About Dynamic Living Counseling

Dynamic Living Counseling (DLC) in Phoenix, Arizona is an outpatient behavioral health clinic that provides treatment for adults seeking help for substance use disorder as well as anger management, domestic violence and DUI offenses.

Their substance use disorder programs offer services ranging from court ordered assessments to drug and alcohol education to outpatient treatment including intensive outpatient treatment, individual counseling and relapse prevention.

Programs for DUI Offenses

Their substance abuse education program meets the Arizona Level 2 DUI requirements, for minor offenses. You’ll learn about the impact alcohol and substances have on health and family, what addiction looks like, how to get the appropriate treatment and the legal and social consequences of substance abuse.

At DLC their outpatient substance abuse program includes individualized treatment plans developed by their addiction specialists and group counseling that focus on substance abuse. These programs generally require between 36 to 56 hours of class time. The intensive outpatient program is for individuals who have had multiple alcohol or drug related offenses or those who have alcohol or substance use disorder. This program meets twice per week with 56-100+ hours of treatment.

DLC’s relapse prevention and aftercare program helps individuals recognize triggers, learn positive coping mechanisms and create a plan that supports long term recovery. You’ll attend at least 10 sessions for completion.

Dynamic Living Counseling is licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS). They accept many commercial insurances including Blue Cross Blue Shield and American Indian Health Plan. For individuals who are court ordered, they are partnered with Arizona Interlock.

Money Scheme! Went here for REVOCATION PACKET. They charged 180$. Then denied it & said I could reapply again for an additional 100$. Nancy their supposed counselor is nothing but a scam artist. If you choose this place & pay them money you deserve what you get. Avoid & find some other company to help you. This place is milking desperate people for money. No matter if you are sober or not. They have their schemes to fail you & require you to pay more money because they know you are desperate. This is an awful company. You have been warned. There are many companies out there that can truly help you. Search google. Do not waste money w/ these people they are not here to help or counsel.

I went to this place because I needed a Revocation application for a DUI I had gotten 4 years ago. Nancy was my interviewer and she asked me all of the usual questions etc. then she informed me I had to do a UA that day which I complied with. She asked if I took medication I do I have an eating suppressant prescribed to me by my doctor, she told me I would need a dr note, I advised her I have my copy of the prescription that I give to pharmacy but being holidays my dr is out of town. Nancy then said well they can t hold the file longer than a week so I might want to go have another company that doesn t require that do this screening. Frustrated I went the next day and had another company do it and submit it. Not only did Nancy submit a knowingly incomplete screening to the mvd but in the copy she sent me she got the facts of my screening completely wrong and submitted those. Now I have to hope the mvd let s me get my liscence and not have to cut thru a bunch of red tape and go thru an entire appeal process. When I called numerous times I was told they would call me back yet no one has and I keep leaving messages. This was a horrible experience and I hope no one ever puts these type of important decisions on their hands again.

Accepted Insurance

Dynamic Living Counseling works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Arizona is the process of treating individuals who are dependent on a particular addictive drug. Because addiction is complex, this treatment typically includes a variety of interventions that address the many physical and emotional issues involved.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

If your thinking about giving this place your business, dont! These people are incompetent and will not do what you need them to do properly. Especially Nancy harlow. There a joke! All they want is your money. I highly recommend not going to any dynamic living office's. They treat you like your a criminal and a drug addict. Do not go there.

I gave one star only because I can't rate lower. This place is terrible. The classes/meetings are chaos. They have the worst book keeping. After I finished my class they told me they owed me money.. They do, but not because I overpaid. I paid $2700 dollars for an interlock ignition in my vehicle for 9 months that I would never have needed had they sent my information to the MVD like I requested. Their classes won't benefit you at all. If you ask them why they will tell you it's your fault. It's worth paying more for some real professionals.

Wish there was more details/info b4 my apt. about what I was to expect during revocation process..I never was told I was going to have to be ready to ua DURING the process. I Actually went to the bathroom while I was filling out my paperwork b4 my interview :/.. Also if I would have known tasc was 4o bucks extra I wouldn't have agreed to go there instead.....I was told to be to my apt..15mins early and to have my packet notarized.that's it!!. u should actually @ least be there half hr early for paperwork.... I felt like the interview was rushed which is fine ..but rushing somebody through a interview is one thing.. rushing somebody to pee however isnt cool.. Also I wasn't even offered or able to hang out there until I was ready to Urinate... Tasc seemed fine until the travel warnings came up that night as well as the 4o bucks on top of the 145 I paid already.. she wasn't able to tell me how much tasc would cost b4 I left....mainly wish I would have known about these things prior when I set up my apt ..what to bring and what to expect etc....to future customers/ clients be ready for a drug test during ur interview... may seem odd but some people just can't pee on demand... As well as having 4o more dollars for the testing @ tasc would have been nice to know as well... I really wished I would have read the reviews before spending my money here and putting my driving future in the hands of people who seemed to not have all the info...now I wait uneasily ...nothing to assure me that I passed or didn't without them having a ua sample... And no options or advice after I arrived too late too tasc...Research ur options because I know there are better more informed places you can go for the same cost...
