Chris 3 months ago This place saved my life. Literally. In around December of 2024 I was hospitalized here for severe suicidal tendencies. I’m not going to get too into it, but I’ve had mental health problems my entire life and a few things happened that year that pushed it pass the point that I could handle. I was here for 45 days, where I was on a 1 on 1 most of that time for impulsive self harming behaviors. I received ECT treatment during this time and it’s like it just completely reset my whole system. I lost a majority of my memories and had to relearn a bunch of things which was unfortunate, but I felt like an entirely new person. I can hold a job, I feel confident in myself, I can build new relationships, I’m going to college because I’ve finally found a passion in life that I want to pursue, and I don’t have suicidal tendencies anymore—not like I did before. Not only did the ECT help tremendously, but being in PHP and IOP afterwards helped me find structure after the reset, and it helped me gain coping skills that I didn’t have before. I was able to understand what I was feeling and now when I do have SI, it’s like a flashing thought because I can use the coping skills I learned to realize that it’s not an option. I had been on so many different meds, done so many different treatments, seen so many different doctors trying to get better, and I had truly lost hope. Front desk staff was so kind, I was greeted by a young girl, she was new but you could tell she's in the right field. Very kind and compassionate and made me feel welcome! Candy in adult intake is a treasure. She made sure I felt comfortable and safe throughout the entire appointment. Intakes for establishing care can be very lengthy and repetitive, but she kept the energy bright and bubbly the entire time. She played my favorite music to help make me feel comfortable and placed no judgment when I opened up about my issues. We laughed, and she encouraged me multiple times throughout my appointment. They were able to explain any questions or concerns, as well as provide me plenty of resources should I need them. I didn't have any issues getting in their books either!!! This place is clean, accepting, and welcoming. I'm very excited to continue my care here to assist with my recovery! I'll never for get the first time. I was trying to Dilute my urine So I had drinking about 15 or 16 water bottles not knowing that water is a natural laxative and when I went into task they told me that I was not allowed to poop in there . And considering the all of my poop was watery and chunky I found myself in quite a pickle. John was watching the window that day-and he looked at me and he said don't do it. And I said I can't hold it. And John said don't do it. And I said then I'm gonna s* all-over myself. And John said don't f** do it . So I tried to make it to the trash can and John was yelling know the whole-time. So I ended up s***** on the floor in the trash can and myself .But I will say that the staff was very helpful they cleaned-up the mess right away-and John told me to never come-back there ever again .And we have been friends ever since .Looking back on it now I feel like me and John would never guess we'd still be here 10 or 11 years later .Me and John are like peas and carrots .Sincerely dooky . M 1 year ago I only heard bad things about CBI but every employee at the belleview location treated me like the King I Am. I maintain the best outlook on life no matter where I go, no matter what hardships I'm facing, therefore I receive the best service possible. Your experience reflects who the type of person you are internally and your attitude towards others externally. Even if you are struggling with addiction, you are ultimately responsible for your relapses and trouble that you cause, nobody else. Take accountability for your own actions and stop blaming others if you cannot stay clean - nobody on this earth is required to change your adult diapers. Stop being lazy, and if CBI didn't help you then I guarantee it was because you had a horrible, demanding, disrespectful, impatient attitude 😉. The belleview location in Mesa has a pretty decent staff, I was in the some of the roughest circumstances a person could possibly be in and I still kept a positive outlook and remained respectful towards everyone. If you cannot stay clean then go to salvation army for 6 months because you obviously need it and you will build a foundation of sobriety that will last a lifetime if you allow it to. You are responsible for staying clean, nobody forced you to take drugs. I will agree that the recliners should be replaced with beds or couches, I didn't get the best sleep at CBI. Additionally, they need to change rule that you cannot charge your phone because people need their phones charged so when they get out they aren't stranded without communication - this isn't 1980 when you could go use a payphone or nearby business phone. There is no acceptable reasoning why somebody cannot have their phones charged while they are in detox or otherwise. Also on the "presenting issues" section of my discharge paperwork it says that i declined to meet with PSS for treatment options and that I declined to provide address information which is completely incorrect information and untrue. These are a few things that CBI needs to improve on that I experienced. Other than that, Best wishes to all.
