HANDICAP PEOPLE AND LOVED ONES PLEASE READIF YOURE LOOKING FOR A SAFE PLACE THAT DOESNT DISCRIMINATE DO NOT COME HERE!If I could give it zero stars I would. I am in a wheelchair. When I came here they said it was 100% handicap accessible. I m not sure what they think handicap accessible means. The laundry is downstairs, the multiple mandatory AA meetings a week are downstairs, in phase 1 they only take you off campus for 1 meeting and you have to go to 3 meetings a week, so I was being carried downstairs twice a week BY CLIENTS. Which is 1 dangerous for both clients and is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Luckily, for all parties sake, that didn t happen. Also, IT SHOULDNT BE THEIR JOB! It should be the staff helping when they re the ones that said they would. Plus they should ve moved them upstairs when they said it was handicap assessable or just not say that their program is when the only thing about their program that is handicap accessible is they have a ramp to the main house so you can get to meds and the kitchen and they have 1 handicap accessible bedroom and 1 handicap accessible shower. Not the mandatory meetings, the client fridges, or buckets for client food, the laundry (which is an essential need), I also couldn t get drinkable water unless it was from the bathroom faucet (unless a client went downstairs to get it for me) Also during my first, and only week here I was harassed and discriminated against for being handicapped and needing to ask for help reaching for things, etc. and laughed at. Then I was threatened by a client to be punched in the face and to fight me, when I clearly can t defend myself and when brought to staff they did absolutely nothing about it.. they say they have a zero tolerance policy, which means she should have been kicked out. She wasn t. Instead I was. Because the program wasn t working for me because it wasn t accessible and they were extremely discriminatory. Anyway, this complaint review has already taken up more of my time typing than his program deserves. This program shouldn t accept handicap clients as it is NOT a handicap accessible rehab facility. A law suit will be coming your way soon. Edit after their response comment:staff were the ones who unlocked the back door and watched them carry me down. They said that staircase by the back kitchen was safer because it was less narrow with less people running by . Still not safe, but YOUR staff did ask these clients to carry me and YOUR staff did unlock the door to do so and lock it afterwards. and I have witness statements. Makes sense , try to cover your tracks. Although, I have multiple eye witnesses and a person who s already heard a few statements of how bad it was for me there and how it didn t make sense why I was treated that bad by this center. Why meetings, laundry, client food, client drinking water, etc we re all held in a basement, far out of reach for someone wheelchair bound, so definitely NOT accessible to ALL clients, as you claim. Also my behavior was great, I passed room checks and full partook/participated in AND was on time to every group/class, despite these huge barriers for me. Also an investigation DID take place and there were witnesses to me being threatened physically and it states in your guys handbook you have a zero tolerance policy to threats of violence and discrimination. That is obviously not true. A staff member even told me that the person who threatened MY safety and well being would be kicked out if there was a witness. I know that the client who threatened me STILL resides at this treatment Facility AND I got kicked out for threatening to sue for discrimination. The witness who saw her threaten me was even confused and also ended up leaving this facility not long after! It s just mess up after mess up! This is a JOKE of a rehabilitation program .It is obvious there was an insane amount of Clear discrimination and unsafe grossly mishandlings of these situations were evident during my horrible, and traumatic, 9 day stay at this facility. Thanks.

We are truly sorry to hear that your experience at Sobriety House was not what you had hoped for. Our goal is always to provide a safe, supportive, and accessible environment for all clients, including those with disabilities. Sobriety House is ADA-compliant, and we would not claim to be unless we actually were. We offer reasonable accommodations for individuals in wheelchairs, including an ADA-accessible bedroom, bathroom, access to the main living area and kitchen, as well as therapeutic groups in an accessible classroom. It is a serious safety concern for clients to assist one another in ways that pose a risk, such as carrying someone to a different floor. Staff never authorized this, and as soon as we became aware, we put a stop to it. We also offer reasonable accommodations for essential activities, such as laundry and participation in 12-step meetings, to ensure that all clients can fully engage in their recovery process. Regarding conflicts between clients, we take all reports of threats or misconduct seriously. If staff do not directly witness an incident, we conduct an investigation to gather all the facts before taking action. We sincerely apologize if a satisfactory resolution was not reached in your case. Our approach is always to encourage conflict resolution through mediation whenever possible. As for discharge decisions, we are unable to discuss specific cases due to confidentiality. However, we can assure you that all clients regardless of disability status are held to the same program expectations and accountability measures. Decisions regarding continued treatment are based on documented behavior and program participation. Sobriety House has long been dedicated to serving Colorado s priority populations impacted by substance use disorders, including veterans, individuals experiencing economic hardship, and other underserved communities. We remain committed to equity, inclusivity, and ensuring that all individuals regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or economic status have access to quality treatment. We regret that your experience did not align with our mission, and we sincerely wish you the best in your recovery journey.

