About Creo Spero Recovery – Drug & Alcohol Rehab Orange County

Located in Santa Ana, California, Creo Spero is an addiction and mental health treatment facility that serves the Orange County community. It’s near various bus stops for convenient access to and from the location. The care services offered at this facility include medication assisted treatment, the first responders program, and intensive outpatient care.

Addiction Treatment Tailored To First Responders

The responsibility of caring for others can create a high level of stress for first responders. The struggle to cope with the trauma witnessed can sometimes lead to alcohol and drug addiction. Creo Spero offers specialized services to address the underlying causes of your substance use.

The treatment team is trained to provide trauma based therapy and stress management education. You’ll learn to find various ways you can cope with your career without resorting to using substances.

Recovery on the Beach

One advantage of this facility’s location is it’s only twenty minutes away from the California coast. After a treatment session, you can take time to walk or sit and relax at Huntington State Beach to reflect on your therapy or just take a breather.

Specialized Care For Dual Diagnosis

Creo Spero follows an extensive treatment protocol that treats individuals who are struggling with dual diagnosis. Depending on an individual’s needs, the first step of treatment will be medical detox.

Abruptly quitting drugs can cause physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms which may worsen your mental health conditions and cause you to relapse. Under the supervision of medical staff, they can ensure you detox in a safe and secure manner.

When you have stabilized, an evaluation will be conducted to create a customized treatment plan that fits your needs. The therapies that will be incorporated into your treatment will include traditional approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing, and holistic approaches such as yoga and music therapy.

If you re wanting to go to a sober living that will kick you out at random for no reason this is definitely the place for you!! This place is a money grabbing scheme. The one star reviews are accurate. I was at risk of being on the streets due to a one time medical issue. Very disorganized and unprofessional. They truly don t care about their clients. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. When me and my fiance first arrived everything seemed okay. On the second night of our stay the house managers at the time ended up getting into a huge fight resulting in one of them getting arrested! Throughout our stay it seemed as if the staff were trying to inccinuate that they were good people until their true colors came into play. The program director encouraged people to review their program on Google and was unappreciative when 3 of his current clients left 5 star reviews at the exact same time. As time went on passive aggressive tendencies began to arise between my fiance and the staff when it came to her physical health. She went to the hospital due to a health scare and when we arrived home we were told "this back and forth to the hospital cannot continue to happen." Stated by the program director Kam. When she went a second time I had to call an ambulance because no one was able to take her and we couldn't afford to get her to a hospital in an Uber due to financial struggles. The owner Wana at one point even stated "if it's after 5 pm don't call us, because us a staff shouldn't have to work after 5pm." They're literally a sober living mind you. So I called an ambulance to get her to a hospital and upon arrival she received a call from Kam him speaking in a passive aggressive tone almost aggravated saying "you shouldn't have called an ambulance, it looks bad for our sober living to have an ambulance at the house." He then calls me after having my fiance all distraught and tries to manipulate me into abandoning my fiance by complimenting me on my growth and tried to get me in a way to stay at the sober house and letting her find her own situation. He's literally the one who told her she should get evaluated at the hospital again because her EKG results looked off the charts! I ultimately made the decision to stick by her side as one should in a bad situation such as this. They claim their company is about recovery, but not when you're kicking my fiance out on the street with a heart condition when she did nothing but seek help when she needed it. When we arrived to grab our things the new house managers were kind enough to sign out our meds and let us grab our stuff. We did however accidentally leave somethings behind and when asking permission to come retrieve them she stated "we throw out all items left behind" these were clothes and our food which we bought! And I know they're lying about the food being thrown out because when the old house managers left all their food left behind was put in the community food cabinet. And as far as the clothes, when we arrived there was literally the previous clients clothes still in the dresser so I know they haven't thrown it out yet. In final words, Kam the program is a passive aggressive manipulator, Wana is a money hungry woman who cares about image more than clients health, and the whole program should be buried for what little help they're inflicting on others!

Creo Spero is a great program that holds a special place in my heart!! They played a crucial role in my first and only recovery journey and I'm still sober as of today (20 months). The staff is very caring and run intimate groups. This program taught me so much, not only about myself, but how to obtain long term sobriety. It was a fellowship amongst the clients and staff which I really appreciated. It helped bring accountability which is crucial in early recovery as we all know to be true. I would definitely recommend this program for anybody currently struggling in their own lives. This program will only help you. I'M CERTAIN OF THIS!! I thank God for leading me to Creo Spero!!

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab provides intensive treatment for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Unlike outpatient drug rehab, clients receiving inpatient care reside at the facility for the duration of the program. The length of stay may range from two weeks to 18 months or more, depending on the client's needs and the program's design. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) support a client's sustained sobriety as they exit detox or step down from an inpatient program. IOPs are also designed for clients who are at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in a minimum of nine hours of therapy per week, but clients may receive up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP treatment modalities often combine psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
When addicted, quitting your drug of choice suddenly can be dangerous. That's why experts agree a medically assisted detox is the safest way to remove addictive substances from the body. Usually done in an inpatient setting, your vitals signs and overall well being are consistently monitored and rechecked in order to keep you safe and ensure the detox is successful.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

