About IDEA – West 29th Avenue

IDEA was an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment facility for adolescents and adults in Denver, Colorado. This location is now closed but they used to offer many court-ordered services such as driving under the influence education and testing as well as monitored sobriety. Their programs seem to have been available in English and Spanish.

What made them unique was that many of their services were aimed at adolescents. They had programs for minors in possession and underage driving under the influence. Their addiction focus was supplemented with life skills that they could carry with them into adulthood.

For adults, their substance use disorder treatment was offered on a part time basis. You could get a plan for your recovery and learn how to prevent relapsing. They used proven therapy methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy and pathways to self-discovery and change for criminal conduct.

For those who’ve experienced trauma, they made use of the Seeking Safety program. Other types of therapy included moral reconnation therapy and interlock enhancement counseling.

Denver’s year-round sunshine was helpful for IDEA clients as they could take advantage of the great weather. Sunny weather is a natural mood booster and lends itself to many different outdoor activities.

Their monitored sobriety tests covered all the bases. They used urinalysis, breathalyzer tests, Antabuse, swabs and hair tests. Hair tests are especially effective for picking up on long term drug usage, even as long as 90 days. Urinalysis typically only detects substances within two or three days of usage.

While this location is closed, they have other centers across Colorado that can help you, including one in Denver.

the counselors here are incompetent at their jobs, you have to constantly remind them to communicate with probation officers and they still don t. The front desk staff are genuinely nice and good at customer service. If you re looking for somewhere with professional counselors seek treatment somewhere else.

Thought this place was awesome when Peggy was here. Went in again and had a horrible experience where I left incredibly upset. I was told I did not write down the right type of goals for their program to get in. When I asked if we (meaning me and the intake woman in the room asking me questions) could write something else, she accused me of trying to have her write it for me? I wasn t trying to have her write it for me but I thought we were working through it together guess not. I also talked about my experience which was asked of me and she told me that I wasn t going to pass class if I didn t say and do the right things. Like aren t you supposed to HELP me get the correct understanding/education of things? Why is my entry dependent on what Im writing down for treatment goals BEFORE treatment? If I already knew the goals and issues, why would I be going through a treatment to teach me these things? If you re looking for people who know their stuff and take mental health seriously- go literally anywhere but here.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Professional services are often necessary to recover from addiction. Drug rehab in Colorado provides the expert services needed to address the complex issues of addiction and help individuals start their recovery journey.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

They keep saying I have no vouchers when multiple sources tell me I do. I think they are just trying to get money by billing me extra. I'm not the only one who is noticing this. Just 3 people from class have noticed

NANCY is horrible!!! Do not go here. They have other options for court ordered classes. She lied to me and told me to come in at 9am, then when I showed up she said she never said that. Was extremely rude and unprofessional and has delayed treatment because of her personal feelings towards me. I asked to speak to a manager and she said there wasn’t one. I said let me speak to someone above you because it’s not right you’re denying me treatment for unprofessional reasons. I am not the first nor the last person to have this same complaint with her. She told me anyone above her was out of town and she wouldn’t give me any names or even her own information. Said her supervisor did not have a number for contact either. It’s sad that they have people like this running treatment centers to help people. All of the other staff have always been very friendly. If Nancy didn’t work here, I would have loved to attend classes here. I will go elsewhere where they are actually interested in helping people. Would you want someone who treats you in such a way to control what happens with your future, or would you rather have someone who was genuine and compassionate who you knew wanted to see you succeed. I was really excited to start these classes and now I am so disappointed. Listen to the reviews and save yourself the trouble and cost and go somewhere else where you won’t have to be put down and treated horribly. I can’t believe how I was treated.
