I would NOT recommend Allen Hospital mental health unit to anyone. Treated poorly. Was put in an isolated room and forced medications. Told me if I didn't take meds I would be forced to have a shot. I discussed this with patient advocates and directors, only to be told sorry for your experience. Let's talk about how they violated hippa with a long standing patient there. When I arrived in ER as they determined if I should be inpatient. One of their nurses came up from unit and shared with me about the autistic guy on unit. And with my history of being brutally beat by another autistic guy they wanted me to be aware. Why would anyone tell a patient about another patient. Like they already expected me to just tolerate anything that may be done to me. Nope. That's not how it works. Come to find out. They also falsified my medical records and stated that I was aggressive. That's untrue. I was not in the capacity to be aggressive toward anyone. Suppose it's easier to lie than to hold people accountable for their actions and unprofessionalism. I feel bad for the other patient who had their info disclosed to me. They don't have anyone to advocate for them. But once the proper investigations happen, hopefully someone will advocate for his rights too. Good luck.

Honestly, I m very disappointed with the way that I was treated in the OB office today. The midwife was in my room for maybe a total of four minutes couldn t tell me exactly what my son s heartbeat was and didn t wanna answer any questions like I understand. You have patience upstairs, but if you re going to be in my room and take my appointment and have me on your schedule, you need to pretend like you care for the time that you are in my room And if you don t have time for that, reschedule my appointment. I would like to be treated like a priority when I m in the officeThis is the second review I m leaving on the hospital about the midwives and honestly, I would leave zero stars for them. If I could the midwife Kalia (At this point, I don t care to spell her name, right ) and the labor and delivery nurse McKenzie have horrible bedside manner and are so terribly rude. They talk about you an appointment no it s like you re a child like you re not gonna read the appointment notes They will all but tell you to kick rocks with no shoes on. Not only are they rude and disrespectful they will miss gender you the entire appointment not only to your face, but in the appointment notes as well

I have been attempting to get some itemized billing from the CBO. For 5 days now. No one ever answers the phone. After leaving a number, they say they will call me back. That was 5 days ago. Terrible customer service. My request is time sensitive, so I m quite upset by this run around. Get your care somewhere elseThis is into addition to above review. Their answer was to call the CBO office. Are you crazy? Why would I call them, have to leave a message and then they return the phone call a week later. So just to review- I requested the billing statements 6 days ago. Called again today, they have no record of my request from last Friday. So u request again. They tell me I should them yet today. Why now is it today bateau if 2-4 days. It should only take a couple clicks to send to me. Been since march 3 and today is the 11th. Very very poor care. But they can certainly take my money in a hurry

Accepted Insurance

Allen Hospital Counseling Center and EAP works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients in inpatient rehab reside at the treatment facility for the duration of the program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on unique needs and the program's design. Inpatient treatment typically consists of extensive addiction counseling, which may include CBT, DBT, RBT, and motivational interviewing. Clients may also engage in recovery-focused life skills training and/or evidence-based complementary therapies, such as massage, meditation, and experiential therapy.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs support clients' reintegration into their home, workplace, and community following inpatient and residential treatment. They also promote long-term recovery for clients who may no longer be receiving outpatient treatment. Rehab aftercare services encompass a wide range of modalities and often include various medical, mental health, and social service programs. Case managers and care teams develop clients' customized service plans based on the client's evolving needs and recovery goals.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Iowa is available in many formats. A variety of inpatient and outpatient options provide programs that are tailored to individual needs, making recovery possible for everyone.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

No security guards, that makes me uneasy. After 9/11, hospital security is a MUST. The ICU doctor was dismissive, rude, and extremely uninterested in helping me and my family

I was assisted promptly and with care. The staff from the receptionist to the doctors were kind, knowledgeable and explained everything to me. If you’re ever in a health care emergency, I highly recommend Allen Hospital.

I have used this hospital many times over the years and each time wish I had just driven a few more miles to the local competitor or to Rochester. Now, as a senior, I know if I need medical help, this is the last place I would want an ambulance to take me. Mercy One yes, Unity Point, NO. I have viewed their mistakes as a long term care social work consultant, as a family member and a patient. This is my last choice.

I have over the years developed personal and meaningful relationships with certain staff there. They have changed my life, been kind and caring. Would I at this point recommend Unity Point ER for help and treatment? No, no, no,. If u have a emergency make sure family stays by your side demanding a transfer to an accredited medical facility,. I have gone through unethical, unlawful, and such poor care and lack of humanity at Unity Point. One night they kicked me out for no good reason in 27 degree weather almost killed me, to being misdiagnosed for cancer for not being able evaluated without discrimination. To receiving poor triage evaluation leading to not medically cared for B4 surgery leading to a severe infection that has caused damage to my central nervous system. Now facing another surgery for this neglect. The ER is not a patient focused environment. No they will follow the pay check back to policies and procedures Unity Point Demands. See why such foolishness their culture has created. While thinking "money is power." No that type of power will always corrupt! "Knowledge is power!" This power defends, reports, charges, and will always be more about preventing poor medical care happening to anyone else above their own issues. If u have received this neglect, misdiagnoses, further pain and injury. You are 1...I am only 1. But put 1+1+1+1+1 creates a fist

I've had surgery here twice and both times had such a wonderful experience with all staff involved. I had the same nurse, Barb, both times and she is absolutely wonderful at keeping you feeling calm and distracted while waiting. If you get to have her as your nurse you are one lucky duck!

Waited 5 hours in the ER for multiple to come and go after me and said something just to be told that the order they take care of patients is random and out of their control. Poor care for there patients and absolutely piss pore attitudes they have got the lack of care for people. DO NOT COME HERE

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
We know it’s tough to wait when you don't feel well or are worried about a loved one. Because of patient privacy laws, we’re unable to chat about specific cases publicly. However, as a general matter, every patient is triaged to ensure critically ill patients are seen first. We work hard to see everyone as fast and safely as possible. If your health concern is urgent, but not an emergency, consider one of our walk-in clinics or using MyUnityPoint for virtual care. http://ms.spr.ly/6266oqZIM <br>
