About Forward Recovery

Forward Recovery in Los Angeles, California, treats substance abuse and mental health conditions for adults of all ages. They provide intensive outpatient services at this location, but they also have an inpatient program at their Roxbury Drive location if you need a more structured setting. Inpatient services are designed with more structure so you can focus on getting well without distractions

Their intensive outpatient program is the perfect option for those who don’t need the same structure and full-time support residential treatment offers. You’ll attend intensive therapy sessions where you work on relapse prevention techniques and develop healthy coping skills with a program that allows you the freedom to attend school or work. During their IOP service, you’ll live in a luxurious sober living home that provides a safe space free of substance triggers.

IOP helps you gain more independence while learning to handle stressful situations. You’ll also learn methods that work to reduce cravings and help you maintain recovery. They recommend that if you plan to use the outpatient program, you have a secure home environment. That’s most helpful for developing a safe, supportive network of family and friends while you go through the recovery process.

Aftercare is available to provide you with continued support after treatment. This service offers ongoing recovery opportunities to keep you engaged with sobriety while being treated like family.

This is a wonderful facility for detox and rehab. They are compassionate, accommodating, friendly, and professional. I felt truly cared for in a way that is very uncommon in the health care industry at large. I highly recommend them for your addiction and mental health needs! I would 100% go back if I ever needed to, but thanks to their hard work, I haven t needed to!I ll also add that their facilities are luxurious. We had every creature comfort the entire stay. A perfect place to hide away while you get your head back in order . They do a great job at discharge planning as well so that you aren t just thrown out into the world without a solid transition plan.

Accepted Insurance

Forward Recovery works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

My experience at this rehab was nothing short of incredible, and it’s honestly difficult to put into words just how much this place has changed my life. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I felt a sense of warmth, acceptance, and genuine care that I hadn’t experienced at any other treatment facility. What makes this rehab stand out isn’t just the quality of the programs or the beauty of the facility—it’s the people. The staff here are nothing short of amazing, and they are the heart and soul of this place. Each staff member made it a point to build a personal connection with me, and that made all the difference. Whether it was the techs, case managers, or even the administrative staff, everyone treated me with respect, kindness, and understanding. They weren’t just doing their jobs—they were truly invested in my well-being and recovery. I never once felt like I was just another patient; instead, I felt like I was part of a family that was rooting for my success every step of the way. The group therapy sessions were a major highlight of my experience. I’ve been to other rehabs in the past, but the groups here were on another level. The facilitators were incredibly skilled at creating a safe and supportive environment where I could open up about things I had never felt comfortable discussing before. The insights I gained during those sessions were profound, and the skills I learned have already proven to be invaluable in my daily life. These groups weren’t just about talking—they were about real, lasting growth. The individualized approach to my treatment was another aspect that really stood out to me. Every element of the program was tailored to fit my needs, and the staff were constantly checking in with me to make sure I was getting the most out of my experience. I never felt like I was being put into a one-size-fits-all program, which made my progress feel so much more personal and meaningful. What really sets this rehab apart, though, is the atmosphere. There’s a sense of peace and positivity here that’s hard to describe, but it’s palpable the moment you arrive. The facility itself is beautiful, and the surroundings provide a calming backdrop for healing. Whether I was in a session, relaxing in a communal space, or spending quiet time reflecting, I always felt at ease and focused on my recovery. By the time I left, I felt transformed—emotionally, mentally, and physically. I walked out of those doors with a renewed sense of hope, strength, and determination. This was, without a doubt, the best rehab experience I’ve ever had, and I’m so grateful for everything this place and its people have done for me. If you’re looking for a rehab where the staff genuinely care, where the programs are tailored to your specific needs, and where you can truly heal and grow, look no further. I couldn’t recommend this place more highly. It changed my life, and I’m confident it can do the same for anyone who walks through its doors.

Forward is one of a kind. Sadly, I’ve been to several other programs and when I found Forward Recovery, I was blown away by the facilities, the professionalism and heart-felt care I received. It can be easy to feel lost in the crowd at some treatment centers, but I will always feel like family with the staff and residents I met there despite being hundreds of miles away. If you’re looking for something special in your sobriety journey, look no farther.
