No idea what they talking about. Randomly gives out same supplement protocol to everyone. Doesn t know how protracted withdrawal works. Old and drab facilities. Out of network will rob you dry. $70 for a shared room for their 60 day program. Said it wouldn t matter at what dosage I came in at on my meds because of the power of nutrition and supplements which shows their lack of knowledge when it comes to benzo withdrawal. No licensed doctors . Rude on the phone, won t allow you to speak. Condescending. What a joke.

Accepted Insurance

Desert Canyon Treatment Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Arizona is the process of treating individuals who are dependent on a particular addictive drug. Because addiction is complex, this treatment typically includes a variety of interventions that address the many physical and emotional issues involved.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

I was a patient at ATMC for 60 days in 2024. In the months prior to my stay there I was battling a serious psychosis, in and out of 4 different behavioral hospitals in a matter of 4 months. The medications and mistreatment were brutal and my family thought I was long gone. My mom found ATMC online and although I was reluctant to go there at first, it truly saved my life. I had been been diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar for 7 years, I had been prescribed heavy doses of antipsychotics, anticonvulsants, and antidepressants throughout my young adult life. It wasn't working for me, my quality of life was at its lowest. I spent my birthday and Christmas at ATMC, and I've never felt more at home away from home. The staff is genuine, hard-working, knowledgeable, relatable, and above all, they are empathetic. They make sure that everyone feels included, heard, and safe. Instead of treating the symptoms, they find a way to treat the source. I can proudly say that I've been off any and all psych medications for a full year now. Instead of giving my autonomy up to a doctor or a pill, I finally have it for myself. And I owe the world to my family, friends, and those at ATMC for that.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Thank you so much for sharing your powerful story. We’re deeply honored to have been part of your healing journey and are incredibly proud of the strength and resilience you’ve shown. At ATMC, we’re committed to supporting each individual with compassion, respect, and a truly integrative approach to care—focused on uncovering root causes rather than masking symptoms. It means the world to hear that you felt at home, supported, and empowered during your time with us. Congratulations on your continued progress and regained autonomy—you inspire us and so many others.

A two sided coin. Great people. But suspect people affiliated with them as well. Their owner and founder passed away mysteriously and in a manner that I suspect involved drug abuse. Also, they hire people who were incarcerated for drugs and know the drug probation tricks. But they are suspect because they all left me high and dry. However I do miss their willingness to teach me and share their wisdom and experiences especially because I was in mental Hell in that my brain which still hurts actually became inflamed and lit on fire. I remember telling the life coach that John Camillieri (Who is their best support worker there who helped me stay alive by sending me a life coach who got me to the neurologist to get Botox injections for the pain in my brain which makes me able to write this review) that I would have rather gone to prison for one year med free and pain free than be in the pain I was in. So, you see? If you are suffering then you have to use ATMC. If it s an option take it. It will suck but it might save your life literally. You will go there feeling lost and they will try to strengthen you with your own taper protocol and that s good because that will give you a boost like it does me now. Just realize that ATMC didn t invent psychiatry or drugs and alcohol. They are just observant and mindful of it which can help you by enriching yourself by them. Psychiatry is experimental and dangerous and I respect their awareness of this. But you should not send people back to their living situations with the taper as their job so to speak. That one is important too because it s just you on your own more and regular psychiatrists might not be knowledgeable of antipsychiatry like ATMC obviously is which confuses you because now ATMC has stunned you into believing that what you are ingesting like a prostitute all of these years ruined you so you hate the psychiatrists in the future who you have to deal with. That s wrong of ATMC. That s why they should not send you back into the world on your own with some resentment in you after 8 weeks that they probably wanted to turn into 10 weeks as a sales pitch Im still on the serious drugs that nobody wants to hear about outside of ATMC. But I do take Nano CBD, Gabatrol, aminos, ten grams of fish oil, niacin, Gabapentin, etc because I have the resources and time. However, I m on my own and I don t know if the taper will work by another year or two. ATMC doesn t truly know either because nobody can truly know what happens with someone s brain or body chemistry just because you ingest GABA a lot. The brain is truly mysterious. If you go there then utilize the support of staff like John C, your therapist, etc. But again, you are in the middle of a bizarre experiment with the drugs and the taper as well. Stay with it. Keep using the supplements that work for you but keep an open mind. But, remember, you are in control somewhat. You decide if you are sleeping properly after cutting the pills gradually with the supplements. And your supplements protocol unfortunately ends up being unique to you. You re in a psychiatric taper swamp and journey and your dopamine receptors are out of wack and you may or may not be able to fix that. Blame the FDA but know that it s absurd that your original psychiatrist who did this to you is protected and can t be held accountable which is a true example of what corruption is. But after reading this you have to still work with a psychiatrist or integrative psychiatrist and possibly tap into ATMC s one on one coaching to check out the possibility of you actually tapering successfully which is what I m in the process of doing. If that doesn t work after two years then you have to take the drugs and it s a necessary evil if you want to stay alive physically. Cut gradually and know that you will have bad days and think, what is the point and this is bullshit. But it s not. I m down from 30mgs to 15 mgs and my goal is 7.5. I m actually sleeping fine for now. If zero mgs then wow. But the drugs may be too evil and powerful to get off of

