I wanted to express my appreciation for all the staff that assisted in my MRI AND BIOPSY. The staff, Dr. Polini, Coleen Gurkhas, Laura G, Katherine A, and Vicki the mammogram tech, were all so accommodating and intuitive to my needs. I was extremely grateful for the excellent healthcare that was provided. Thank you again for the amazing care provided.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Clients often enter inpatient rehab following detox, but they may also enroll during early recovery or at an increased risk of relapse. Inpatient rehabs provide housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision, allowing clients to focus exclusively on their recovery in a highly structured and supportive environment. Clients typically receive multiple individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions weekly. Many programs also offer extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training. Integrative inpatient rehabs provide holistic therapies as well.

Clients in a rehab aftercare program have typically completed detox and intensive inpatient and are medically stable. These programs are designed to address addiction recovery as a life-long process. Outpatient counseling and recovery education are typically categorized as drug rehab aftercare, but many clients continue to receive support after being discharged from formal outpatient treatment. Case managers and recovery teams facilitate clients' access to peer coaching, career counseling, 12 step program induction, and related services.

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

24-hour clinical care in New Jersey provides a setting where you can withdraw from alcohol or drugs under close monitoring of experienced medical staff. These trained professionals can intervene at any time if needed. They can prescribe medications to reduce cravings and physical discomfort. Mental health professionals are also available to address any emotional and psychological challenges you experience as you begin your recovery journey.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Building life skills allows you to demolish negative patterns of behavior and build new, healthy patterns. By building new thought processes, coping strategies, and behaviors, you establish a solid foundation for recovery.

*** DO NOT GO TO Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center *** New Update Today 6-8-2026 COMPLETELY INCOMPENENT EMERGENCY ROOM I filed a complaint with jointcommission.org and NJ State Department of Health Jointcommission responds by email. No phone call, Generic canned email message, saying nothing is wrong with RWJ ER turning away my severly ill daughter. They are cleary for show No action for the patients to help RWJ Cooperman Barnabas seem compenent. * Turning away sick patients * False billing for services not given * Zero empathy * Zero Medical knowledge * Zero leadership I called RWJ Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston NJ to file a complaint on December 1st and they have not called me back as of today May 20th 2026 Do not go to this Hospital. Brought our daughter to the ER at RWJ Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston NJ. She was catatonic, grimacing in pain, unable to walk lift her limbs and having difficulty swallowing. She expressed this to the ER staff at check-in. She was seen by Claud Krause PA. After talking to Claude and expressing her condition they released her without a doctor’s examination. She was in distress and had a serious medical condition. She returned home that evening and her condition worsened with vomiting. We drove her to another ER to be examined for her condition, and she was admitted to another hospital for evaluation by a medical team. RWJ Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston NJ denied her a medical examination and delayed care for a serious medical condition. This is unacceptable and needs to be investigated. My daughter was admitted to another hospital on November 28th and has been hospitalized since then being treated for Severe Catatonia. The denial of medical care from RWJ is negligent and incompetent. I called RWJ Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston NJ to file a complaint on December 1st and they have not called me back as of today December 19th. I also received an Explanation of Benefits document from my Health provider stating that Robert Deutsch billed my insurance and he did not even see or talk to her. That is Insurance fraud submitting a claim for services not performed. I filed a complaint with jointcommission.org and NJ State Department of Health
