We'd cycled through several other programs without success. I didn't learn abut the existence of Embark's Livingston facility until I was in the process of considering residential programs. I was so relieved to learn of another option and even more relieved when we toured the facilities and met the staff. The building is full of light and color. The staff are welcoming, kind, and incredibly communicative with parents. I was incredibly impressed with the therapists and psychiatrist. My child finally felt heard and seen. While each child and their journey is unique, I am so grateful to have found Embark. ( I have medicaid. Which makes me less fortunate then others who pay for there insurance) so after about a year and a half. Outside of that the groups are excellent the facilitators truely care, and the people who are the ones that really make the groups they are great. I thibk due to the telahealth aspect people are more willing to dig into there traumas and passed. I can only hope they 1 day accept medicaid again not only for me but all the other addicts and alcoholics who cant afford insurance to 1 day be able to receive treatment in the same manor I did. From being sexually assaulted by another resident to being slammed around by "crt" to the staff flat out lying to the courts and my family to make it seem like I needed to stay there for more treatment. What started as a "30 day diagnostic" turned into over 2 years of my life filled with trama. There were a few good folks there though, and the number one person who sticks out to me were the math teacher Mr.Oconner and my basket ball coach Kyle. I truly hope you achieve everything you’re working toward. You would make an incredible counselor. The way you treated us with respect, compassion, and genuine care says so much about your work ethic and your character. Ash and Mike S - thank you for your patience and for always treating us with love, kindness, and respect. You made us feel like human beings, and that means more than you know. Stephan, Johnny, Gary, and Antwo—thank you for everything. The list of people I appreciate could honestly go on. Joe—you’re the man! Thank you for helping me even when you didn’t have to. And to my counselor, James—I’m truly grateful that our paths crossed. Thank you for your guidance and support. To anyone considering coming here: if you’re serious about getting help, staying focused on your goals, and working on your sobriety, you can absolutely succeed here. One thing I learned is that treating others with respect goes a long way. This isn’t a resort, so don’t expect a different meal every day or luxury accommodations. Like any program, there are some downsides, but for me, there were far more positives than negatives. I left with valuable lessons, support, and hope.
