Case manager was very disrespectful, threatened to violate HIPAA law on me then dismissed me like I was nothing when I said she can t legally do that. All because I said I just wanted to do detox and go to sober living. After they reviewed my intake call they said that they were told I was coming there for detox only. She said she was going to contact the sober living house and say I left against medical advice which could possibly ruin my opportunity to go there. Never had a more frustrating conversation or felt so disrespected by a staff member in a treatment program. I spent three days personal belongings for three days and getting no response. I ve been out for almost a week. I was told my prescriptions would be sent over to the pharmacy. I ve called White Sands twice and the pharmacy three times. They still don t have the prescription order. This place does nothing to help people. There are much better options out there.

Danny my case manager. made me feel like I was the only person on his case load. His attention to my needs were breath of fresh air. He legit made my stay here amazing. My box spring had broke and he didn't rest until it was replace and he actually stayed late to get it done. If you struggle with addiction whitesands is the place to go. I highly recommend Shay to be your therapist and Danny to be your case manager. Also I can't forget the BHT team. Keith , Elijah, O'Shea, Anthony, Dominic, Vanessa, Joey, Rose, Rachel, Dasiah you guys made me feel safe and kept me in line and last but not lease my best friend Ryan who made sure I got to my doctor appointments between all of them they've made a great impact on my recovery I can't express truly how much you guys helped me throughout my struggles. I mean this with my whole heart. THANK YOU ALL!! But most of all I want to thank Heather. She has talked me off the ledge more times than I can count. Heather always lends her ear and with her infinite wisdom calls me on my bullsh!t, and never blew smoke up my butt. I've never met anyone who cares about patients like she does. I highly respect everyone I mentioned and I hope that if you're struggling with addiction you get the opportunity to meet these amazing humans and find your path to sobriety.

WhiteSands Alcohol & Drug Rehab Plant City works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs encompass multiple levels of care to facilitate clients' progress through their recovery journey. Clients who are stepping down from inpatient treatment may require intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment, which involves more frequent and substantive therapeutic interventions than does standard outpatient care. Outpatient centers typically provide extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Medication assisted treatment programs (MAT) and recovery-focused life skills training are also common in outpatient care.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
If a person with a substance use disorder continually denies their problem or refuses to get treatment, a drug intervention in Florida may be necessary. Intervention services can help mediate the intervention by providing an addiction expert. This professional can de-escalate situations and facilitate a healthier discussion between the individual and their loved ones. Specialists can also help families handle issues they don't know how to navigate on their own.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Therapists who apply cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida believe patient thoughts and behaviors are closely linked. They use this treatment method to help clients change their thought patterns so they can also change behaviors and break free from substance abuse.

Dialectical behavior therapy in Florida consists of individual therapy and group instruction. This structured program is a form of psychotherapy that incorporates the development of skills for managing emotions and relationships.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

As a short term therapeutic method, motivational interviewing in Florida requires only a couple of sessions. During these sessions, you'll have the opportunity to talk about your circumstances and any discrepancies between your current situation and future goals. You'll then decide for yourself what changes you want to make.

Trauma therapy helps you work through the psychological impact that traumatic events have had on your life. Your therapist helps you identify the physical, emotional, and mental triggers and develop coping mechanisms. This helps rebuild a sense of safety and trust in yourself and others.

During couples therapy in Florida, your therapist will take steps to get to know you, help you identify feelings, explore the past, develop solutions, and help you learn skills to manage relationship challenges. This process will allow you to work through conflict and strengthen your relationship.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills are the core skills you need for daily success. They can include self care, stress management, daily routines, and emotion control. Rehab treatment includes the development of these skills so you have the tools you need for long term recovery.

One benefit of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) in Florida is variety. NRT comes in multiple forms that you can use in different ways. This allows you to choose the form that works best with your needs and lifestyle. Your options include gum, patches, inhalers, and prescription medication.

