Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center has done a wonderful job at caring for myself and some family/friends. While I do recommend this facility to others, I must leave this review. One of the most important factors for me and my care as a patient is experience! With this being said, I recently had an HSG Xray performed by a resident who was teaching another resident along with the radiology assistant (all present in the exam room). This procedure was extremely uncomfortable. The resident had a hard time with the tools. The leg rests were like something out of a horror movie. There were chains that were not stable at all which made the process more painful- I was also unable to sit still. The resident did not warn me about the temperature of the iodine or surgical soap which was very cold without warning. I felt like a test dummy or a case study of some sort. I will return to this hospital for my care but in any department, I will politely request that the doctors are already trained and have completed their residency. An experienced radiologist should have been present. I did not appreciate feeling like a part of an experiment.

I was very disappointed and had a horrible experience recently. I had to do a bubble echo exam where I would need an IV. The reason I went to the hospital was because I have really bad veins. They were informed that my veins were bad therefore they needed to use an ultrasound to find my veins. So I arrive and that part was ok. Registration was ok. I went into the room for the echo and all I hear is them discussing why they scheduled me for a Saturday. They are discussing it between themselves liked I’m not in the room. Then a nurse comes in and tries to find my vein and pricks me twice. Then they call rapid response department and they pricked me twice. Couldn’t find a vein. Then finally they call the IV specialist. My question is why would they have 2 different people prick me when the purpose of me going to hospital was because my veins are bad that I needed special machine to find my veins before calling the appropriate department? I have to say I didn’t like this place. I would give it zero stars if I could.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Clients often enter inpatient rehab following detox, but they may also enroll during early recovery or at an increased risk of relapse. Inpatient rehabs provide housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision, allowing clients to focus exclusively on their recovery in a highly structured and supportive environment. Clients typically receive multiple individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions weekly. Many programs also offer extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training. Integrative inpatient rehabs provide holistic therapies as well.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Clients in a rehab aftercare program have typically completed detox and intensive inpatient and are medically stable. These programs are designed to address addiction recovery as a life-long process. Outpatient counseling and recovery education are typically categorized as drug rehab aftercare, but many clients continue to receive support after being discharged from formal outpatient treatment. Case managers and recovery teams facilitate clients' access to peer coaching, career counseling, 12 step program induction, and related services.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in New Jersey provides a setting where you can withdraw from alcohol or drugs under close monitoring of experienced medical staff. These trained professionals can intervene at any time if needed. They can prescribe medications to reduce cravings and physical discomfort. Mental health professionals are also available to address any emotional and psychological challenges you experience as you begin your recovery journey.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Building life skills allows you to demolish negative patterns of behavior and build new, healthy patterns. By building new thought processes, coping strategies, and behaviors, you establish a solid foundation for recovery.

Many of my specialists have moved their practices to Cooperman Barnabus hospital. It's a refreshing change, as someone who uses a wheelchair, to be met by the valet who offer assistance in assisting in taking the chair from my trunk without feeling rushed. Being welcomed by friendly staff at reception, offering not only directions but assistance if needed. The support staff makes visiting a healthcare facility less stressful with their welcoming supportive demeanor.

We had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Matthew O. Hubbard and his exceptional team on August 8th, 2025, and we left feeling extremely grateful and impressed. From the moment we arrived, Dr. Hubbard, Physician Assistant Nechanra D., and Medical Assistant Ana H. greeted us warmly and professionally. Dr. Hubbard took the time to thoroughly explain all the procedures for the upcoming surgery, easing our concerns with his detailed approach. I wholeheartedly recommend this exceptional team to my friends and family without hesitation. Thank you for your outstanding care!

DON’T GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. WENT TO ER ON 8- AUG, NURSES DONT CARE AND DIDN’T COME TO CHECK/ HELP EVEN AFTER EMERGENCY BUTTON PRESSED AND NURSE STATION WAS INFORMED 3 DIFFERENT TIME AT AN INTERVAL OF 10 min. SECONDLY THEY HAVE NOT RELEASED MY X-RAY FILMS AND CAT SCAN IMAGES. I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING UP FOR 2 WEEKS NOW. EVERY CALL THEY WILL PROMISE A CALLBACK BUT WILL NEVER WILL. I HAD TO GET ALL THE TESTS AGAIN AND THEY WILL HAVE TO PAY UP IN THE COURT.

Response from the owner
