I truly couldn’t say a negative thing about Sandstone Care in Denver; they are amazing. I was in one of the lowest points of my life when I reached out to Sandstone admissions and even then, I received the best care right off the bat. My admissions coordinator, (Kevin Clark) was incredibly helpful and informative and even mentioned some of his own story to make me feel more comfortable and confident in starting this new journey in my life. I started the program in their PHP group and I first noticed that it felt different from the other treatment facilities I had ever been to. I felt comfortable, accepted, and safe. It was a new, but warm feeling. In the PHP group, I learned several /new/ ways of looking at the different issues I was going through. It didn’t feel like anyone was blaming me, but more like “these are things I am struggling with; okay, what can I do to make them feel less awful?” This is something that made Sandstone different for me - they actually helped me, as the individual, build new foundations and discover my values in life. After I finished up their PHP program, I stepped down to IOP and from there, I felt like a new person. I noticed that my self-esteem was growing and that when I was going through my lower moments of time, I could actually recognize what was happening and control the situation. Now this was huge considering I have been struggling with Anxiety/Major Depressive disorder since 5th grade. I could not figure out the words to describe the weight lifted off of my chest after completing my time at Sandstone Care. For anyone considering treatment for yourself or a loved one here, I would seriously recommend it. I was hesitant at first because of the question, “what if it’s just like every other mental health facility?” It’s not and I will die on that hill. During my time at Sandstone, I worked closely with the lead therapist, Sam, the program director, Mike, and the family therapist, Elliot. Each of these individuals made such a huge impact on my mental health journey and I am just so grateful for them. They really do make a difference.

This is the best place for whatever you have going on in your life. I am on supervision and use them for my classes, one on ones, and testing. The staff is super nice and helpful. They go above and beyond with extra case management services and even helped with my resume. They will know you by first name and stay in touch when it counts. They have a bunch of online sessions available too if you can’t drive or need to meet with someone remotely. Don’t waste your time anywhere else.

This place is the best thing since Color Television! 😁 Seriously though, this place in and of itself.. was a contributing factor to which saved my life in the sense that when I knew ‘I was done’.. I had the BEST support & amazing championing from some amazing people sharing a common goal of maintaining their sobriety while putting their focus on their physical wellbeing and self esteem in their bodies and minds rather than just the ‘mumbo-jumbo’ of traditional, socially-conditioned methods of recovery in addiction and, having said being championed; I’d like to pay a respectable nod to a specific person, Carson.. whom by all accounts went out of the ordinary to see me thru a rather unorthodox necessity for assistance at a time when I was on the right path, yet.. just simply needed a hand-up and a simple ‘break’ and was obliged to help make a difference in my path and how I launched into my life of recovery and fitness! As a result of continuity and perseverance in this said path.. I now have the privilege and utmost pleasure of saying I’m a volunteer & will be soon be of service to the community within, and look forward to continuing my journey in my own recovery and the journey of others in their journey of growth and success within their lives as they pursue their fitness goals and aspirations as well! In July 2025, I started IOP at DWR which was the best decision I ever made. Their staff are supportive and extremely knowledgeable; special shoutout to Rachel, Amanda, and Crystal for all of their endless support!
During IOP, I relapsed more than once and was never treated differently because of it. Instead of criticizing my decisions, DWR provided me with the support and safe space to work through my relapses while still holding me accountable.
I have now been sober just over one year and even though I am the one who makes the decision to continue my sobriety everyday, I owe DWR for giving me the tools and confidence to do so. Thank you DWR for saving my life when I had almost given up and helping me create a life worth living.

I had my first surgery at AdventHealth Porter this week and it was a positive experience. All of the medical team made sure I was taken care of and answered all my questions. I had the benefit of being here in 2023 I ended up leaving against their advice however it was part of my recovery journey. I wish I would have stayed even though I am in a great sober living now I will always remember the people here who changed my life even when I lashed out in fear and fled they loved me. I lived here back in about 2021-22 famously in the sprout house, moved around there twice- made good friends and adhered to a lot of rules. Their system for medication might be a bit flawed, and they are located in- not always the safest of places, but- it works. And it is a higher lockdown group home than just a typical one.

I love the st. Francis center, I were introduced to them more than 2 years ago and had found they were a really good place to freshen up and go back outside, there is storage and a clothing room if you need and they also allow chores for those who are looking to shop in the clothing closet 🚾. Denver Cares staff work hard to insure patients safety and attentive to each person's needs when it came to detox treatment. Staff were on hand 24/7 to ensure the patient was safe. Counselors were available to help determining what programs fit the individual after detox. I would highly recommend anyone needing help with addiction to seek Professional treatment. It saved my life and I'm very thankful.

This clinic has been an absolutely integral in my mental health over the past 8 years. Barriers to care, primarily socioeconomic, had kept me from seeking and maintaining regular help for a long time. MHCD/WellPower has given me tools and resources I truly never thought possible and helped me clear those barriers and hurdles to finally be able to care for my mental health. Every psychiatrist, therapist, nurse, staff and pharmacist has been incredibly helpful and supportive when I’ve been both stable and in crisis. Scheduling appointments and contacting certain departments can sometimes be difficult and require patience, as they serve such a huge patient population. However, that “inconvenience” is well worth knowing that everyone there is on your team. Thank you WellPower for breaking down those barriers and for creating a safe space to get the help I thought I couldn’t get.

There are some clinicians that work here who have a genuine interest in seeing you heal and when you are a victim of domestic violence and stalking you need all the resources you can get. Thank goodness for Paola Atehortua, she is one of the best case managers I have ever seen and extremely professional and goes out of her way to help her patients succeed. Paola boasts a motherly and nurturing attitude in her care for her patients and is one of the best clinicians I have seen in operation and gives Wellpower the notoriety of being one of the best mental health centers in Denver. Truly grateful that people like Paola still exist.

This is the best place for whatever you have going on in your life. I am on supervision and use them for my classes, one on ones, and testing. The staff is super nice and helpful. They go above and beyond with extra case management services and even helped with my resume. They will know you by first name and stay in touch when it counts. They have a bunch of online sessions available too if you can’t drive or need to meet with someone remotely. Don’t waste your time anywhere else.