I'd been using and abusing drugs for 40+ years., in and out of rehabs, prison, mental institutions, you name. But the moment I set foot in White Sands in Tampa I felt my whole world change. My case manager Amanda Moody and my therapist Don Patton are 2 of the most amazing people in the world! They showed me things that I have NEVER seen nor heard in all of the aforementioned places I have been. All of the bht's, the culinary staff, the smoothie lady, yes you heard me, they even got a smoothie lady (lol) , the maintenance crew, the trainers at the gym where professional boxers train, the nursing staff, the security, the cleaning crew ( hola Jessica) are simply wholesome. I left there enroute to my next phase of white sands confident that I have indeed had a spiritual awakening because of the safe and comforting environment that white sands afforded me. In closing, I, as as a recovering addict, remember, with 40+ years of use under my belt, recommend with all of my heart and soul the White Sands Alcohol and drug rehabilitation center in Tampa, Florida.

They do not return phone calls! Very aggrivating to deal with. Even the top managers like Shannon don't give a crap. They return calls if they think you might be coming there for rehab, but if you have a loved in there and need to talk to a case manager, you won't hear back. Once they get you in, you can forget about any other help.

All I can say about this facility is the groups are excellent. On the other hand, all group rooms are without air conditioning, there's no a/c in the common area / kitchen. Which is the only place to hang out with friends. The gym has been closed half the time ive been here. They advertise theres a gym which is a lie. Its only open when their staffed. There's no shade anywhere on the property, we are forced into the heat and every person is covered in sweat all day. Which is disgusting to say the least. The ice machines have been broken for over a week. They wonder why people are walking around agitated and everyone is uncomfortable, its cause their dying of heat exhaustion. Im sorry to say I was here before and we had all the same problems and when I was here before the people who had been here before that said they had all the same problems. This is not a reflection on the staff. The staff here is excellent, top notch. But the people who sign for things to be fixed obviously don't care about the wellbeing of the people in their care. Also, their were items missing out of my car, and ive heard alot of other people were missing items when they left. From jewelry to money. I had a play station 4 stolen by staff when my car was searched. Also, some expensive clothing like hoodies and such came up missing.

The staff is excellent, food is great and atmosphere is fun. Dr. Mann however is a nightmare for those who are disabled veterans or anyone with serious chronic pain who have relied on Suboxone as a safer alternative than self-medicating. I am recommending that the medical board review his assumptions, practices and success rates as a dual diagnosis physician. He has significantly failed this former federal agent.

January of 2025 was my WhiteSands experience. It was freezing cold, my first time in treatment, and I was a lost and scared puppy. I had a freaking blast! I'm now living at a Ministry in Tampa (Timothy Initiative) that just all happened because after Plant City I did PHP in Hyde Park where I networked with someone at a 12-step meeting and now I am in a beautiful brotherhood Ministry and just... the first step to this new life was treatment. It is a converted hotel campus with a gym, pool, giant common area that served amazing food 3x a day - It was amazing how fast the days went. The groups were fun and while 12 steps offered at night - it was all CBT, DBT, Trauma, etc. Looking back, months later, I reminisce of this gem of a Rehab. It was so cold this January and the days went so fast yet dark by 530 and just... waking up in a beautiful room, hotel style, knowing there's a breakfast buffet and coffee and espresso Cafe style drinks - turning on Music from the Roku in the room - first name basis with the BHTs... Walking to the common area at 8pm bundled up and they are passing out snacks and drinks recruiting for a talent show or trivia or a basketball shootout, I showed up with no money and no winter clothes and was given so many vapes and clothes I was quite content. After the 815a.m. focus group? Ah, yes, get loaded up on all your detox meds. I stabilized on Suboxone for 12 days then came off it with the help of this $5,000 medicine called Lucemyra that made opiate withdrawal a breeze! I remember being so happy playing cards with cute girls just looking around asking myself why I didn't go to treatmeant sooner? I loved doing Trivia. I loved the atmosphere. My life is amazing now. On a real spiritual journey rebuilding my life... with good fruit to prove it! WhiteSands was the first step. Just go. Trust the process. Thank me later.