Sobriety House has been nothing but amazing to me. I've received 100% support from them from me traveling to Texas to be with my dying mom who has since passed away. And from being there for me when I was in the hospital. Today is my 60 days and I couldn't have done it without them. Thank you.

Accepted Insurance

Sobriety House Inc. works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
The process of medically assisted detox usually takes place in an inpatient setting while under the 24/7 care of a team of licensed medical professionals. It's considered the safest way to rid the body of all addictive substances and prepare you for a transition into either an inpatient program or various forms of outpatient rehab. The program length varies depending on your needs, but it typically takes about 5-7 days.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Professional services are often necessary to recover from addiction. Drug rehab in Colorado provides the expert services needed to address the complex issues of addiction and help individuals start their recovery journey.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Based on the couple's needs, couples therapy may take different forms. Your therapist will probably take an integrated approach, using techniques from several methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic couple's therapy. The goal is to work through challenges and strengthen your relationship.

During family therapy sessions, family members in Colorado work with therapists to understand addiction as a disease that has affected the entire family. This approach fosters empathy and reduces blame on any one member. Promoting this collective effort helps to support the recovery process.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Wonderful and uplifting place for recovery, now I know I am not alone. I was inspired by the majority of the staff because they are in recovery themselves. I just needed a bit of stability and I found it with them

This program saved my daughter's life! The community and resources they have are unbelievable. I believe the openess and non judgement they provided helped lift her mind from despair and heal her body. With a long term plan and endless support, she is thriving. She has saved herself with the help of people who have the tools to share. The program works if you want to change your life style and views on living a healthy life. I know it was hard. She had struggled endlessly. She wasn't ready until she met the strait forward and caring people at sobriety house. Thank you for giving her back to herself and letting her heal in ways as a family we were not able to give. Even if they are not ready! Plant the seeds! Give the space and time to heal and regain a sense of self that no one can take. I am Thankful from the bottom of my heart and blessed she made it thru hell to live another day with us as herself.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Thank you, Jen, for sharing such a heartfelt message. We’re truly honored that our program could be part of your family’s journey. It’s incredibly moving to hear that your daughter found the space, support, and care she needed to begin healing. Stories like yours remind us of the importance of compassionate, person-centered care. We’re grateful for your kind words and wish your daughter—and your whole family—continued strength and well-being.

If you are seeking a SAFE therapeutic and supportive environment, do not come to Sobriety House. House management grossly mishandles situations between clients causing problems to linger. Most of the clients are horrible to each other and staff does nothing about it. Maybe if house management left the office, clients would respect them and the rules more. Clients aren’t treated equally and their lack of support and oversight makes the property feel unsafe. For example, when I self-discharged and went back to collect my stuff, it was stolen and nowhere to be found. Sobriety House made no effort to reconcile the situation. STAY AWAY!!

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Thank you for sharing your concerns. We regret that your experience was difficult. Due to confidentiality and privacy guidelines, clinical interventions and disciplinary actions involving clients are not shared publicly or within the community, which we hope you understand. Unfortunately, the community we serve is often very ill. Working in a communal environment often involves addressing challenging behaviors, and we actively engage behind the scenes to ensure everyone's safety. Again, these interventions are not made known to other clients, or the general community. Additionally, Personal Property Inventories (PPI) are always reviewed and signed at discharge. If you did not receive all of your belongings, but signed a PPI, there is not a lot we can do. However, we invite you to contact us directly if you’d like to discuss your concerns further. We sincerely wish you well.

This place saved my life and gave me my family back 7 years ago. It feels more like home than a "facility". Everyone was super welcoming and supportive and I was able to stay on MAT. I couldn't have gotten where I am without them. I still recommend this place to everyone that needs help to this day.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Brittany - Thank you for your kind words. We are incredibly grateful to have been a part of your journey and to hear that Sobriety House was a comfortable place to call home while you healed. It's wonderful to know that our welcoming and supportive environment, along with the option to stay on MAT, played a role in your recovery. Your continued recommendations mean the world to us. We're proud of your progress and wish you all the best in your ongoing journey.
