My great grandma has been cared for here the last couple days!! She was in the ER then moved upstairs. Shout out to Rayna/Kylie (ER) and Bella/Rainy (upstairs). I'm oddly confused about all the negative reviews. One of the best experiences I've ever had and has changed my entire outlook on life. I think about this place almost everyday since I've left, and I sincerely miss all of the staff. Every single one of them had a positive impact on me that I won't ever forget. I'm even headed back to school to get my bachelor's degree in a similar field, with the credit to my time spent here. I only ever heard positive things while I was there and a lot of people coming in from the outside to volunteer their time for meetings .. the majority of them give a lot of credit to Horizons for helping them as well. My Fiance is going to be there today, and I was really worried about it. I am in treatment as well in another City. We are both doing this on our own will, but after reading these reviews I fell better. I truly believe that treatment is exactly what you put into it and how much you want to get out of it. So far the staff over the phone has been very helpful to him.

I was seen at St Luke’s Hospital by attending physician Dr David Dierks for nausea related to my right knee replacement. I found Dr Dierks to be very professional and compassionate and I felt very well taken care of by all the staff there, including Brenda who was the admissions nurse and Lance who also saved me yet another visit the following day. It’s so comforting to know that when it is needed to go to the ED, that St Luke’s is there to help and make you feel comfortable and confident that you will be well taken care of.

If it wasn't for this clinic and all the wonderful people there, my life would be in shambles. If it wasn't for Medicaid, I could never afford daily doses and if it wasn't for The Way Shuttle picking me up six days a week for almost 3 years straight, I wouldn't be where I am today. I’m so thankful for ASAC. After wasting 5 weeks at St. Luke’s Chemical Dependency Center (full review on that experience separately), I came here feeling frustrated and discouraged. I explained everything I had gone through, and ASAC immediately made me feel heard and understood.
They were far more knowledgeable about my case and didn’t judge me when my marijuana levels were slightly elevated—even after over a month of quitting—because they actually understood that’s normal. The counselors here are compassionate, supportive, and truly know what they’re doing.
If you’re looking for real help, don’t waste your time and money at St. Luke’s. Go to ASAC instead. They’ll actually help you, rather than tear you down!

This place is what you make it. You can't blame the facility for those who aren't ready to get help and find loopholes by bringing in contraband. Typically, those of whom not coming in with the right mindset are those who are gonna leave bad reviews. But I promise. This is the best program in the state of Iowa. Of course there are things that could use a little more attention in order to make people's stay, less stressful. Un-certified staff can sometimes make bad decisions or push people away..but the clinical team is great. I highly suggest anyone to disregard any negative feedback given on these reviews because there was some type of insubordination on their behalf that as a result..left them with an unsatisfactory comment. For anyone reading this. Don't waste your time coming here if you aren't ready to change. If you're just coming bc you're being forced to. You'll interfere with those who are actually trying to change and not only that..you'll be wasting resources someone really needs and you'll leave a had review because you're all butt hurt about your behavior not being tolerated. Believe me, they give you A TON of leeway...but they can tell when they're getting used. Great facility, saved my life, all the counselors are good people. And remember. It is what you make it.

I was seen at St Luke’s Hospital by attending physician Dr David Dierks for nausea related to my right knee replacement. I found Dr Dierks to be very professional and compassionate and I felt very well taken care of by all the staff there, including Brenda who was the admissions nurse and Lance who also saved me yet another visit the following day. It’s so comforting to know that when it is needed to go to the ED, that St Luke’s is there to help and make you feel comfortable and confident that you will be well taken care of.

I was so blessed and beyond grateful to be able to go through The Heart of Iowa! Everyone from the patient support staff, to the counselors, the director, child care providers, and all the amazing people who came and taught groups helped me tremendously!