equine-therapy iconEquine Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

I’ve been to multiple sober livings and outpatient programs. This is by far in every way the best one I have been to not just in Orange County , but everywhere! This place changed my life for the better by so much. The staff is incredible and care so much about the clients, and not just that, they are extremely knowledgeable and tend to each persons situation individually. This place is for singles and couples trying to get sober! Which is incredible for me and my girlfriend trying to get sober together. They also work with family relationships and the guy who runs the place, Kam, is very good with the clients and families. They provide great group therapy as well as individual therapy with amazing facilitators and therapists, I’ve always had a hard time finding a good therapist but Nadine is incredible! On top of that the groups here are like no other, specifically Kam and Manny, they run groups like no others, they are so unique and impactful and I’ve learned about stuff I’ve never heard of, as well as way more depth to topic I thought I already knew. Since I’ve been here I feel like I’ve never had a better chance for myself, not just in sobriety but in life! They helped me get a Sponsor, certifications and a job. I found this place randomly because there aren’t many couples places but I couldn’t have been more lucky, my expectations were completely blown out of the water. I owe so much to this place so this review is for anyone looking for somewhere to help change their life, but also for them because they deserve the recognition. Thank you Creo Spero! Shoutout Kam, Q, Sheri, Manny, and Nadine. The Avengers of outpatient treatment! 😎🫡

5-Star Review: I can confidently say that my 8-month stay at this treatment center changed — and saved — my life. When I first arrived, I was broken, lost, and unsure if recovery was even possible for me. From day one, the staff treated me with compassion, dignity, and a level of support I had never experienced before. They didn’t just help me stop using — they helped me understand why I was using and gave me the tools to heal from the inside out. The program was structured yet personalized. I received both individual and group therapy, participated in evidence-based treatments, and learned life skills that continue to serve me every day. What really stood out was the sense of community — the peers I met became a second family, and the staff never made me feel like just another client. They saw me, they believed in me, and they pushed me to become the best version of myself. Even after I completed the program, the support didn’t stop. Their aftercare services have been a lifeline — from alumni meetings to regular check-ins and access to resources that help me maintain my recovery. I never feel like I’m doing this alone, and that makes all the difference. It’s been over a year since I walked through their doors, and I’m proud to say I’m still clean, healthy, and living a life I never thought was possible. If you’re considering treatment — whether for yourself or a loved one — this is the place. They don’t just treat addiction. They treat people.

I have recently watched with deep sadness as a family member of my close friend battled addiction. After multiple program failures they sought help from Creo Recovery and now he’s thriving six months later as a sober and focused individual who lives a life beyond our expectations. The transformation I witnessed was truly astonishing. For those who need support and change for the long term. I am grateful for there help and highly recommend them. They go above and beyond and its very clear they deeply care about their clients.

Anybody who says this is a good program just has not seen the owners true colors. I’m a retired flight paramedic and I sought help for my addiction brought on by servers ptsd from my job and graciously asked this program to please make sure me and my pregnant wife were safe. I paid them thousands of dollars upfront. And mind you this is a dog friendly sober living. The owner is so lazy He leaves his own dog at the house we lived at cause he can’t even take care of his own dog. I have personally trained two hunting dogs and I am a great dog owner I get my wife a pregnancy present. I have a four month old dog fully trained service dog. while in the home for just a week and a half the owner proceeds to kick me and my pregnant wife out on the street for having a dog somewhere that is dog friendly. not only did they kick us out on the street mind you we are in new stages of recovery. I spent every last dime giving them money so we had a roof over our heads. so after being kicked out onto the street with no where to go not knowing a single person in California. Knowing we came all the way here from Texas to be in these programs, they refused to refund any of the money that I paid. And I paid for the entire month up front!! leaving me and my wife unable to rent even a hotel room, my babies growing big in my wife’s stomach. She was forced to sleep in the front seat of a car. I do not recommend anybody this program. The owner Wanda and I forget her dudes name. That’s honestly how irrelevant they are in my life now and shows you just how much I respect the guy I remember everybody’s name, especially when I shake their hand They are cruel people and they have cynical intentions .

I've been in this program going on 3months. I can honestly say, without a doubt, I could never be more satisfied. I knew I needed help with changing the lifestyle I was living, I just didn't know what that help would consist of. Just by the way these people have the upmost concern about the well-being of their clients and the knowledge of how to overcome obstacles that life throws at you, I couldn't be more grateful for choosing this particular program. They've shown me ways to identify what was truly holding me back from change. I can truthfully say this has been the best decision I could have ever made to create a better life for not only myself but for those around me as well.

My time at Creo Spero was life changing! I am currently 6 months and 8 days sober. The people there truly care about helping change your life. The groups are amazing. The tools I learned helped me change my life. One of the Groups that really helped me put things in perspective was a spiritual group where I learned about the fruits of the spirt which I currently use daily which helps me identify what fruit of the spirit I am learning when I am faced with obstacles. I am authentically and genuinely happy and love myself for the amazing person I am... I used to suffer form bad anxiety they gave me tools to use and i can deal with my anxiety now. Creo entire staff leads with love which I needed the most, people who cared, not having much family and screwing up the relationships I once had the staff showed up for me everyday. If you are looking for a place to go through the motions than this may not be the place for you. This is a real educational and hands on program that assist but also requires you to put in the work. The groups are awesome. The case manager had Kam Bell, he changed my life. Theowners are helpful and supportive and trustworthy. They actual care not just out for money, It was difficult for me to find a job but they took me to my interviews and helped me with my resume.Have a job as a server, I have relationship with my step Father again due to family sessions with my Case Manager and most of all I'm Happy Being sober.
