About Fairmount Behavioral Health System

Medical detox takes place at their 21 bed modern detox unit. It involves assessment, stabilization and 24/7 monitoring by trained physicians. These experts may administer medication if it’s part of your individualized treatment plan. This ensures safe and comfortable withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines or opiate dependency. Detox removes addiction related toxins from your body in preparation for the main therapy.

After detox you can continue your recovery journey with their inpatient care. This program will help you develop sufficient knowledge and motivation to embrace recovery. They offer gender specific care with a 26 bed men’s unit and 19 bed women’s unit. Each unit is well equipped to satisfy the separate but unique needs of men and women in recovery. The program involves intense therapy with round the clock support from their recovery experts. You’ll have access to psychiatrists for medication needs and evaluation vital in treating dual diagnosis conditions.

Treatment blends the 12 Step model with proven therapeutic practices like cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. This is delivered in a group setting and is very effective in addressing dual diagnosis disorders as well. The group session focuses on relapse prevention, anger/stress management and healthy living. The groups are gender specific, which allows for a more tailored and comfortable environment for participants. Psychoeducation service is provided to help you fight the stigma associated with chemical dependency.

You’ll also benefit from the onsite daily AA, NA and CA peer support meetings. Other services include regular nursing assessment/physical education and family education services. The latter fosters family involvement by helping your family understand how your addiction affects everyone and how they can support your recovery. Aftercare services may involve connection to a community support system for ongoing care.

I was here for 5 days or so and made a lot of friends, the food was really good and we could go outside on Thursdays. I wish the “porch” was a little bigger and I had to wackiest roommate who sang the BeeGees all damn day, it was annoying asl but this place was pretty lax I just got a bit stir crazy at times but I’m sure that’s with any hospital. Nurse Chanel was very sweet as well!

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Inpatient rehab provides clients with an opportunity to focus solely on their sobriety away from the stressors of the home and workplace. Clients receive housing, food, and intensive clinical supervision. They also typically engage in multiple addiction counseling sessions each week, including daily individual, group, and/or family sessions. Most programs also prioritize recovery-focused life skills training, including courses in relapse prevention. Many facilities offer evidence-based holistic therapies, such as yoga and meditation.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Clients receiving services from a rehab aftercare program are usually stable and in the maintenance phase of recovery, having completed detox and/or intensive inpatient treatment. Rehab aftercare services can vary widely based on clients' individual and evolving needs, but often include peer coaching, relapse prevention support, 12 step program induction, and medical, mental health, and social service referrals. Individual care plans are typically developed by the client in partnership with their case manager and care team.

12-step icon12-Step

12 step programs prioritize the recovery journey as a life-long process based on personal spiritual growth and ongoing peer support. Regular attendance at 12 step meetings, which are held multiple times each day in most communities, is expected. Participants also receive one-on-one mentoring by a self-selected peer sponsor. The 12 steps are designed to encourage participants' self-compassion, awareness, acceptance, and accountability. Dedicated programs for specialized groups, including seniors, teens, and families, are common.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services bring extensive experience to the planning and conducting of drug interventions in Pennsylvania. These experts can facilitate interventions in a sensitive manner that encourages positive outcomes. The goal of the intervention is to educate the individual about addiction and the consequences of their substance use and encourage them to get the treatment they need. Interventions can be effective with all types of drugs and alcohol addiction.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

Because the severity of withdrawal symptoms can fluctuate, constant monitoring under 24-hour clinical care in Pennsylvania is recommended for early recovery. As you undergo detox, medical staff will supervise your health and ensure severe symptoms do not develop or threaten your life. Professional counselors will also be available to treat mental and emotional health needs.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Pennsylvania is devoted to the treatment of addiction. Levels of care, treatment methods, and settings differ, but the aim of each program is to end drug dependency and empower participants to achieve long-term recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical behavior therapy in Pennsylvania is an evidence based technique that involves group therapy, individual therapy, and phone coaching. Group sessions focus on learning behavioral skills. Individual therapy gives you the opportunity to apply what you're learning to your personal situations. Phone coaching allows you to call your therapist during the week for help with challenging situations.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational interviewing in Pennsylvania gives you the opportunity to share your perspective and explore your ideas and motivation for change. Your therapist will walk you through the four steps of engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning to empower you to make any desired changes in your life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Couples therapy in Pennsylvania is typically short term treatment that focuses on building skills that lead to positive long term relationship changes. Sessions with the therapist may occur both jointly and individually.

