and provide the support our veterans deserve, regardless of their political affiliations. It's crucial that we uplift and empower all veterans, and I trust that this organization will rise to the challenge. It s now almost five years since the shutdown.

I Google a lot of information because I can't comprehend what I read and I am a disabled veteran in need of serious help. Home has 60,000 plus dollars in untold damages and I can't get help from anyone.

From the moment you really to the gate you will find a soothing atmosphere. The environment is clean and dog friendly. And if you're looking for a well-run nonprofit for veterans to support you couldn't find a more worthy place.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Each drug rehab in New Mexico offers unique amenities and treatment methods. Common aspects of treatment include group and individual counseling, recreational therapy, medication management, and healthy living. Aftercare is often provided to prevent relapse.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

These people are useless. I am a 74yr old Viet Nam vet and I called them last Friday. I spoke to a receptionist and explained my problem to her. Last year l lost my Service Dog to Cancer. Had him for 12 years. A friend gave me a 2yr old German Shepard cause I was frantic with the loss of Lucky Puppy!! But I am on oxygen now and can no longer take care of her properly, so I called Paws & Stripes to try and find a Vet. to adopt her If possible, rather than take her to Animal Control. The Receptionist told me that an individual by the name of Jessie was in charge of adoptions and she would give that person my information and she would contact me and help me. I don't have much, but was planning to donate $1000. If they found "Lira" a Veteran who could adopt her. But that was a reward for finding a Vet., I made no mention of it as a "bribe", or they might give it to anyone just to get the money. It is now 8 days later, and this person "Jessie" has never made even an initial contact with me for getting any general information about "Lira". So much for helping Vets!! I will bet anything I have that if I had called to make a donation, I would have immediately been transferred to someone who would have accepted the donation. In my opinion, these people have no real interest in helping Vets. They are just another money hungry charity interested in money, more money and more money!! They are a rip off as far as I am concerned, based on my experience with them.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Hi Robert,

First off, our condolences to you for the loss of your dog, as we know how difficult it is to have such an important partner leave your life.

We can understand your frustrations, but want to try and clear up some things so we may help you and others. Especially in the case of adopting/transferring/rehoming a dog, there are some factors that limit the speed at which we can assist others. We work off a quarterly enrollment process, which means taking in dogs too early or too late can have them sitting and waiting for pairing for a long time. We aim to make contact with any potential dog donors within 10 working days. The reason we do this is to assemble a group of upcoming enrollee veterans and a list of their needs, so we can look into what a potential dog could do for working for that vet. We realize this system isn't the quickest, but as we are a non-profit, we want to ensure every cent we spend is used efficiently and to maximum effect for helping a dog/veteran.

We would love to try and correct the miscommunication that has happened and to bring you on site to show you what we do here. Our goal has always been to help veterans from all walks of life, and we are sorry to hear you had a bad experience with us. If there is anyway we can help rectify this and to get Lira in the perfect home, we would love to do so. Please feel free to contact me directly and we can discuss your experience a little more. My email is Dan@PawsAndStripes.org or my office phone is 505-705-3607.

We look forward to speaking to you soon, Robert.
