About Mental Health Resource Center Inc

The Mental Health Resource Center is an organization that provides vital mental health care to Floridians which may include addiction treatment. Their Beach Boulevard location in Jacksonville, Florida is their inpatient adult treatment center and their emergency services center.

The emergency services department is specifically for mental health and behavioral health emergencies. If you are in a crisis this could be the first contact you make to get help and the professionals here know how to provide for both your short term and long term health. They’ll help you through the emergency and then connect you with an ongoing treatment program. The emergency department treats adults as well as children and teens.

In addition to emergency care this facility has an adult inpatient center. This particular inpatient program is a short term crisis stabilization unit. That means that for adults ages 18 and older this facility can help you get through a mental health or addiction crisis. Your treatment could include individual therapy and group therapy as well as psychoeducation and peer support. They’ll also help you set up a plan for treatment at your discharge like a residential rehab or outpatient rehab.

If I could give Negative stars I would. This place does not care about mental health. Nikki is a joke, and she does not care about the patient. I was prescribed medicines I have been on before that I had side effects with plus they interact with other meds that I am on. I was asked why I didn't call to have them switched. I said I would like to be on the med I was on when I switch places, and I quote she said with a sassy tone " oh we aren't going to do that." So I got up and left. Why would you not put a patient on something that has been working. This place needs to be investigated on their practices because it is a joke.

They really don t care about people. I personally know someone that wanted help and went to turn himself in but MHRC turned him away. Truly sad when this person is crying out for help and the experts slammed the door in his face.

Don t listen to the other reviews MHRC is a great place. The staff are super friendly. They re great at de-escalating situations and keeping problems to a minimum they understand different kinds of people and they understand how to talk to people. They re very good at recognizing how you feel in that moment And they know exactly what to say. Everybody is human we all messed up so we can t expect the staff to be perfect but I will say they are definitely in my top 10 cause I ve been to a few since I was a child And trust me I ve been to some bad ones, but MRC is definitely like 4 Especially with the audition of Miss Allison, she s been Taking care of me since I was like 16 And their doctors & Techs They re great. I don t know man I might just be high LOL But I m leaving for Oregon to do job course soon And I truly believe that if MHRC had Not saved my life in the way they did. I would not be here. I would not be in this situation. I would not be prospering the way I am right now so please If you are considering inpatient outpatient, whatever take me to consideration that their staff is extremely friend And remember everybody s human, but they do a great job at what they re supposed to do God bless

Accepted Insurance

Mental Health Resource Center Inc works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
If a person with a substance use disorder continually denies their problem or refuses to get treatment, a drug intervention in Florida may be necessary. Intervention services can help mediate the intervention by providing an addiction expert. This professional can de-escalate situations and facilitate a healthier discussion between the individual and their loved ones. Specialists can also help families handle issues they don't know how to navigate on their own.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy helps you work through the psychological impact that traumatic events have had on your life. Your therapist helps you identify the physical, emotional, and mental triggers and develop coping mechanisms. This helps rebuild a sense of safety and trust in yourself and others.

MHRC is always here to give me perspective that I don't have. Being a Frog at the bottom of a well isn't for everyone. I'm only giving it 4 stars because my provider needs a pay/benifit raise. 😇

Don't take anyone here unless you wanna get talked to like you don't know your own mental health or wanna get baker acted when you have a panic attack. This place really needs to reevaluate who they have running this place along with the therapist. The one good person there is Diana that's it. Beware please take it from me.

They hired a male receptionist that wants to feel like he’s tough. I’ve never had somebody shove me while trying to get my medicine. I guess if your patients can’t afford healthcare you can treat them However you want.

Horrible. I came here for mental health treatment for anxiety and mild depression. The lady I talked to in the beginning to fill out my paperwork seemed genuine but in fact, wasn't. I'm a teenager in high school that was paying for my own bills but lived under my parents' roof. After they asked me about the household income, they charged me 10× more than what I could afford because out of no where they said, "we charge based off of household income." I have no part in what the entire household brings in; you're willing to charge me about $500 when I only make barely enough money for gas. It's ridiculous!

I went in consistently medicated for PTSD for the past 15 yrs. I came out recovering from a hairline fracture to my rib, massive bruises from 6 person gang style staff assault and dont get me started on forced injections, improper medicines and dosages, and complete lack of doctors on the weekends for care. Seems designed to keep people longer and didn't even give me my mental health meds the entire time I was there.