Family therapy teaches individual family members in Pennsylvania the benefits of collectively combating addiction. Therapists help individual members establish healthy boundaries between themselves and their loved one who is struggling with addiction. This helps improve emotional support systems and creates a bond so families work together to sustain long term recovery.

Life skills are the mental and social skills that are necessary to navigate day to day life. Addiction diminishes or eliminates these skills, so they must be relearned and practiced during drug rehab treatment in Pennsylvania.

The goal of nutrition therapy is to help you understand how your diet affects your overall health. It teaches you healthy eating habits, which speed up your recovery and give you the nutrients you need for long term physical and mental health.

Don't come here if you have another option. The staff is judgemental and they don't offer you any kind of real help. They literally don't care about their patients. I would give them zero stars if I could.

I stayed here im the adolescent girls unit after an attempt a few years ago. This place is DISGUSTING. Hair, dirt, stains everywhere. We never left the unit to go outside or to meals. Our food was always cold and low key foul. I was left in pain after an overdose I complained about severe chest pain and was told to go to sleep. I got violently assaulted multiple time by another patient who never got in trouble. I could go on. NEVER send your child, loved one or yourself to this hospital unless you want to come out traumatized.

This place was tough . Immediately when I entered the building it was filthy, sadly the rest of the building was that way as well. The food wasn't good. The majority of the staff would put down patients as if we weren't dealing with enough. You try to get help and get crapped on. The techs would talk about patients constantly and put personal business out there. Other techs would show favoritism towards certain patients and ignore others that really needed help. Idc how long someone has been there you share the TV and you share the music you keep it fair. When id ask certain people for toiletries to cleanse myself I was greeted with disrespect and seem to be an inconvenience to the gossip circle. The other patients helped me more than the people that get paid to care for us. The younger women were so unprofessional yelling at patients having an episode Swearing and talking about fighting ppl and on the phone acting ratchet like they were on a sidewalk in south Philly instead of a behavioral health facility providing care for patients. With that being said there were some good folks that were kind and genuine. Shout-out to Jim,Kai, Emily ,saboor. And the sweet black lady in the med booth I'm sorry I forgot your name but you were wonderful . Thank you for actually giving a damn and helping me and others through a tough time🙏

Just left there on Saturday!!! And I promised I would write a review which is well deserved…. Erin, Alyah , Sara , Jill,, Toni ,and Brie ..you all deserve the best rating for I saw the genuine efforts and the hard work you put into making your patients feel comfortable, safe, and hopeful. They literally pulled me out of a dark place and gave me the hope and confidence to keep on going with the coping skills I learned and seeing things in a different perspective. The only reason why I didn’t put a five was bc if the food . However … that was the least of my problems or concerns. I really can’t say enough about this place . Life changing.❤️❤️❤️

They had the wrong address for us. We corrected it twice. In person verbally, and on the phone when a lady called about payment. We told her we didn't get a bill, she updated our address and still we have not received a bill. Neither did she offer any details about what we owe. That was almost a year ago. If I knew it would be so much trouble then I would have asked for all the details over the phone. For the last 8 months we have bee trying to get them to send the bill. How are we suppose to pay without a bill? I spoke to Rachel in the billing department three times and each time she said she needed to print the bill first and then she could email it to me. The challenge was that it took a long time to print (I don't understand it at all). But that I should expect an email in a few hours. Each time we thought we would get the bill via email: nothing. It has been months since the last time we got anyone on the phone in billing or finance, whatever the department is, about this. The phone just goes to voicemail for months now. Leaving a message doesn't make a difference either. No one calls back. I check my voicemail. I check my calls. Like what is going on? I just want to pay the bill! It's coming up on a year since we were contacted but we can't get in contact with anyone to resolve this! Writing this review is my second last resort. I have one other thing to try. After that I have no clue what to do if that doesn't work! Also, please don't ask me to use the contact form. I did that months ago and nobody contacted me. I didn't even get an email confirmation message with a copy of my message like contact forms are supposed to work. I just don't understand any of this. I just want to pay the bill and move on with my life. Can you guys respond and tell me who I can call or see about this?
