About The Centers – Airport Road

The Centers provides mental health and addiction recovery services for children, adolescents, and adults in Ocala, Florida. Their programs include crisis stabilization, residential treatment, outpatient treatment, and aftercare services. Dedicated support is available if you have co-occurring conditions.

Their crisis stabilization services help you address immediate, acute needs related to your physical and psychological health. A multi-disciplinary team of providers works with each client to assess their condition and deliver the appropriate treatment. This may include administering medications or providing an array of therapeutic services to de-escalate the situation and ensure clients’ health and well-being.

Once you stabilize, you’ll transition into age-specific residential or outpatient treatment programs. The level of care required will depend on their current needs, goals, and overall recovery progress. Residential treatment allows you to continue addiction treatment in a safe, supervised environment free of triggers and distractions. Outpatient programs allow you to attend treatment onsite but continue living at home. In both, holistic and evidence-based services are available, including individual and group counseling, medication management, vocational training, and case management.

Their aftercare services may include referrals to providers that offer longer-term recovery support through employment, education, transitional housing, 12 Step recovery groups, and similar resources.

They may be in-network with most major insurance plans. Ask your provider to confirm your coverage because out of network benefits can vary.

Baker acted and sent here. The first thing that happens is I see a "counselor", for about ten minutes. She asks me questions that are clearly just written out most of the time, so the first time she asked me something pertaining to my circumstances I asked "is that really written down?" And she responded "It's called counseling." Very rude. Was inpatient and they just toss you in and ignore you. The beds were extremely painful for me to lay on. Awful plastic chairs in the main room. That was it. The people on watch just sat and talked together the whole time and watched hunting vlogs and hunting shows on the television the entire first day I was there. The people that were there the next day were nicer and asked us for movie suggestions, which was better. I liked the nurse with the camo hat. Some of the staff were kind. The doctor, I don't know his name, (not the one with the accent), he was horrible. He said extremely harmful things to me regarding my self harm. He told me I'm a beautiful young woman and I'm "mangling my body". He made me extremely uncomfortable. I will never forget those words he said to me, to someone with a dependency to self harming, those words are fuel to the fire. He was in general extremely rude and spoke to me like he had absolutely no time for me. They told me that THEY switched me to "voluntary" after the 72 hours were up, which was ridiculous to me. I never said I wanted to stay, in fact, I was asking when I could go home. I managed to get out that day, but it took convincing. Just knowing I could potentially be held against my will by this place makes me hesitant to ever consider inpatient as an option in the future when I may need it.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. The Centers' long-term residential program for adults is dedicated to providing holistic care to those seeking addiction recovery. Clients will receive individualized care that focuses on healing the underlying issues of addiction, gaining the tools needed to live a substance free life, establishing a healthy support system, and practical preparation for their future.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
The six bed Detox Unit serves adults who are in need of supervision in a protected environment so they may safely discontinue the use of drugs or alcohol. Clients are under the care of a physician and receive treatment from trained staff including nurses, mental health technicians and social workers. Individuals receive medication appropriate to their presenting problem(s) and are provided with discharge planning to connect them to the next appropriate level of care for recovery.
outpatient iconOutpatient
The Centers specializes in substance abuse treatment for adults and children, addressing underlying issues including familial, trauma, abuse, etc. Outpatient group and individual therapeutic intervention is provided. In the Triage group clients are provided with psychoeducation on substance abuse and dependence, reframing and restructuring skills, and information to acclimate them to the therapeutic process.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

My daughter has been in SMA Healthcare for two and a half years. After she started receiving services she immediately started to improve. We are so grateful for her therapist Kumu, Dr. Goodrow, and Wendy Conley the BNET. They guided us through every single process and supported my daughter all these years. I totally recommend SMA Healthcare to anyone that is looking for mental health services. They are committed to the work that they are doing. Thank you so much SMA Healthcare for being such an important part of my daughter’s success.

Absolutely worst experience ever! My child was admitted to the crisis center and came for a follow appointment. Dr.Long was absolutely unhelpful and just rude everything that was told at crisis center was a lie they don't offer counseling because they do not have licensed therapist there according to Dr long or any kind of counseling but what they do have is medication distribution let's pass pills and not get the mental help and correct c counseling needed! Waste of time beware of this place it's a joke needs to be shut down!!!!

After a meeting with George Long.....I was very disappointed. Very curt and no compassion. He didn't really help us and didn't apologize for being late. I shouldn't feel like I was wrong or in trouble for an update meeting. Really need to work on his personality for working with kids that have mental issues.

This place is a disaster. It’s extremely old. The inpatient wing has uncomfortable chairs for you to sit in all day. The mattresses will make your back hurt real bad. The nurse practitioner Teresa Wooten does not care about you. She has very limited knowledge. She is lazy! she behaves in a manner That she hates her job, rolls her eyes at everything, she is very mean at answering questions. she is a embarrassment to the medical community, mental health is such a complex disease and mental health professionals should have compassion and care towards their patients and listen to their patients, she lacks all of these areas, to be honest I don’t know how this person even got licensed.