Could not give reasonable answers to my questions. Their research is based off of non-medical information and not science. The data is from a small sample size (around 100 people). Their "doctors" papers on the website show no actual medical information pertaining to blood toxicity, neurochemical changes, or even control samples to compare to. They replace a doctor or dealer caused perscription with snake oil. No different than the "cures" except they are less effective. There are some reviews where they have seen people have died after the program and there are no statistics on death rates post program.

I WENT TO ATMC IN AUGUST OF THIS YEAR TO GET OFF A WELL KNOWN ANTIDEPRESSANT CALLED EFFEXOR. I HAD ASKED ABOUT THE SUCCESS OF WITHDRAWAL FROM THE DRUG AND IT WAS STATED THAT ATMC HAD EXPERIENCE WITH EFFEXOR. I WAS THERE FOR 2 MONTHS AND FOLLOWED THE PROGRAM TO THE LETTER. AFTER ALL THE TESTS WERE DONE THEY STARTED TAPERING ME OFF BY 12 MGS A WEEK AND I FELT AMAZING…THE STAFF WERE AMAZING ALL AROUND BUT I HAVE A BONE TO PICK WITH THE NURSE PRACTITIONER WINNIE!!! AFTER COMING HOME, A MONTH IN , I STARTED GETTING BODY TREMORS, INSOMNIA, FATIGUE AND ANXIETY, WHICH I DIDN’T HAVE ON EFFEXOR. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED I HAVE PROTRACTED WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS FROM COMING OFF THE MEDICATION TOO QUICKLY. I AM NOW SPENDING MORE MONEY BACK HOME TRYING TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM AND NOBODY AT ATMC WILL SPEAK TO ME. AFTER CARE SERVICE IS NON EXISTENT. I SPENT $65,000 U.S. TO COME BACK WORSE THAN WHEN I GOT THERE. THERE SHOULD BE A REVIEW ON THE KNOWLEDGE. THAT THE PROFESSIONALS HAVE THAT ARE STEERING THE SHIP!!! THESE ARE PEOPLE’S LIVES THAT ARE AT STAKE!!!!

My daughter was a patient at ATMC for 60 days during this past summer. The personal care she received far exceeded expectations. She was able to taper off 2 perscription drugs completely and 1 partially. She has been steadily improving since returning home and continues to taper, utilizing the skills she learned while there. Their inpatient program is highly effective but they also teach coping skills that stay with you when you leave. Beth, my daughter continues with follow up care and the difference in her mental outlook is amazing. The diet and detox program has resulted in a big improvement in her overall physical health. I would highly recommend this inpatient facility to anyone who wants to improve their emotional and physical health using holistic therapies. It has changed her life and the lives of those close to her!

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Thank you for sharing your experience and kind words about ATMC. We're thrilled to hear about your daughter's progress and the positive impact our program has had on her life and your family. It’s wonderful to know that the skills, care, and holistic approach we provide continue to support her journey. Wishing Beth continued success and healing!
